Think about it. Sin comes in every way, shape and form. Thinking impure thoughts is a sin. Looking at a girl in a sexual way is a sin (which man can honestly say he can go days on end without doing this?), and even should you go a whole day without a sin you would probably be proud of your accomplishment giving way to pride -- which, you guessed it, is a sin.

Bottom line is I can't stand to hear that we must be perfect in order to receive salvation as some preach on here. Do these people honestly think they are sinless? Maybe they are not in bondage of ONE particular sin but they are in bondage to all kinds of separate smaller sins each day -- sins they may not even know they are committing.

I guess the spirit of this thread hinges on 1 John 1:8 "If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us."

Without naming names of certain forum members, what do you make of 1 John 1:8? The Bible is saying that if you say you have no sin then the truth is NOT in you. That would scare me if I were you.

I don't think so. But even if you don't actively sin, we are inherently sinful, so we can't avoid it.

First we have to know what God wants and what God's will is. Does God wants perfect Children on this earth?
God's will was made clear in the Old Testament. And when a Holy Prophet of God said these words there cannot be any doubt that God will have HIS WILL done in at least some people!

Ezekiel 36:25 to 27...Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.
Eze 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
Eze 36:27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

Do you have ANY doubt that God wants people to walk in HIS statutes and keep HIS judgements, and DO THEM? If you have do not read further, then I cannot help you see the Truth!

If you realize that God wants people.. He wills and WILL HE.... God will this and HE WILL DO THIS?
Now that we have no doubt what God wants/wills, we can look at what it is and how HE does this today.

We have to go to the NEW TESTAMENT to find out. What is it God wants.... Matthew 5:48.... BE PERFECT, and to not make us wonder what this perfect is, JESUS added these words.... EVEN AS YOUR FATHER IN HEAVEN IN PERFECT! So we have to be as perfect as our Father in heaven is perfect.

But HOW? Well God said he would put a NEW HEART, and a NEW SPIRIT in us and he will TAKE AWAY THE OLD STONY heart. That in the NEW TESTAMENT is.... 2 Corinths 5:17.... If ANY man be in Christ, he is a new creature: OLD THINGS ARE PASSED AWAY, BEHOLD ALL THINGS ARE BECOME NEW....

Do you see the NEW PERSON has NOTHING of the old? NOTHING! Not the same mind, not the same heart, not the same spirit. And the NEW IS IN CHRIST.... And did you know IN HIM IS NO SIN! NONE!

That is why God says.... 1 John 3:9.... Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

Do you see the SEED! The NEW HEART and NEW SPIRIT is the NEW SEED, the NEW CREATURE!!! You know what the problem is if we do not believe this? Then not even God's salvation can concour sin! Why should we even look at God for a way OUT?

If God cannot save us from sin while we are on this earth, why did His Son say.... BE PERFECT? Just to tease? Nope He knew what the NEW CREATURE IN HIM would be like! God says in Eph 4... They are ALL made to the same stature and likeness of CHRIST HIMSELF!

I believe there are perfect people right here on earth, right this moment, because God says so in HIS WORD. And when God declares a man perfect, that man is perfect as God is perfect! God and His will is still being done on earth! That I am sure of, even if the angels, or preachers do not agree.... God's salvation is PERFECT! The whole Bible teaches that!

I hope this can make you see, that it is not from the will of man, or the works of man that people are perfect, but by the WILL AND SALVATION IN CHRSIT!

God does this perfection, by IMPLANTING HIS SEED IN THE PERSON.... AT THE END OF HIS SANCTIFICATION...

Now read 1 John 1:8 to 10 again and see how the process is described there... Note the tences as well.... AFTER JESUS IS DONE WITH YOU SIN IS IN THE PAST TENSE!!!! like the OLD MAN IS GONE the NEW CREATURE CANNOT SIN!..

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1Jn 1:10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

If John really defended the position that believers are always sinning otherwise they are deceiving themselves, then he contradicted himself when he said this: 1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
...and this:

1 John 3:6,8 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. [8] He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Why would he say we should not sin when in a previous chapter he asserted that we always have sin in our lives? There is absolutely no logic in that, therefore there ought to be another interpretation of that verse.

