Your Word for Today

“this is the Ordinance of the Law which the LORD has commanded, saying, Speak unto the Children of Israel, that they bring you a red heifer without spot, wherein is no blemish, and upon which never came yoke (Num. 19:2).

Numbers, Chapter 19 contains the Law of the Red Heifer. Some claim that this was an invention by the Priests of Israel; however, if this sacrifice had been invented by the Jews, they would have put it in the Book of Leviticus. As it is, being in Numbers, this proclaims the fact of inspiration.

The heifer symbolized Christ. It was spotless externally, and without blemish internally. It was free from any bondage whatever. It was a female, and it was red. Christ, in His Humanity, was spotless within and without; He was also as gentle as a woman; He was never in bondage to any sin; the Law had no claim upon Him as a debtor; and He robed Himself with the red earth of Manhood.

Eleazar led the heifer forth without the camp; and there was she slain. So was Christ led of the Spirit to Calvary, where He offered up Himself.

The blood of the heifer is only once mentioned in this Chapter. So Christ was once offered. It needed not that other heifers should be slain — the ashes of the first heifer sufficed, and lasted, no doubt, for many years.

Purification from the defilements unavoidable during the sojourn was effected by an application of the ashes of the burnt heifer with running water, i.e., Living Water.

Christ’s Death need not be repeated in order that forgiveness be enjoyed concerning daily sins of the celestial pilgrim. It only needs that the meaning and perfection of His Death, typified by the burnt ashes, should be effectively applied to the conscience by the Living Spirit, symbolized by the running water, and the sense of forgiveness and cleansing is then enjoyed.

There were many things which required the ashes of the red heifer, the touching of a corpse or even a bone being examples. Death is the result of sin — original sin; therefore, it defiles! The only answer for sin and death is the Crucified Christ and Faith in His Finished Work, symbolized by the ashes of the Red Heifer.”

Bread Crumbs “The Double Cure” February 17

The double cure; two items for one price. The price was God’s own dear Son. The results were freedom from the penalty of sin and a release from the crushing influence of the sin nature. Most understand the cancellation of the sin debt but few truly realize that Calvary also includes freedom from the grip of the sin nature. In fact, the total sum of all aspects of sin was defeated at Calvary. In the future even the presence of sin will be eliminated as the result of what Christ has done for us on the cross. By paying the price for my sin, the opportunity for my sin to be removed as far as the East is from the West was gained. By breaking the power of the sin nature, freedom from the influence of sin became more than just a possibility, it became a reality. Today I am free from both the penalty incurred by sin and I am free from the overwhelming strength of sin. Both are the results of what Jesus did for me on Calvary and my simple faith in Him. Learn all that Christ's death on Calvary affords to you and end your search for victory over sin from any other source outside of the cross.

Romans 6:6 - Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Philippians 1:4
Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,

Paul is reminding the Philippians that he is praying for them every time he prays. God has strategically put the Saints of God in our lives together with us that we might pray for each other continually and make requests for each other at all times based on the known needs and for the will of God to be carried out in our lives.

God plants His people, and yes, all of His people in a local assembly of believers to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth, and to be equipped for the work of the ministry (Ephesians 4:12). We are called to be planted with a group of believers to believe God for each other and the region in which we live. He strategically brings His people from every direction so that He can ASSEMBLE us together In Christ, and this means more than assembling together physically, but literally He is building (Assembling) us together In Christ. The message of the cross is the LEGAL avenue through which He is able to do all of this. Our faith in the work of Christ at Calvary is what allows Him to move us, to teach us, and to use us greatly for His glory!

Your Word for Today

“God is not a man, that He should lie; neither the son of man, that He should repent: has He said, and shall He not do it? or has He spoken, and shall He not make it good? (Num. 23:19).

This Prophecy, as given by Balaam, proclaims God, and rightly so, as the God of Blessing. In fact, for those who truly follow Him, the Scripture plainly says, “And He has blessed; and I cannot reverse it.” That’s quite a Promise!

Nothing can stop the Blessings of God for those who truly follow the Lord.

The Prophecy then said, “He has not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither has He seen perverseness in Israel.” This is a proclamation of Justification by Faith. This great foundation truth of the Gospel appears in this Prophecy. Neither iniquity in Jacob nor perverseness in Israel were visible to the Divine eye, because that eye rested on the perfections of Him in Whom Israel was chosen.

