Is declaring "Jesus is Lord" basically just affirming that Jesus is God and the Lord of all creation?
Not necessarily, the definition is; 1. NOUN, someone or something having power, authority, or influence; a master or ruler. 2. VERB, act in a superior and domineering manner toward (someone)... So lordship can have different connotations depending on how its implied, assigned, or expressed.. For instance, saying that I'm the "lord of the manor" has no divine implications.
Many referred to Jesus as Lord in the sense of master, leader, teacher (rabbi), etc.. But certainly in the context of "Lord of all creation", a person is acknowledging Christ as God, the LORD of our salvation.. I believe this was best expressed by one of the apostles; "Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God." (John 20:28)
