I love your testimony. For me, it has the necessary "ingredients" of a true repentant heart as pertaining to your drinking. I believe the Spirit not only quickens but ensures we learn the requisite spiritual lessons inherent in the path, which may take time.

I see it this way.

When we are in the flesh and are having fun, our heart, mind and body get used to that path and are snared by it that it becomes difficult for us to part ways. And because we enjoy the pleasures of that path, we continue in it even if we know we are doing the wrong thing without feeling any remorse of the wrong done. (Though sometimes we may feel it but do not care). The worry and cares of the world and the deceitfulness of the pleasures of this path continue to keep us bound in the path and harden our heart in the process. The sin inherent in the path becomes malignant in us and when something is malignant, it becomes difficult to cure or do away with.

However, when we repent and start treading on the right path, the tentacles of our old ways, that carnal nature built over the years, will not give way easily. As the heart, mind and body are being renewed towards the right path, we will struggle because they are already used to a particular way of life and were pleased with it. From our experience, we know it is difficult to leave that which we enjoy and cherish. The motions of sin accumulated over time will continue to vent themselves out until they are subdued as we continue steadfastly in the comfort and guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Therefore, in true repentance, we could face an inner struggle between the spirit and the flesh as our heart is being renewed and spirit strengthened. We see ourselves doing the wrong or evil we hate to do while failing to do the good required of us. In this state, we should not despair but be hopeful because our God who sees and judges the heart and not appearances remains with us in this struggle without any condemnation, provided we continue not willingly to walk after the flesh for the body will eventually be quickened and made alive in our new way of life, for the spirit of righteousness in Christ Jesus makes us free from the spirit of life of sin and death (Romans 8:2)

The difference between when we were walking after the flesh and enjoying the pleasures of it and when we repent and jettison that path and find ourselves at times falling back to our vomit, is the remorse, sometimes tears, or the regret and the sadness we feel when we fall which propel us to reject the more that ugly situation and make us more resolute, resourceful, resilience and faithful towards the right way. We see how abhorrent that situation was and we vow never to do it again which unfortunately may not be our last fall as the carnal nature rears its head again. But, we will eventually overcome with the guidance of the Holy Spirit if we continue rejecting the path sincerely. This state of mind is not present when enjoying the life after the flesh. In a moment of serenity or sobriety we might regret our actions but because there is no true repentance of heart, we sink deeper into the pleasures we know best because we only have faith in that way of life.
that’s wonderful stuff

would you say that in order to come to that place of repentance believing the gospel is imperative , meaning the view and understanding Jesus gave pertaining to his eternal judgement ?

for instance suppose a person is at a place where their own mind is whispering that repentance isn’t important anymore because of “ the cross” wouldn’t we need to change our thinking about that first before we will come to a point of repentance ? Or even acknowledging our need for it personally ?

I think that often we can’t see it pertaining to ourself our own need for repentance I mean , because our thinking about God is all wrong . Renewing of the mind I believe happens through belief of the gospel , believing the judgements Jesus set forth for us . The more we can believe and accept his word faith goes into motion within and works to bring about the changes in our mind and heart that leads our actions

if we in our heart believe repentance isn’t important we never will find that sorrow we need for true repentance . It hurts a lot sometimes to have the light shine on your inner darkness , but that pain leads through the sorrow to a better place in Christ that opens new possibilities

You wrote really wonderful post very edifying sorry for interrupting that was good though[/QUOTE]

So much food to feed on in your post , very uplifting and truthful...

I used to hate the hang overs that kept me in bed for nearly a week , but when God saved me , and I was reading His word , I ended up hating hurting Him , so that was when my true repentance came in to play , when His Light shone on my darkness , I had to admit I was a drinker , I stopped going to the pubs , stopped buying from the shops , and resisting temptation , it was so so hard , but in the end , it was like a cloake fell off me , and I can not thank God enough Amen...

If you are practicing adultery you will go to hell unless you repent and believe on Jesus and are changed and no longer practice adultery. If you believe that you can practice adultery and still be saved by believing that what the bible says about Jesus is true, you are deceived and will go to hell.

