The television set itself is no more wicked than the table you eat your dinner at. But what comes into your homve VIA the television set is. The programs coming into your home through the television set are in no way glorifying God.
They breed wickedness in the hearts of those setting the wicked thing before there eyes.

Psalm 101:3 (KJV)
3 I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.

As this wickedness is set before your eyes is does cleave to you.

Here is one of many examples.

Police: Man kills grandmother over what to watch on TV
By Isolde Raftery, NBC News
A 25-year-old New York man was arrested Friday after he told police that he killed his grandmother following a debate over what to watch on TV.
Clarence Newcomb, 25, called 911 at 4:35 a.m. Friday. Arriving at the home in Kings Park, on Long Island, where the two have lived for years, police found 82-year-old Kathleen Newcomb lying dead in the living room.
Clarence Newcomb told police that he physically assaulted her and did not use a weapon.

He has lived with his grandmother since he was 3, according to a police spokesman. There was no history of domestic violence, the spokesman said.
As for the shows that sparked the argument, police don’t know.

Clarence Newcomb was supposed to be charged by the district attorney on Friday, although that was delayed when he was sent to the hospital with several health concerns, according to the police spokesman.

You may pass this off as just one mans opinion. But I ask you to put this to the test to see if the wickedness coming into your home through the television set has clung to you and your family.

Woman while your hubby is watching the ball game change the channel and see what his reaction is.

Men while your wife is watching her favorite program change the channel and see how she reacts.

Brothers/sisters while your sibling is watching a program on the tv change the channel see what there reaction is.

You want to see how this television set has become wicked test it our and prove for yourself how it has taken over you and your loved ones. See for yourselves how it has bread wickedness in the hearts of those setting it before there eyes.

When you are watching your fav. sitcom, reality tv, ball game, etc. How do you react when it is interrupted by another in your home or a power outage or equipment malfunction or what ever else may interrupt your program.

Does it upset you, anger you, frustrate you, diapoint you, Etc.

If so it has bread wickedness into your heart.

I don’t think TV in itself is evil. It can be used for both evil and good.

I agree, the TV is niether good or evil but it can be used for good or evil.

I believe the majority of shows and children's programing is not good for us to watch. Certainly it displays worldly values and blatantly makes fun of Christianity. I am very selective on what I allow to enter my eye and ear gates.

I would say stop eating: food at that point has become more important to you than another human, who Christ also died for. If you will put that food above another than I would say stop eating.

We are to LOVE God first then LOVE our neighbor. If our LOVE for food or anything for that matter means more to us than God and man it must be put away from us.

Matthew 22:36-40 (KJV)
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Mark 12:28-33 (KJV)
28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?
29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
32 And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:
33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.

Luke 10:25-37 (KJV)
25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
26 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?
27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.
29 But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?
30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.
33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,
34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.
36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?
37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

Luke 6:27-31 (KJV)
27 But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,
28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.
29 And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not to take thy coat also.
30 Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.
31 And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

the tv is evil if you let it affect you in negative ways...otherwise its not a big deal. Besides seeing how we are all doing this online(chatting and hatnot) if someone else wants to use the tv, then cool, I have headphones and the internet to continue watching whatever it is i was watching.

The Internet has far more access to "evil" than the TV. Some religious groups will not allow their members to have a TV in their homes because of the content, but allow them to have high speed internet. Just saying is all!

I completely agree on the internet issue. That is not the point. I clearly stated it is not the tv that is evil it is what a person allows to come into there homes VIA the tv.
Sitcoms, reality tv, soaps, talk shows daytime and night time, comedians, childrens, comedies, etc.

If it does not Glorify or bring Glory to God and his name or his word it should not be allowed into the home.
Even the comercials have to go. You can not even watch what claimes to be christain broadcasting without being hammered by sinful advertisement.

Why let this come into your home?

I often wonder why people blame "things" for their bad behaviors. The condition of the heart is the real issue here, not TV. The main cause of not glorifying God is the choice a person makes. A person can choose to glorify God or not glorify God, regardless if they watch TV or not.

If a person places such evils before there eyes and ears, how long before they find themselve taking part in it themselves??

I work with many professing christians who have shared with me how they have found themselves taking part in the same filthy talking and jesting as the unbelievers when they stand there and listen to what they are saying. This is the danger of allowing such evil to be set before us.

To set and watch the filth on TV we are taking pleasure in there wickedness, in there sin.

Romans 1:16-32 (KJV)
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

So to allow this trash into your home is taking pleasure in all that is wrong in the eyes of God.

You completely missed the point.
If you find the food to be more important than the person setting with you, you need to rethink your faith.
If the very act of someone taking something from you angers you, where is your love for the person?
Rather than become angry when someone takes something from you, love them, have compassion on them seek to find out why they did what they did.

1 Corinthians 6:5-7 (KJV)
5 I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?
6 But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers.
7 Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another.
Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?

You are not the first and you will not be the last to tell me this. And thats ok you are entitled to your own opinion of another.

The only opinion of me that matters to me is what God thinks of me. Thats all that matters, so you calling me crazy does not effect my having compation on you or anyone else.

What another says or does to me does not effect how I feel. I am the only one who can control my emotions, only I have effect on how I feel.

One person can not make another angry, sad, glad, happy, Etc. by what they say or do, it is only you who stirs the emotions in yourself.

Fallen man is evil. We better stop looking at people and/or in the mirror.

The old testament has violence iin it. Tear that part out.

The heart to the natural man is exceedingly evil.
Jer 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Mr 7:21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
The natural man cannot receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

I agree that TV shows are 90% garbage. What we watch brings us back to free will, and our relationship with God.

Lets see how long we can drag this discussion around in circles.

Matthew 14:17 But we only have five loaves and two fish here," they said to Him.

If I trust in Jesus, I will have what I need along with some leftovers. I can stand to loose a little weight anyway.
Romans 12:20 On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head."

Is T.V.Evil? Is an airplane evil to? or a car, all made by woman and man. Do you see the only point I am making here bro? If you yourself look upon these things as being evil to you, then they are! I sure judge you not!! Rom 14:13-23!!!) What each of us fills our mind with what we all have is what matters most. I have seen people saved through a T.V program!

I have seen people healed by watching a T.V station as well!! LOL Since we all know the Lord can use anyone,or anything, why not allow him the pleasure of doing this without judgement upon others who enjoy it? Now if you came to my house, and I knew you believed T.V. was a sin to you!! I would not have it on!!

Beacuse this could cause you to stumble!God forbid that!(Matt 18:6-7) Same as a brother i know, who does not believe in eating meat as rom 14:23-talks about. But meat and tv and a car are no problem or stumbling to me.HOWEVER!!! Yes there is a however!! LOL This all depends upon what you watch so much of everyday as well,as to the help, or hinderence of ones own faith.blessing all!