Who could lay anything to the charge of those whom God justified, i.e., declared righteous? (Rom. 8:33)

This simply says that proper Faith in Christ and what He did for us at the Cross means that God does not necessarily look at us, but rather at the One in Whom we have believed. There He sees nothing but perfection; He can, therefore, refer to all who follow Christ as being placed in the same position — perfection.

Then he said, “And the shout of a king is among them.” Of course, as the Lord referred to Israel of that time, the “King” of Whom he spoke was the One Who would be born in Bethlehem, the Lord Jesus Christ. This means that all “Blessing” and all “Justification” come solely by and through Christ, all made possible by the what He did at the Cross.”

Bread Crumbs “Surrender & Praise” February 18

Two actions that should exist in the life of every believer are the activities of surrender and praise. We must surrender to God's redemption plan. We must surrender all faith and dependence in self. There is a death to self daily that must occur. Because of our pride and self-sufficiency, surrender is a difficult thing to do. Moses symbolized both surrender as well as praise while at Rephidem in the seventeenth ...chapter of Exodus. Here he raised his hands to the Lord and as he did so, Joshua (a type of Christ) fought and won the victory in the valley below. If we will surrender all trust in self and depend exclusively in the finished work of Christ, we will find that our heavenly “Joshua” will fight for us. The fight of faith gets difficult at times and this is where the tremendous value of praise enters the picture. You cannot praise the Lord and doubt Him at the same time. Praise is an expression of faith in God's ability to bring you through. Praise can push back powers of darkness and regenerate hope in the heart of the believer. So lift up your hands, give praise to God, and surrender your battles unto the Lord.

Exodus 17:11 - And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Philippians 1:5
For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;

This verse of scripture is of course tied to the previous two verses which here reveals that he is first of all giving thanks for their FELLOWSHIP IN THE GOSPEL from the first day and praying their FELLOWSHIP IN THE GOSPEL will remain until this day. The focus is the gospel, or the focus is not a God focus. God’s Word declares that where there is no vision, which refers to prophetic revelation of God’s Redemptive plan, the people will perish (Proverbs 29:18).

The only biblical fellowship which the Children of God can have is that which is IN THE FAITH of the Lord Jesus Christ. Not just the faith that saved us initially, but that same faith in the cross of Jesus Christ that holds us together today and allows our love to abound (2 Corinthians 5:14, Philippians 1:9). Our fellowship is in the blood of Jesus or it is not biblical (1 Corinthians 10:16), and again I say, not just because we are saved, but if we walk together TODAY with our faith in the cross of Christ alone. The fellowship has to be in the Gospel then God is going to make His presence known as He is carrying out His will in and through us!

Your Word for Today

“and the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a Book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under Heaven. And Moses built an Altar, and called the name of it Jehovah-Nissi (Ex. 17:14-15).

It is remarkable that the first mention of the Bible should be in connection with the hostility of the natural man (Amalek) to the spiritual man (Israel). War has ever since accompanied the Book. In fact, no Book (the Bible) has been so hated and so loved.

Paul told Timothy: “War a good warfare” (I Tim. 1:18). He also said, “The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds” (II Cor. 10:4).

Moses building the “Altar” tells us the manner in which victory is won. It is always through the Sacrifice of Christ and our Faith in that Finished Work. In fact, Paul told us exactly how this warfare is engaged, and how it is won. We speak of the never-ceasing war against the flesh.

He said, “But God forbid that I should glory, save in the Cross of the our Lord Jesus Christ, by Whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world” (Gal. 6:14).

The “Cross” was the occasion for the victory which Moses saw, even as it regarded the entirety of Israel; the Cross is the scene of our victory. There is no other manner of victory, simply because no other manner is needed.”