Another passage people love to quote to defend continuation of sin in believers is Romans 7:14-25.

I would have expounded further but I'm heading out.

Another "must be perfect" doctrine. Wow, there will be a whole lot of people in heaven that got there not even needing Christ blood by the looks of it. Interesting that one can go their whole life, much less a day, sinless. I think there is some serious denial going one with people on here thinking they don't sin. Had you been there, I bet you guys would have been the first to throw the stone at the adulteress without even blinking an eye.

Dig deep, wilful sin against God leads to spiritual death!

Those who have truly repented and crucified their flesh with Christ as commanded do not sin wilfully against God! Hense the verses against 1 John 1-8, is no excuse to sin aginst God, when in many other verses it says and those who are OF God do not sin( wilfully) yes mistakes, faults, etc, not all sin the same!

What are you thinking about?

Php 4:8 Finally, my brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are right, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, think on these things.
When one is truly converted, and has gone through the baptism of repentance, followed by a working faith in love, the critical aspect of this conversion will be manifested in what we think about. The mind is a powerful weapon to either do good or evil, as we learn from scripture that says, he who does what is evil (sins) is of the devil, from 1 John 3:8, and I believe the mind is the portal for Satan to cause havoc with those who are still divided in their hearts, loving the world on one hand, then loving God on the other.
We are commanded to love the Lord our God, with all our heart, mind, and strength, and also to capture all out though to Jesus Christ, 2Co 10:5 pulling down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought into the obedience of Christ.
What a powerful scripture, calling us to guard our heart and mind in all areas of our life.
Sin begins in the mind or as a thought, Jas 1:13 Let no one being tempted say, I am tempted from God. For God is not tempted by evils, and He tempts no one.
Jas 1:14 But each one is tempted by his lusts, being drawn away and seduced by them.
Jas 1:15 Then when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin. And sin, when it is fully formed, brings forth death.
This clearly proves we are responsible before God for what we think about, and how these vile thoughts can lead to sin and death, there is no such thing as original sin, or the devil made me do it, no, sin begins in the mind, or in our thoughts, caused by what we PUT into it!
Are you filling your mind daily with the word of God? Seeking and digging deep for the truth as commanded by Jesus and the apostles? Are you challenging all the false teachings going on in the apostate churches today, or are you filling your mind and thoughts with all the vile propaganda on TV, Hollywood movies, all the witchcraft and magic books very popular in the church today?
I believe a truly converted person, will have a fire and passion for truth, seeking the wisdom of God with all his heart and soul, and will put away the foolish things, which cause distractions and divided hearts, against the pure teachings of Jesus Christ.
We cannot afford to let our guards down when it comes to what we put into our minds on a daily basis, we must not give the evil one a foothold, by opening the door just a little bit, no we must flee from all vileness, corruption, immorality, and the lies being propagated as truth in the church system today.
WE must put on the mind of Christ, follow the spirit of truth if we have been truly converted, then guard our heart and mind against the wiles of the devil, by abstaining from all appearances of evil, 1Th 5:21 Prove all things, hold fast to the good.
1Th 5:22 Abstain from every appearance of evil.
What we think about each day really matters, as the evil one wants us to get distracted, take our eyes and thoughts off of Christ, by putting thoughts into our minds that take us away from being a pure and holy bride, cleansed and purged of all vile thoughts, caused by what we put into it, through entertainments, conversations, music we focus on. Etc……
I know we are surrounded by the world, and all its lies, foul language, disrespect for Jesus, and God, worldly music, and foul jokes and conversations, there is no way around it, unless you are a monk, and lock yourself in a monastery forever. So being grounded in the truth, putting on the full armor of God, each and every day, hiding the word of God in your heart, praying, and standing aloof of the church system and all its lies and confusion, is a big step in keeping our thoughts focused on Christ, and walking an obedient life of faith, and heart purity.

Didn't Paul willfully sin at times? "I do what I do not want to do..."?

