Leave Doctrine at the door? Never going to happen. ALL Truth, is Doctrine and Doctrine is what separates believers from those who are imitation. Either we follow the Doctrinal Truths are we are following something else. That something else are our experiences. Experiences are subjective and most be measured against the Objective Truth revealed, the Scriptures, as to their genuineness.
Acts 17:11 Now these were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of the mind, examining the Scriptures daily, whether these things were so.
As to the importance of Doctrine:
Job_11:4 For thou sayest, My doctrine is pure, And I am clean in thine eyes.
Rom_16:17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them that are causing the divisions and occasions of stumbling, contrary to the doctrine which ye learned: and turn away from them.
Eph_4:14 that we may be no longer children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, in craftiness, after the wiles of error;
1Ti_1:3 As I exhorted thee to tarry at Ephesus, when I was going into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge certain men not to teach a different doctrine,
1Ti_1:10 for fornicators, for abusers of themselves with men, for men stealers, for liars, for false swearers, and if there be any other thing contrary to the sound doctrine;
1Ti_6:1 Let as many as are servants under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, that the name of God and the doctrine be not blasphemed.
1Ti_6:3 If any man teaches a different doctrine, and consent not to sound words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
There are many more verses on the importance of good Doctrine.
If my Christian life or that of another does not follow sound Doctrine then we must examine ourselves. Doctrines are simply the Truths of God placed into specific categories, for the purpose of instruction. Example Theology, Soteriology, Eschatology and so on.
Leave Doctrine at the door? May it never be.
