This fits with your idea of Cain only caring about his physical life. So you are right in that it doesn't make any sense for GOD to have given him the Seal of GOD.

i still think Cain leaving the Presence of the LORD is the key to why it is in the Bible. Cain became spiritually blind ..like most people today.
