There are a few questions that are unanswered regarding eternity in the new Jerusalem such as, who are the nations living on the earth and why are the leaves of the tree of life necessary for healing since everyone becomes immortal and glorified at the time of the resurrection and gathering?
I hate to sound puffed up but this is so simple.. Adam and Eve where in a state of immortality in the Garden of Eden because?

Because they had access to the Tree of Life.. Once they ate of the tree of knowledge of good and evil they lost access to the Tree of Life and thus they no longer had access to the tree that caused them to be immortal...

Therefore this tree in the New Jerusalem is the same as the Tree of Life ( It may very well be the exact same tree ) and we shall have access to it so that we shall live forever more..

[/COLOR]I think that you should rethink your question, because since the New Jerusalem is approx. 1500 miles wide, long and high, that would mean that the city would be sticking well out into space beyond the atmosphere by about 1450 miles, since space is only 50 to 60 miles from the earth's surface. So, your concern about the city being in space is irrelevant, because whether your way or my way, it will be in space.
Of course the top of the City will be poking out into outer space which is why i believe the City will be like a Borg Cube :)
But the river that flows in it will probably be at the lower level of the City and will be coming out of the city across the land..

Who heals the nations?

Rev 22:2

down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations
And? When Jesus said he was the bread of life did that make Him a loaf of bread?

If Adam and Eve ALREADY had access to the tree of life, we would not be reading this in the Bible:

And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever... (Gen 3:22)

And so they were driven out of Eden because of this possibility.

Hello Adstar,

It is important to discern the difference between the body vs. the spirit/soul. That said, when Adam and Eve ate from the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they lost access to the tree of life which would have allowed their bodies to be immortal.

The spirit/soul of every person who comes into the world exists forever, however, the body dies and decays. The spirit of the Rich man of Lazarus fame, went into Sheol/Hades prior to Christ appearing in the flesh and he is still there till this day in torment in flame, but his body has long turned to dust. At the great white throne judgment, the rich man will be resurrected, his spirit being reunited to his resurrected body and he will stand before God and will be judged for all of sins, where he will then be thrown into the lake of fire.

My point being that whether orbiting the earth or sitting on it, space would be an issue in both cases. However, we don't even know if space will be the same as it is now. It just seems more plausible that if the nations on the earth walk in its light, then it would have to be orbiting the earth. But these are things that we really can't know at this point because we're not there yet and there just isn't enough information.

Blessings to you

Adam and Eve had access to the tree of life which was in the garden the only restriction that God imposed upon them was not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil..

Genesis 2: KJV
15 "And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. {16} And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: {17} But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."

So Adam and Eve had access to Every tree to eat from in the garden of Eden except for the Tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil.. So they had access to the Tree of Life and they could eat from it..

Nope. It is an analogy and there is nothing disgusting about it. :D I think it is a good analogy myself since the New Jerusalem will come down out of heaven to men and will be a cube.. Much much bigger then a Borg cube of course and much better build :cool:

Yes and Adam and Eve as long as they lived in the garden of Eden and had access to the Tree of Life would have continued to live forever as long as they has access to eat from the tree of life.. But because they broke Gods cammandment not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil they where driven out of Eden and lost access to the tree of Life and thus they grew old and died as we all do..

The spirit/soul of every person who comes into the world exists forever, however, the body dies and decays.
Agreed..

The spirit of the Rich man of Lazarus fame, went into Sheol/Hades prior to Christ appearing in the flesh
Prior to Christ appearing in the flesh??? Where in the Bible is this stated ? I have never read it..

""his resurrected body"" ... He will not have the body he existed in during his time on earth.. He will have an eternal body that will be able to be burn't for ever and ever without being consumed and distroyed..

But then again maybe lazarus may have been preached to in Hell by Jesus during the 3 days and nights Jesus body was in the tomb..

