Is that the power of Holy Spirit?

I also hate it when some brother dude be pushing on your head like he is pushing open a door...I stopped a very well known public charismaniac Evangelist that was doing that to me and loudly and boldly told him, look , nobody drops this man, but the Holy Ghost...he continued down the line and got at least 50 it not 100 courtesy drops.....


I also detest courtesy drops when I preach in churches or doing ministry in general....In fact, I go so tired of them I asked the Holy Ghost to show me who to pray for and skip on prayer lines.....

I had the same thing happen to me with a well-known Canadian preacher many years ago when he tried to push me down - as if the Lord would work better if I was on the ground.

A couple of years ago I talked with one of his co-workers and we laughed about how he had tried to push me down. This man since back then has caught on to the message of grace and has stopped trying to do that now.

In saying that - I have been in meetings where some people did legitimately fall from the power of the Spirit on them. However most that fall at other times - I would say that most are just doing that themselves as that is how they react themselves to how they perceive the Holy Spirit is on them.

There is a genuine power display as the Spirit wills and this can be seen when Jesus said "I am" to those that were looking for Him in the garden the night He was betrayed.

Scripture says that they all fell backward .

Preach it brother Willie, I try to avoid using that term whenever I can...it has been so misapplied....

I don't win points with people for doing this, but usually when someone new comes to our church and tell me....I want you to know I operate in the gift of discernment......I usually tell them you do not operate in the gift of discernment you engage in the practice of judgement.....

They usually get upset, but then I teach them on the spot there is no gift of discernment.....they usually never come back....

excepting for the trolls on CC, I keeps my discernment between me and God

Ive had people try to push me, but not very hard. They give up pretty quickly when they see the look on my face. I shall not be moved.lol But a genuine move of the Spirit is another thing all together. I was in a service where a young man was moved by the Spirit to quietly pray for people during worship. People began falling down and the pastor was unable to preach. It was quiet except for people praying and crying. Its very easy to tell the flesh from the Spirit.

After reading the post, it seems people allowed themselves to be bowled over out of respect for the false teacher, kind of like, gee, I don't want to embarrass him, so I will just fall down when he pushes on me because obviously that is what he wants me to do

I myself am very wary of some of these sorts of manifestations - laughter, slain-in-the-Spirit, etc.

But, I like this post of Joidevivre - Why? Because it is personal and real - it doesn't try to say that if it doesn't happen to you this way you are not a spiritual person.

I think that Satan is doing a lot of imitations and false representations of the Spirit, but that does negate true manifestations of the Spirit - but all must be done in a decent way and according to Scripture.

I would say to be very careful though, about the idea that "You can only discern rightly when you, yourself, have an experience." Experience is not the basis for discernment of truth.

I discern rightly when I experience something in the presence of God based on the fruits of that experience. If it, indeed, causes me to know even more deeply how loved I am by Jesus, and I find that I can't stop praising him for days - then I know the Holy Spirit is only doing His work - testifying of Jesus to me in a personal way. Even Jesus said we know by the fruits.

Haha its funny,I just bought a German Shepard pup. Shes four months now and a lot bigger than my American Eskie in the picture. But the Eskie can still take her down in a hot minute. She's pretty jealous and she attacked the Shepard today, bit her on the foot. She walks away limping and crying. I thought Id get a Shepard for protection when hubby is working and the Eskie is more fierce than the Shepard! smh

I noticed that in some kind of churches, when the priest touch the shoulders of some people, they will suddenly fall down, move uncontrollably and start saying weird languages. These Churches believe that that's how the Holy Spirit works.

However, i kind of doubt it. I believe that the Holy Spirit work in us to make us brave in telling people about Jesus, keep us in the right way, and many other productive things. Whereas, in the belief of some people from certain churches, the power of Holy Spirit is about making people fall down and say weird things. Well yea, it might be the part of the power, but why do people keep emphasising it like it's the only power of Holy Spirit?

My question is, does that thing (making people fall down, laugh uncontrollably, hold a service without any liturgies because they believe that everything will happen spontaneously by the power of Holy Spirit, etc) REALLY come from Holy Spirit? If it does, why do people keep glorifying (acting like it is the only amazing thing about Christianity), where actually as Christians, we are supposed to worship Trinity equally?

p.s. i don't know what these churches are called in English, but probably it's Charismatic (Bethel)

haha...that's some of my reasoning for having a big dog...our last beloved big dog, Bullmastiff/Am Bulldog cross earned the name chicken dog from me...but I loved that dog! we still miss him...he got bone cancer and there is nothing they can do for that...kept him as long as we could...people did back away from him...but all he had to give was love and silliness. We have his son.

I've always been a fan of the shepherds but never had one...I really like the Shilohs...long haired..

What is this gift of discernment you are talking about? There is no gift of discernment that I am aware of...there is a gift of discerning of spirits, but that is not what you are describing here....

The gift of discerning of spirits allows the person the Holy Ghost will to operate in that gift, the ability to see and hear in the spiritual realm...simply put it allows the person to see angels or demons....It also allows the person to know what Spirits are operating inside of or outside of someone....

Plain old discernment is not a gift but comes from the meat or solid food of the Word and having your senses exercised to discern between good and evil...

could you explain this a bit more clearly?
are you saying that you are able to see who will ascend and who will descend?

Its not really about having enough faith. Some people are more open to the moving of the Spirit. That being said there is order still. Some churches go hog wild and that is too far the other way. There is balance. You dont talk in tongues all service through. I haven't attended the services your youth are talking about so I cannot tell if they are doing things in order or not. I have loved hymns since I was young,I know most of them by heart. Again, balance in all things.

Why did HE weep but because there would be lost souls

what is happening for these 15 Year olds, if there is no one who is strong in the faith and able to discern the TRUTH of whether the GOSPEL has been heard and received, these 15 year olds are relying on an experience which pleases the lower sensual carnal self and is not spiritual

You have stumbled onto the truth however that discernment come from the word of God. The Holy Spirit shows what is true and what is fake.

When the enemies of God are slain by the Holy Spirit they fall backwards. When Moses fell before Jehovah God he fell on his face. The soldiers that came to take Jesus in the garden fell backwards. Paul on the road to Damascus fell on his face before the Lord.

The Holy Spirit is the gift we receive the moment we are saved. The Holy Spirit is the gift by which we are sealed unto eternal life.

Eph 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
