Our animal body is certainly a source of various temptations. Sexuality, aggression, survival, selfishness, various hormones and chemistry... It fights against the Spirit.

I didn't say he was hyper grace, but just that some his teaching has some of its elements. For example stressing identity as the way to overcome sin. I think there were some other things that struck me as being the same, but I can't remember what they were.
I wouldn't say identity is the way to overcome sin, but part of the process. We have to remember that God sanctifies us, not morality. He is the one that brings to life righteousness in our inner and outer being. Making us who were once dead in trespasses alive in Christ. Knowing how God sees us is very important, especially in regards to not feeling condemnation and alienation from God. Our identity is all wrapped up in the way God now views us through the blood of Christ. No longer condemned, the children of God.

Understanding who we have been made permits us to carry ourselves in that way. Belief is a powerful thing, this is why God would have us renew our minds. There is a story of a man who set the fastest time in running a race that people thought was impossible, but after he did it other runners in droves followed suit. They saw that is was possible, and then did it. Seeing how God views us, how He expects us to behave (walk in holiness and righteousness), grants us an understanding of what is possible because He clearly has made the way. Why else tell us to reckon ourselves dead to sin and alive unto God? To not let sin reign in our mortal bodies?

We are BORN with a sinful nature and even though we might be obediant and taught right from wrong by our parents and lead a "good person" life...we arent SAVED from that sinful nature until we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior of our lives and confess our sins to Him..only then does He seperate our sins as far as the east is from the rest..remembers them no more and the slate of our lives is wiped clean by His cleansing blood..
You are saying that you are eternally saved by your works, and yes, accepting and confessing are works ( any action required from man is works ). Once we have been saved eternally, we have two natures within us, the flesh and the Spirit and Paul says that we have a battle within us, the flesh against the Spirit. Some times we lose to the flesh and have to repent to gain our fellowship with God back. When he forgives us he delivers, saves, us from a non-fellowship with him. repenting, accepting and confessing our sins has nothing to do with our eternal salvation.

I use the KJV, not the NIV.

God bless you brother
so?

I don't believe that is the NIV anyway

here is the NIV

6 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[c] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

here's the KJV

18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.

20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

seems sin is still taking up residence any ole who

You have missunderstood it. In one of his other videos this guy told that if somebody lives in sin and has no intention to stop, then he is not a Christian at all.

Again, we no longer are sinners. 2 Corinthians 5:17

God bless you

2 Corinthians 5:17 King James Version

17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

where does that say we are no longer capable of sin? or as you ask 'sinners' this dude whose video you posted is hyper grace. you are not the first one to post videos by him

I agree you cannot continue in sin or 'live in sin', that is continued and willful sinning, but did you notice the word 'therefore' at the beginning of v 17?

that indicates that v17 is a CONCLUSION of what went before it. it is not a stand alone verse upon which to form doctrine, but rather a part of a bigger picture that does form doctrine

5 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:

3 If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.

4 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.

5 Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.

6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:

7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight

8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.

10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

12 For we commend not ourselves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that ye may have somewhat to answer them which glory in appearance, and not in heart.

13 For whether we be beside ourselves, it is to God: or whether we be sober, it is for your cause.

14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:

15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.

17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

this is speaking of Christ reconciling us to God, not of our not having sin in our bodies

what is new is our spirits are regenerated. we are going to get new bodies.

sakes...if we actually had no sin? I suspect we would all fly up to heaven cause sin is the only thing keeping us here...besides gravity

by one man sin entered the world

sin is not 'sins'

I really really wish people would learn to read the bible properly before they spout about what it says. For example; Romans 7:18. Did the person who slung it into the fray read what came before? I think not. Instead, he used a single verst to build his entire doctrine on....and he's wrong. The Word clearly says we are free from that aspect of the law. Read it for yourself. 5 For when we were living according to our old nature, the passions connected with sins worked through the Torah in our various parts, with the result that we bore fruit for death. 6 But now we have been released from this aspect of the Torah, because we have died to that which had us in its clutches, so that we are serving in the new way provided by the Spirit and not in the old way of outwardly following the letter of the law.[/QUOTE]

spot on and I read this after I posted what I did and I made the same observation

I don't know when folks are going to quit selecting verses like a piece of chocolate out of a box

reminds me, some people will nibble on a piece and if they don't like it put it back (yuck)

you can't do that...

I'm not hungry but that's what came to mind for a metaphor

I never said that, but I believe we should see ourselves that way God sees us.

God bless
for some reason, John says that if we say we have no sin we call God a liar

so God is still noticing it.

this is not deliberate and ongoing sin...but our new nature is in Christ...we have not suddenly become some alien being who is just waiting at the terminal for a lift to heaven

This is more of the misinformation that I was talking about. None of the prominent teachers, that I know of, teach that "Christians do not need to deal with their present sins." In fact, they teach the exact opposite, however the method may differ. Sure they teach that sin does not condemn the believer to Hell, and how could it? Did not Christ die to pay for all our sins? If He didn't, as God's word clearly reveals, He as the sacrificial lamb, would have to suffer since the foundation of the world (in Hebrews). It also says, "where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin." Our sins have experienced remission, by the shed blood of Christ. This doesn't excuse sin though.

They emphasize Romans 6, just as much as the Apostle Paul taught that we ought to reckon ourselves dead to sin and alive unto God.
How one comes away with such a view (of not dealing with sin) from such teachers is not through firsthand experience but hearsay.

Just noticed. Great beard ben! :)

Greetings, I changed my mind on the subject, the Holy Spirit informed me that the sin nature is true, but also that it is dead (Romans 8:10) and we no longer have to live in it!

I think you missunderstood this video. It's not our second nature that causes to stumble, but our fights against the dark powers of this world (Ephesians 6:12) which causes us to look back at the first Adam.

God bless you
Ephesians 6:12
King James Version(KJV)

12.)For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

It is dead but not gone. We have to think of it as dead but we can still choose to obey it:
Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, and do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.

I think what "It Is dead but not gone"means Is, a person has been learning up until salvation to depend on their flesh picking up bad habits that should be dropped but now after salvation we have been equipped by GOD and should renew our minds to the WORD of GOD.
