so we had a pedophile here in CC.... that's scary.
evil is everywhere. drive down the road in the city and see all kinds of immoral junk going on.
one time someone said we shouldn't go into any place that sells alcohal. so I started to say, better not get any gas, cause those stations sell that too.

it's about accountability. integrity. and a strong personal relationship with GOD, and the armor of GOD working in our lives.

My comment goes hand in hand with the fact that though as believers of the Lamb of Yahweh we are holy, that is to say, separate from the world.

Though we are separate we cannot leave this age on our own, therefore we are in the world but not of it. Television can be useful, just as the Internet can be useful, or do you believe the Internet is any different than television?

How can anything that places us in a position of drinking in the food offered as sacrifice to idols not be evil?

You spoke rightly that it is not the gun that does the killing but the corrupted spirit which the people unwisely drank in.

I had a wise person give me advice about raising my child. He told me I have to teach him how to live IN the world, but not be a part of it.
It's true. We can guard ourselves from everything and end up becoming ignorant, and naive. Or we can go out there and fight it.
A soldier doesnt fight by hiding under a rock. If they did that theyd lose the war.

Yeah, I see a lot of people trying to shelter their kids from the world, but when it comes time for those kids to be adults they don't know how to handle the situations presented to themselves because they always hid behind mothers skirt.
Knowledge is power, and knowing how to use that power to fight to the good fight, and not just coward away isn't what GOD wants us to do.

I have the same issue with homes schooling, a child needs to learn how to respond to the worlds criticisms of our HOLY Life GOD calls us to be and to not be ashamed.

You think the internet isn't as evil? What about hackers, piracy and other illegal activity online?
The point I was trying to make is both tv, and internet can be used to purposes that are sinful, but that doesn't mean that a Christian is forbidden to have either. There is evil everywhere. Not just on a screen. If a person plans on stayed away from evil and not being in contact with it then they may as well just never leave their home.
We will be exposed to things that are not Godly, and as Christians we know how to handle those situations.

FYI, just because this is a Christian site doesnt mean it is immune to evil either. I found out yesterday a man that I used to talk to in the chat rooms on occasion here was a pedophile. He has been banned thank goodness, but that is just one example of how the internet isn't safe. You don't know who you are talking to.
Yes, this is a wonderful site. I love many people here, but that doesn't make this place "safe". Sin is everywhere. We just need to learn how to guard ourselves so we are not vulnerable to it.
Hackers, piracy, lions, oh my. Was it so terrible to hack the internet and keep the web open for our Egyptian brothers and sisters during their recent Arab Spring? Is it so terrible that Anonymous is constantly running DDOS attacks against the NAMBLA (child molesters) web site? It only becomes terrible when they hack my credit card or something like that.

You're point is good, both television and internet have lots of evil. But the internet offers me a choice, television only offers a different channel. Last night I decided to try out the English Standard Version by reading Galatians. Fox, MSNBC, MTV, they didn't have one, so I went on the internet and found it: Galatians 1 - ESVBible.org - Paul, an apostle—not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father, who.... Before the internet it would have been a trip to the library or bookstore, but now I can read the Bible on my 4G phone. I love the 21st century....

And, yes, brothers and sisters, predators are attracted to Christian Chat. It's not hard to understand, the predators don't really understand Christians and they think we're all loving and weak-minded at the same time. Report suspicious behavior to the moderators immediately.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Revelation 13:15:

And he had power to give life to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. Revelation 13:15

Never in the history of mankind has something like this existed; yet here it is.

Reading comp skills not very good, ay? It says the image was given life and made to speak. What image is more ubiquitous in the world, and worshiped by those in the world than what appears on TV?
