It's really sad what false doctrine has done to the minds of those who follow it.[/QUOTE]

you can insult all you want but that will not make you right . So when Jesus said it is finshed in the Gospel of John and gave up what? Spirit. Was the Spirit just His breath or is it God ? and If it was God where did it go? and is the body of Jesus a real Body please answer

Of course it's both. It is far more terrible than you can imagine. Desperate and lost for eternity. In agony and no relief for eternity.

All because men reject Gods mercy and grace in Christ.

For the cause of Christ

It cannot be both as different Churches teach different Doctrines ... so ... it is either: physical fire (hell flames) OR it is separation from God.
But, I get what you are saying ... both in the sense that either way you are not with God.

Separation from God, imo, seems fairer as torment by a loving God is inconsistent with Jesus.

Just because some mistakenly present an either/or scenario does not mean that you have to go along with it. All you have to do is study the subject from the Bible itself.

Eternal Hell (the Lake of Fire) is LITERALLY a Lake of fire and brimstone, and AT THE SAME TIME its inhabitants are eternally separated from God. There is no reason for both things not to exist at the same time.