As saints of God our goal must be Christlikeness, and our mission must be to preach the ONE TRUE GOSPEL to every creature! If we forget our goal then our mission will be empty, and if we pursue our goal then the mission will come, because there is no way to truly pursue Christ without it producing a desire to proclaim and explain who he is and what he’s done! I don’t want to talk about Jesus without being like Jesus....#charactermatters

Bread Crumbs “True Spiritual Prosperity” February 19

True spiritual prosperity begins with the truth and assurance that one’s sins are forgiven and forgotten! There is absolutely nothing more prosperous to the human soul than the knowledge that one's sins have been “taken away.” To know that all past mendacities, miscues, and mistakes have been forever silenced by the blood of Christ, brings a calm assurance to the heart. It is unlike anything in life that a human being can experience. The load and burden of guilt brought on by sin is completely removed and God’s comfort and grace is applied. God's grace not only works in the sense of forgiveness, but as well, works towards the transformation of the believer into the image of Christ. As the individual is conformed to the image of Christ, a sense of peace and well-being becomes a constant. In this state the believer is easily led by the Holy Spirit into actions and activities that are pleasing to God. These changes produce multiple blessings from the Lord and positively affects every area of the believers’ life. This true spiritual prosperity begins when an individual recognizes their sinful condition and turns in faith to Christ. In Him, we can be both forgiven and transformed. Isn't it about time you began to prosper?

Romans 4:7-8 - Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. (8) Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

Without the message of the cross in our pulpits we will continue to live as though we are victims instead of good soldiers!

Without the message of the cross in our pulpits the preachers will continue to be in control instead of the Holy Spirit!

We have now been in a new and powerful reformation for 23 years, and my prayer is that God’s people would begin to hear and to see Him once again!

The Miracle of God’s Word

Philippians 1:6
Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

If the Child of God maintains their faith in that which allowed God to begin the good work in them until the day of Jesus Christ, He will surely continue that good work. It is a work in which only He can perform, and all His works are according to our faith in His approved work for us at the cross. This is the process of “By grace through faith.” There is no other process for God to be pleased and to perform His good work in and through our lives.

The work of Jesus Christ is the only work which God has approved and finished. The works we walk in today (Ephesians 2:10) are simply the work that was manifest as finished in Christ on the cross. We live by His faith (Galatians 2:20), so that we can taste of His death by His grace (Hebrews 2:9). It all belongs to Jesus and only through our hearts believing in His work at the cross will we find our faithful Lord working in our lives conforming us into His very image!

Your Word for Today

“and Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spy secretly, saying, Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went, and came into an harlot’s house, named Rahab, and lodged there (Josh. 2:1).

Rahab would seem to be an unlikely prospect for Salvation, but yet the greatest prospect of all, because Salvation is not gauged upon what a person has been, but the faith they now evidence. Rahab was a debauched member of a doomed race. Yet Grace saved her.

She based her plea for Salvation upon the fact that she was justly ordained by God to destruction. Many people refuse to claim Salvation because of the belief that, if they are ordained to be saved, they will be saved, and, if ordained to be lost, they will be lost. However, all sinners are justly ordained to be lost (Rom. 5:12); therefore, all sinners may be saved.

Rahab prefaced her plea for Salvation by declaring that she knew all were doomed to destruction, and, because of this Divine Judgment, she asked for a true token that would assure her of her safety in the Day of Wrath that was coming. She was immediately provided with a way of Salvation. It was very simple way. She had but to bind some scarlet thread in a window. A child could do that.

This means that Salvation from the Wrath to come is equally simple. Trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ and in His Precious Blood secures eternal Salvation.

Rahab lost not a moment in making her calling and election sure. She bound the scarlet thread in the window. Directly she did so, she was saved — that is, she was in safety and assured of safety. Prior to binding the scarlet line in the window, she was ordained to destruction. But from the moment she trusted that “true token,” she was ordained to Salvation.”

Bread Crumbs “Live the Gospel” February 20

It is the responsibility of every Christian to share their faith with others. The best way to set the foundation for sharing the gospel is living the gospel. This means that as Christians, our daily lives are paving the way and creating the opportunity for us to share the power and peace of life in Christ. Our lives should preach holiness without exhibiting self-righteousness. Our lives should preach faithfulness, without displaying an attitude that says, “I am better than you.” Our lives should promote kindness, when at the same time we are promoting the truth. We do not express true love towards a brother who is in error or an unbeliever who is separated from God by failing to tell them the truth. We must not hesitate to share how God truly feels about their incorrect action or lost condition. That is not kindness. That is not gentleness. That is just plain old cowardice. However, we must be both bold and sensitive, “salting our speech with grace” and being led by the Spirit as to what to say. We are to be instant in season and out of season, always ready to declare our faith daily. Someone needs to both hear and see the truths of Christ crucified from you today!

Colossians 4:5 - Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Philippians 1:7
Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.