I understand your frustration concerning this issue. Remember people know what they are taught. If your in a church that teaches health, wealth and prosperity, then your going to believe in it. If we are not taught we are going to get sick because of sin, we are not all going to be wealthy because it is not biblical, because Money is the root of all kinds of evil and can be a wedge between God and salvation. We will prosper if we do God's will and not focus on our own selfish ambition. We as Christians deserve nothing, we have no rights to anything and when the Lord gives us something, we need to be grateful. What I am saying is that people don't know God's word. We sin from the minute we get up in the morning , till we go to sleep at night. Thats why God gave His Armor to wear. Ephisians 6:10-18.

Paul said it in Romans 7:14-20 Basically he is saying he wants to do good , however he can't because of sin. I always enjoy reading that scripture.

We can strive for perfection to do the best we can for the Lord, however we will never be perfect enough to receive salvation. We are saved by grace, not by anything we do, (works). Salvation is a free gift, He does not say okay do this , this and this and then you will be saved. No, He says take this gift of salvation , because I love you. We can't fix ourselves that is why Jesus died on the cross. Only He can fix us. We are all broken in some way and Jesus puts us back together one piece at a time.

We are all sinners, we all fall short and as Paul puts it We are as filthy rags.

The only reason we are rightious is because of the Blood Of Jesus, that covers our sins. Amen.

Radius where in the post did you find me saying they need not the BLOOD of Jesus? Are you crazy? How does Jesus cleanse us? With His blood on the cross, just like HE says in 1 John 3:9... Cleanse you from all unrighteousness (sin). Hey are you just pre-mind-made-up to appose what Jesus and God said? I did not write 1 John 3:9, or 1 John 5:18. And to make sure you read them i will have YOU POST those verses.... EVEN IF THE WHOLE WORLD LIES IN SIN, GOD's CHILDREN DOES NOT!

Nothing you do or say will change that fact.... IT IS WRITTRN IN HIS WORD... 1 John 5:18... 1 John3:9 ... POST IT I DARE YOU!

We should not sin is not a contradiction of 1 john 1:8 because john is speaking of willful sin, not only do we live in a sinful world, but our flesh alone is at war with our spirit, Paul said it best
I don't understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don't do it, instead I do what I hate, but if I am doing what I know is wrong this shows that I agree that the law is good, so I am not the one doing wrong, it is SIN LIVING IN ME that does it, and I know that NOTHING GOOD LIVES IN ME that is, in MY SINFUL NATURE, I want to do what is right, but I can't, I want to do what is good, but I don't ...I love God's. Law with all my heart, but there is ANOTHER POWER WITHIN ME THAT IS AT WAR WITH MY MIND, THIS POWER MAKES ME A SLAVE TO THE SIN THAT IS STILL WITHIN ME

Carey ALL SIN IS WILLFULL... It is the WILL OF SATAN that we sin, HE WILLS IT, and we FALL for it. God has a WAY out... HIS WILL IS WE DO NOT SIN... LET US FALL FOR THAT then we do not follow Satan in sin, but God in righteousness.

Be you perfect as your Father in Heaven is perfect.

Give Loving Acts to All:

Mat 5:45-7 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?

Mat 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Eph 5:1-2 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

There is NO verse in the Bible where a person gave his heart to Jesus. There is NO verse in the Bible that teach Jesus' blood covers sin. There is no verse in the Bible that gives ANY PERSON permission to sin. There is NO verse in the Bible that says we will aLWAYS be sinners and fall short. But the OPPOSITE is taught... SIN NOT, BE HOLY, BE PERFECT, BE RIGHTEOUS. BE ALIVE, BE OBEDIENT. WALK IN TRUTH! WALK AS CHILDREN OF THE LIGHT... ETC. ETC. ETC. I wonder why God says it so many places.... GO AND SIN NO MORE!!!! Maybe He knows that if HE DOES GIVE US A NEW LIFE IN CHRIST,,,,, SIN IS NO MORE~!!!!1

My grandmother ever says me that you have to ask God to forgive and clean Us of or sins everyday. I believe in that too.
Job asked God's forgiveness for their children, whether they sin or not...
Sometimes we sin in thought, or against our brother without realizing...so we have to aware and understand that as humans, we are bound to make mistakes and sometimes do not even realize.

Why would the Bible give us instructions to follow that are humanly IMPOSSIBLE. Be perfect? LOL it is approaching comedic levels in here now. I think it is teaching us what to strive for...not to obtain.
