I honestly wouldn't have picked on this first post, I can actually agree with the above in the same way it might be figured to agree in the following

Phil 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Psalm 22:16 For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me:
they
pierced my hands and my feet.

Although, it was after Jesus was found dead (even after his hands and feet had already been pierced)
when these two come in.

John 19:33
But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already,
they brake not his legs:

Breaking the bones in their legs would hasten ones death, and that was unnecessary in this case

John 19:34
But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side,
and forthwith came there out blood and water.

John 19:36
For these things were done,
that the scripture should be fulfilled,

A bone of him shall not be broken.

John 19:37
And again another scripture saith,

They shall look on him whom they pierced.

No problem with you using "through" (if by that you mean "pierced") as it pertains to his hands and feet and for sake of argument I suppose you could use the achillis heel part of the foot, no?

You can pierce that through I believe without needing to mention bone, I would think, this guy did it

Not sure whether this kind of example could be used in that manner of crucifiction or not, I would let someone else battle the details on the bone issue.

I have missed your color co-ordinated posts, LOL.

I did something on this over one of the many study weekends I used to frequent years ago before I met Jesus.

The body had to be supported by nails not rope, The nails for the hands were fairly thin and had large heads usually 2 or 3 inches in diameter so they could not be pulled through the hand with the involuntary writhing the subject would do because of the pain. The nails for the feet were made from a point to about 1 1/2 inch wide at the end, like a round steel wedge.

The base of the hand nearly at the wrist is the strongest part, and because of the mass of small bones and ligament it will not tear under the pressure of up to 180 kilo's or more so will hold the weight of a very heavy person.

The feet were not placed on top of each other but at either side of the upright, The nails would have to go through the heel bone to support the body and the wedge shape would mean a permanent fix with no chance of the nail being pulled through. The support was not meant to give relief but the piercing of this bone also effected a nerve in the foot which gave rise to some of the involuntary jerkings of the body as it hung there.

The recipient would not be able to pull themselves up with their outstretched arms or hands to give the feet rest and also could not push up on their feet to give their hands a rest from the strain. Death usually occurred after about 36 hours.

We do not think about this very much do we really? We do not consider the agony of Jesus as He hung there, even before He went to the cross we are told "He was disfigured more than any man" we should not be able to recognise him if we were to see him.

He face two forces who gave Him over to death (just as an interjection any one put to death in Israel had to be accused by two witnesses) the Jews and the Romans (gentiles), Jesus had to run the gauntlet of the two forces at their most fearful. The Jews wanted not to upset the apple cart of Rome and Jesus teachings made sure they were frightened of what the Romans would do if they thought the Jewish authorities couldn't handle their own territory so they took their fear out on beating Him "He gave his back to the smitters and His cheeks to those who pulled out his hair".

The Roman solders were full of fear, in a strange country, with zealots around every corner they also took out their fear on this man bought before them.

No wonder Jesus sweat great drops of blood, he knew what was coming and was faithful to the end.

WOW what a wonderful God, Hallelujah!!!

after reading your comment bro, I just was so lifted in spirit, thank you again for that word from the Lords good and Loving spirit, meant a lot and was perfect in time.

as I read it I looked down at my bible I was reading just before in 1 john and as I looked down I saw this

5:13-15 "I write these things to you who believe in the name of the son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. This is the confidence we have in approaching God : that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us, and if we know that he hears us- whatever we ask- we know that we have what we ask of Him "

I had been praying for that lift, and bam, Our Father answered perfectly from someone I love dearly in the Lord ! He is TRULY a wonderful Loving , compassionate and always present God and FATHER who cares for every detail of His children who Live life in the fellowship offered in the Gospel with His beloved Son and our amazing and full of Grace and truth savior who gave so much for our lives, to bring it back to us who had fallen into death through our sinful pasts...what an awesome and completely worthy God hallelujah indeed !

who would ever want another Lord than He. what a blessing He is in every way, so wonderful are His ways, His paths before us, the light provided ! the comfort, peace and always present Love that can be so tender and strong, So very deep and wide and long and High beyond measure He, the Lord of the entire universe actually spends His time Living in and with us even now as we put Our hearts in His hands !!!! such a good spirit

I gotta freestyle of that one..... His love is wide, wide enough to bridge the brokenness of a relationship long lost in eden btween man, and His creator.....His love is long, long enough to reach from the beginning of all things to far past eternity. His Love is High, High enough to lift the believer to the throne of Grace, the throne of perfect provision, and deep enough to reach those in the lowest places on earth, the lost and dying, those buried in the grave,

Ephesians 3 :14- 19 " For thios reason I kneel before the Father from whom His whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name, I pray that out of His glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through His spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through Faith. AND I pray that you, being rooted and established in Love, may have power together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and High and deep IS the Love of Christ, and to know this Love that surpasses Knowledge- that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God !"

Thanks Bikerchaz, I probably have a harder time sitting with the finer details of the cross. I can glory in the cross in the all encompassing sense of things and praise our God for giving us His Son, and the Lord for suffering through the same, but bring it down into the finer details of it I have a hard time with it.

I'm absolutely OPPOSED in full to anyone who thinks that Paul has even a tiny bit of authority over Jesus words. absolutely in perfect opposition. .. but any human who is OMITTING Jesus in favor of any apostles words is mistaken. the only authority, and the foundation of all Christian doctrine is found in matthew mark Luke and John. Jesus words. I was meaning a person "could" remove pauls writings and still find all he said in peter and james and john easily, actually just peter pretty much covers pauls writings really. but id never omit paul I love him and every w0rd he said is true, its just reeeellly misunderstood to think it somehow takes precedence over Jesus words, that's a huge blunder on anyones part.
It is absolutely false to say that any persons, individual in heaven and in earth that will take the authority of Christ.
Truth is absolute. Jesus says He is the Truth John 14:6, thus His words is truth and His teaching is of truth, This absolute truth is already revealed and is recorded in the scripture of truth. So, the Bible is absolutely the written or recorded truth. In that saying, anyone who wishes to oppose to the recorded truth has partial truth, and partial truth is not a truth at all. One must only confined to be taught that truth is found only in the 4 gospels. Real believer does not discount the reality of obeying Christ, following Christ or embracing Christ since we have the mind of Christ (1 Cor. 2:16).

Following Jesus every day is the goal of every believer but Jesus words were not only recorded in the 4 Gospels in the book of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. It is also recorded in the historical book of Acts, in the Epistles, and in the prophetic Book of Revelation. The records sets it true and one cannot be against the truth otherwise one is not of the truth.

Galatians 4:16 AmI therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?

Acts 9:5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
Acts 9:6 And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.
1Co 11:24 — And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat:this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
2Co 12:9 — And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Revelation 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