1 Peter 3: KJV
18 "For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: {19} By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;"

God understands my intent and understands i am using the Borg cube as an analogy only in relation to the shape of the New Jerusalem. God also knows when people are feigning false offense and making a mountain out of a mole hill merely as an attempt to undermine other people when they cannot use any legitimate points to counter their position.. :D My God is Awesome..

You have God resurrecting a man, putting a spirit into a body and then passing judgement just to destroy him again. If that is the case, God is sure going about it the hard way. You are already calling the outcome of the judgement. I think you should dig some more, maybe God is not doing it your way. :cool:

The anti-Christ... Tribulation

I'm pretty sure he'll return in Sept, but I haven't figured out what year yet :)

I believe we are living in the time of the 5th Seal,

Hi love,

I am not sure if you were being funny or not but saying that you
re pretty sure that Jesus will return in a specific day is very misleading and wrong, We cannot estimate how many days, years, or minutes Christ will come with our human like knowledge or understanding. Jesus said if you want to know when he returns look around you.. and use your free gift of discernment. NONE of US can ever estimate when he will come, HE JUST WANT US TO BE PREPARED. the lord says that WARNING COMES BEFORE DESTRUCTION! He will warn us and sends us messages like in the DAYS of NOAH and people will NOT HEAR HIM! Do not say Jesus will come this day or that day because if GOD hasn't REVEALED that to NO ONE NOT EVEN THE ANGELS! He will COME IN A TIME UNEXPECTED AND WE NEED TO PREPARE SO WE MAY BE SEEN blameless before his eyes! Watch and PRAY AS THE SCIPTURE SAYS!

You have God resurrecting a man, putting a spirit into a body and then passing judgement just to destroy him again.
The word "anastasis" translated "Resurrection" is derived from two words "ana = up again, histemi = to stand." Properly to "stand up again." The resurrection always has to do with the physical body standing up again.

When the rich man of the rich man and Lazarus died, his spirit departed from his body and went down to Sheol/Hades where he was in torment in flame where he was and is in torment in flame. At the time of the great white throne judgment, his body will be resurrected with his spirit coming out of Sheol/Hades and will be reunited with his now resurrected body. He will stand before God at the great white throne judgment in that resurrected body and will then be thrown into the lake of fire, which is the final punishment.

I'm assuming by your use of the word "destroy" that you believe in annihilation or nonexistence, but according to scripture that is not what happens. Death is state of conscious existence and is related to ones standing with God. When the rich man's body died, his spirit was conscious and aware in Sheol/Hades. When scripture uses the word "sleep" it is only in reference to the body, not the spirit.

If that is the case, God is sure going about it the hard way. You are already calling the outcome of the judgement. I think you should dig some more, maybe God is not doing it your way.
There will be several judgments that take place, the church at the Bema seat of Christ, the sheep and the goats when Christ returns to end the age and the great white throne judgment, which will take place at the end of the thousand year reign of Christ which will consist of all of the unrighteous dead throughout all of history. So, here is the order of events for the unrighteous:

Death of the body = the spirit departs and goes into Sheol/Hades, conscious and aware in torment in flame

Great white throne judgment = Spirit is released from Sheol/Hades and is reunited with resurrected body

Books are opened = They will be judged according to every sin written in those books

Book of Life = Anyone's name not found written in the book of life is cast into the lake of fire

So I assure you, I would not post this information unless I had already done my digging. Below is the scripture representing the great white throne judgment.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled away, and no place was found for them. 12And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds. 13And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds. 14Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
As Shakespeare wrote ''All the worlds a stage'' The stage is being set. All of the scenery is being moved around ready for the Actors to make their appearance. When they do though it wont be a dress rehearsal
I have heard something before by someone... Kinda to the same effect friend tanakh.
They said this world is a school, and no one expects to stay in school forever.
Exactly. I was saying that the tree of life doesn't have to be literal. Just like the bread.
God uses trees to illustrate spiritual things many times.
If you don't agree you don't agree.