Does that answer your question? Even the devils believe and tremble.
As a sinner I wish to do what ever I want and still go to heaven, I don't care If I lost my reward, but the way this verse say, It Seem adulterer not go to heaven.

If unbeliever commit adultery go to hell, believer have Holy Spirit, must do better, in reality some time I am not doing better than unbeliever

But I feel progress, better than me 10 years ago.
Holy Spirit work oN me to be better person, though I know I am far from perfect.

I wish I agree with some people that say, you can do what ever you want, murder, sleep with multiple pretty woman, Cheating and still HO to heaven because salvation by faith not by work, God never throw away his child It Will be nice for me. God throw Adam and eve from the Garden only because they Eat an Aple. If I ask my son not Eat that aple and he did, I am not going to throw him away from my house. But just God did.
Unfortunatelly I am not God that have power to make rule.

Great question! In my opinion, the limit for cheating a spouse is ZERO. But I don't say that this is an unforgivable sin -- I just say the sinner will have to repent bitterly.
Thanks, but once a year Seem did by a person that try to repent, Yes need repent.
If person not think to repent, he my do It when ever he have money to by a pretty woman

And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
Be honest this verse is scary.
Is better blind and go to heaven than see go to hell.
It mean adultery go to hell, so If you not able to stop that behavior, you better pluck your eyes

It doesn't say better blind than lose your reward, but blind better than go to hell.

No body like this verse me include, but what can we do, pray so God Cancel this verse or pray so God give us ability to ibey this verse.

One day i hear a conversation between a girl, and his uncle in a motel loby.
A girl come with her body friend to rent a room, his uncle come a minute after and talk,to,his niece, are you alone, his niece answer, No Imam with my body friend. Than her uncle say have a fun.
This what we think, free sex is a fun, sin is a fun. As experience siner I think sin is only temporary fun.
Soon he Will feel, guilty, and If we keep doing that till die, we go to hell

Temporary fun but cause you lost eternal fun and go to eternal tribulation in hell.

Let see the history of human.

Adam and eve was God child. God provide them with a nice Garden. I don't think they ever die If they obey God not to Eat the fruit of knowledge. They disobey and God kill them, now they and their offspring are mortal.

As a parent If my son disobey me I am not going to kill him. But God is just, not that He don't love His child, but It is His rule.
Adam and Eve's case is a bit different to the believer today.

The believer now is never perfect while in the flesh.

Adam and Eve were in the flesh perfect for a time till disobedience.

But also God cast them from the garden, they became sinful , but did He remove their place in heaven?

I totally agree with your submission.

I believe that our faith is being tried often as believers until we overcome. Just as our Lord Jesus Christ was tried and overcome, we face temptations sometimes as a way of trying our faith, If we remain steadfast in our faith we will overcome. If we fall and see it as normal because we are flesh and therefore cannot avoid sinning and are washed because of the cross, the tendency is that we will continue to sin as if we are still under the law. By our thought and believe, we continue to water the sin consciousness in our heart which makes it difficult for us to stop as believers. And this is what is happening in different churches today. But when we recognize and acknowledge that fault and sincerely eschew that evil in our hearts, our faith is made stronger by the power of the cross and we begin to see the work of the Holy Spirit quickening us to overcome.

Sometimes, it is not what we have done wrong out of ignorance that matters but when we realize the wrong done, when our conscience confronts us with it, our next line of action is what matters most. . Do we repent truly and hold on to our faith or do we consciously or unconsciously glory in what we have done and carry on as if nothing happened while consciously or unconsciously plotting our next move or hoping albeit erroneously that we are covered by the cross.. If the latter is the mind, I think we are mistaken.

Adam is God child, his offspring must God child too.
At least we know a Lot of human (God child) go to hell.
Jesus say matt 7

14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

Adam is God child, It doesn't mean his Son God grandchild, we call It God child too.

Only few of God child go to heaven.

