Guy's got a point. I mean was it really necessary to drown every man, woman, child, and animal on the planet save Noah's family?
Why do you think God bothered to save anyone at all?

And if you ask why it's because the flood story is based on the Sumerian Gilgamesh Epic.

I don't understand how letting Jesus die a horrible death is somehow going to free anyone... actually, I take that back. Jesus took OUR place on the cross, or he traded places with us, in order to SAVE us from the VENGEFUL NATURE of his Father in heaven? So, God is going to destroy humanity but doesn't want to, so instead God becomes man so that he can die on a cross and take our place, and now all we have to do is trust in this strange event if we want to be saved from God's wrath... A) it doesn't sound like Jesus dying on the cross saved EVERYONE, just those who believe in him. and B) wouldn't it have been easier for God to just say "I'm not going to kill you guys"
No, God knew the only way to save us from ourselves, and our own sin nature, was to do this.
I think I have enough love for others to risk my own life to save the life of others, but I'd never risk my son or daughters life.
God really had a lot of love for us to do that.
You see, we were already dead in sin. You might say we were dead men walking. Real life begins at the rebirth.

Again, to all of you who say "if God is good, why does He let so much bad take place" I ask you to just think how bad things would be if He wasn't good. With such awesome power, to do whatever He wants, we would be in a pickle if He wasn't good.

That doesn't answer my question. If God destroyed the world with a flood, why did He preserve mankind by instructing Noah and his family to go into the Ark?

Because he didn't get it right the first time and had to start over in an overly dramatic fashion.

No one is innocent.
Some believers in God believe that every stillborn or aborted baby goes to hell, do you believe this?

Why did God BOTHER to save anyone... what kind of arrogant, self-absorbed God do you worship? If it bothers God to save people, and he's fine killing thousands at a time, why do you think you're so special that God is going to bother saving you?

Would you have enough love to give your life to save Hitler? Because if you think that even GOD doesn't have enough love to save Hitler, then your God isn't greater than evil... i mean, here's a mortal who has enough hate, fear, doubt, sin and wickedness that not even GOD in all his power can save him. That is a God with no power, or God isn't good.
I believe Hitler is in heaven.

It is really great that you find a Christian forum a good place to spend you time and ask questions and I am sure you do not wish to offend anyone but please, please be careful with how you word your posts? Sometimes, the way we write something can be read as very harsh. There are many here who have had the catastrophic experience of a child dying. Many, myself included, with our beliefs, understand that our babies are now safely home with Jesus and although we must live with the separation till we go home, our precious children are but separated from us for 'the blink of an eye'. We find great comfort in our faith, we believe in God and His promises. For anyone to be told that there are those who think their children are in hell? this is truly upsetting. So, you have every right to post, I just ask that you do so with respect. Thank you, <><

I imagine he could flood the planet and kill every man woman and child if it suits him... oh wait, he already did that.
I imagine he could cause a tsunami to hit some of the most impoverished coastlines where many millions of people could die, oh, looks like he may have done that too... let's see, natural disasters, plague, wars, ... or he could just be a jerk and kill every first born child in an entire country, because he's done that too.

Could you imagine how bad things would be if God wasn't good?
That's like saying, "Can you imagine how dark it would be if there was no light?" Just as light defines darkness, our God --who is good-- defines badness. God is goodness itself. God is the light.