Paul cannot stop referring to the gospel of Jesus Christ, as it is the churches only hope today of returning to, and walking with our Lord. We desperately need to know that if our faith is not in the cross for ALL Grace today, then it cannot be in the Word of God. The Word of God is the Word of the cross of Jesus Christ. Paul constantly has a heart full of love for those he has ministered this glorious gospel to, and reminds them that they are all partakers of “his grace”, this grace that God gives at the preaching of the gospel given to him by Jesus Christ.

Even in Paul’s bonds he is thinking of those who are walking in this Life changing faith with him, and also in his defense and confirmation of the gospel. When the gospel is not the focus, we have stopped contending for this great faith, and God’s Word says that we are to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have learned or they will slip away (Hebrews 2:1). When the focus moves away from the cross of Christ, iniquity begins to abound while love grows cold (Matthew 24:12). When the focus remains to be the cross of Christ, love abounds while iniquity cannot (Philippians 1:9).

Your Word for Today

“behold, when we come into the land, you shall bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which you did let us down by: and you shall bring your father, and your mother, and your brethren, and all your father’s household, home unto you (Josh. 2:18).

Rahab’s Salvation was not necessarily based upon something she trusted within herself, but rather on outward evidence, that is, the scarlet line. In it was perfection because it symbolized the Shed Blood of Christ; in herself, imperfection. Looking upon that “true token” and believing the testimony respecting it, she was assured of deliverance in the Day of Doom that was coming.

Thus, the outward token gave an inward peace.

The Believer in Jesus enjoys a similar peace. The preciousness of Christ’s Blood and the testimony of the Holy Scriptures concerning it are the outward tokens which bring assurance of Salvation to the heart that trusts Christ.

It was vain for Rahab to seek for Salvation upon the basis of personal worthiness; for she was vile indeed. She was a harlot. It is equally vain for the most moral, whoever that might be, to claim Salvation presently; for all have sinned, none are righteous, and all are under sentence of death (Rom. 5:12).

A Faith that is born of God always evidences itself by seeking the Salvation of others. Rahab pleads for her father, her mother, her brothers, her sisters, and all belonging to them; and they were all saved.

The moral effect of this Divine Faith evidenced in Rahab, who previously had been a harlot, now proclaims her joining the People of God, marrying one of its Princes, and her name shines in the genealogy of Jesus Christ (Mat. 1:5). Thus, we see what the Gospel of Jesus Christ can do in the heart and life of one, anyone, even one such as Rahab.”

Bread Crumbs “Overcoming Anger” February 21

Anger is a devastating enemy and it strikes when we least expect it. It will often result in embarrassment, as it always seems to surface at exactly the most inopportune moment. Most anger is the result of self being offended. Something did not go our way! Someone did not do what I wanted! Somehow life just didn't happen the way I thought it should. I am not a “happy camper.” So feeling the frustration of an unwanted circumstance, I allow myself to take it out on others. I express my displeasure in an ungodly way and with an ungodly attitude. Anger damages and even destroys relationships. While there is such a thing as a righteous indignation, most anger stems from a perceived personal insult. Beware! Satan can place thoughts in our minds about others that is totally inaccurate. Undue anger can cause us to hurt the very ones we love the most and can damage our testimony as a Christian. A temper out of control is just as evil and wicked as adultery, as drunkenness, as false doctrine, or hypocrisy. Deliverance is sorely needed. Take that anger problem to the Lord. Admit you are the one in the wrong and call on God for mercy and grace to help in your time of need!

Proverbs 16:32 - He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Philippians 1:8
For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.

The Love of God has been shed abroad in the Apostle Paul’s heart (Romans 5:5) as it has in the hearts of all God’s people, and this love causes us to desire to be in fellowship with, and to be compassionate toward all of the household of faith as well as all people. We should be closely knit together in love with the people of God who are striving together with us for the faith of the gospel (Philippians 1:27).

The Church is here on the earth to reflect the glory of Christ which we have received in these earthen vessels (2 Corinthians 4:7), and will soon be revealed (Romans 8:18) in us when He comes for us! The world only recognizes that we are the disciples of Christ when they see us showing love one to another (John 10:35). Without this love in our hearts functioning the only way it can, which is through faith in the cross, no one will recognize Him at all through us. Look to the cross today and allow His love to abound in your hearts!