'OVER-COMING' is a 'DAILY' process, different for 'each and every one of us in/on an 'individual way',
according to our individual circumstances in this wicked world...
how we respond to being led to 'repentance' is surely a very private thing, but yet, common
in so many ways...
amen I’ve come to believe much about a relationship between a believer and the lord is personal and also common as we have many differing experiences in life with the lord. To me it’s wonderful because it takes away judging another person completely it’s left to the lord himself and the believer in him .

repentance as well as many aspects of our walk is a life long daily process a walk , a good fight , a race we run . I see scripture like this to regard repentance being a daily decision

And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.

For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?

For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels.”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭9:23-26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

totally agree a daily process indeed and one that the lord , and the believer himself work out with fear and trembling we have to just believe the truth and follow

amen again a lot of agreement really good stuff . A lot of people don’t distinguish sin of ignorance and willing knowing sin as your saying . 25 years ago I didn’t know what I know now , so my standard was different , now I couldn’t live the same because it wouldn’t be of ignorance but willing and knowing .

often we judge others by the standard we have attained , the measure of faith we’ve received and it in my humble view is terribly misguided to do so . Christ made the lord God so personal to each one , and yet he’s there for us all at whatever point we are at in our faith .

the design of the gospel is perfect to save sinners

amen you just made a great insightful point about how the light works in us . What your saying there reminds
Me of this

“And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.”
‭‭John‬ ‭3:19-21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

that light shines on those hidden things in us in our hearts and minds . When it does we can be offended and ignore the lords promptings toward repentance , or like you did you can let the light shine bright and because your a believer the lord works in you through that faith to remove the issue inside .

I bet those hangovers aren’t missed 😂

God loves you and May he bless you in every way press on soldier see you when we’re home 💗

1 cor 6

9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men[a] 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Is This verses oppose salvation by faith alone?
These verse is also by Paul that say salvation by faith not by work.

Adulterer not go to heaven, is that mean stop adultery bring you to heaven?

Than salvation by work

How you go to heaven? Stop adultery?

No you can't do It yourself

Go to heaven is by faith and faith in Jesus Will help you stop adultery.

I want to go to heaven that is why I stop adultery. Wrong

I want to go to heaven than I invite Jesus to my hearth and He Will teach and help you to life a Holy life.

The focus is faith not work

I am adulterer is that mean I am not save?

Base oN those verses I am not.

No body perfect is that mean every body not save?
Matthew
5:27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
5:29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast [it] from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not [that] thy whole body should be cast into hell.
5:30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast [it] from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not [that] thy whole body should be cast into hell.

Repent and let the Precious Blood of Jesus cover you this very hour. You shall be made positionally perfect in the eyes of the Father who shall view you through the Blood of His dear Son.

Even is a pastor commit adultery once a year, that will be big problem for the church. When I was high school, My pastor wife was cought in act to have a sex with the choir leader. It was big problem, the pastor find another ministry as Christian hospital minister because of that, the choir leader not lead the choir anymore.
But I believe, in God eyes, as long as we repent, regret and ask forgiveness, we go to heaven.
I understand walk in the Spirit is against flesh. But people that walk in the spirit, some time fall in to flesh
Galatians 5
16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

And Paul continue to explain what is walk in flesh look like

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Adultery etc, and yes people who do that not go to heaven/verse 22

But if we confest and repent, we are ok and go to heaven

Verse 21 is talking to people that do that list and not feel guilty and not repent at all.

I use to have a friend, he teach Sunday school in the church. He need a money, he take from his credit card and porpuselly not pay. He know it is sin, but he believe that kind of sin not make you lose salvation.
I think this kind of person already lose his salvation.
Other may make the same mistake not able to pay his credit card, but not plan to do it.

I believe it is for everyone. Salvation is not a license to sin. The need to have a humble and repentant heart does not end when one is born again. Paul himself said he still struggled with temptation. The difference was that he fought it rather than fed it.

Romans
7:17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but [how] to perform that which is good I find not.
7:19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
7:20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
7:21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
7:22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
7:24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

So Paul still serve the law of sin, is that mean Paul still practice sin?
