Jezebel Queen of False Prophets and the Jezebel Spirit

Instead of shifting blame to some "spirit" or "spiritual dynamic," why don't we call sin what scripture calls it:

"But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death." James 1:14-15

"But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells;" Romans 7:17-18

Let's quit looking for "the devil made me do it excuses" and pray the Lord will help us overcome the flesh by His Spirit.

Just as we are not endorsing any particular evangelical position that asserts the Jezebel Spirit, neither are we endorsing the counter-claim and critical denominations that regard that there may in fact be no Jezebel Spirit and that perhaps the use of the topic in Protestant denominations in modern America's evangelical movement are kind of like charlatans using the topic of Jezebel Spirit for like a pageantry. In a sort of ironic fashion though to their chagrin their argument is somewhat self-defeating because in a sense that they do rightly point out, a lot of the groups both for and against Jezebel Spirit do have like these strong female leaders and this permissive attitude towards committing the worst of the sexual sins, sins the Bible objectively regards as worthy of death for at least the emphasis of their severity if you consider this in a more spiritual light, and of course alot of these groups and Christian preachers and mini-celebrities are well known for being littered with famous modern false prophets, which nevermind their scam, this is itself eerily reminiscent of historical/biblical Jezebel the Queen of False Prophets! Thus deepens then the B plotline of the mystery of the Jezebel Spirit spoken of so much in modern Christianity and even beyond it into the wider secular pop culture. So it is both sides might have some good points of view while at the same time having a sort of poetic chagrin as well.

Again just going to state the disclaimer that this is not an endorsement of any particular denomination or sect we examine nor any of that as I delve a little deeper into the possibilities of the Jezebel Spirit. It's just merely since it is something of a very popular topic in modern times across many different denominations and points of view in Christianity as well as has some connection to the Bible we logically now look at their points of view that range from some differing points of view you all have even expressed so far. We'll wade into now a point of view that does regard there being a Jezebel Spirit but it is not the more extreme view, which we will cover, but portrays the Jezebel Spirit as a real spirit but maybe not as an outright singular entity, but rather as something of a spiritual dynamic based on sins and behaviors associated to the historical Jezebel of the Bible's story as well as Jezebel of Revelation. This video will list out several evil behavioral disorder traits and sins that we see linked and connected to Jezebel like as some have mentioned before; Jezebel manipulation, persecution of the church, association with idolatry and sexual sins, and so forth.

Well again going to preface like the opening example videos of the other overarching points of view on the Jezebel Spirit that this not an endorsement of them or their sects, consider this merely to try to get the basic pieces on the table in order to see what we got here. While there is a range and nuances internally in the various Protestant denominations regarding Jezebel Spirit we'll break it into three broad camps; First is what we'll call the Non-existence/Skeptical viewpoint whether they outright are hostile to the idea of it as a scam or for just practical reasons of there is not Jezebel Spirit in the Bible indeed, though there is an acknowledged here value in knowing the scriptures and examining society and and the Bible in even a secular rather than spiritual way. The second camp is a sort of what we'll call the Midlleground camp with the idea that there is a valid sorta of spiritual context but not an outright demon, that is to say there's a Jezebel Spirit of sorts in a metaphorical sense or a pattern of behaviors that though not directly a spirit are closely tied to hard canon Jezebel of the Bible. Finally, yes, it is controversial, again not an endorsement by me, but we cannot neglect to put it forth at least for the sake of getting a view of the subject that now must look at the final main camp, the camp that does indeed believe that there is a personalized Spiritual Entity, specifically that of a demon.

Well I think after a brief pause in the Bible study part of the topic to touch on the pop topic of Jezebel Spirit and getting a grasp for the three major camps of it that we will return to the Bible. We will now examine in shortness the possibility of Jezebel Spirit inhabitting someone different or depending on your viewpoint that is to say a character we've already touched on who is both physically related to Jezebel as well as spiritually holds some qualities and sins similar to her. We will now resume the narrative right where we left off with Jehu smiting Joram and Jezebel of the northern kingdom of Israel and king Ahaziah of Judah and thus bringing the prophecy to destroy the dynasty of Ahab nearly to a close and historical Jezebel's personal story definitively to a close. Yet in Judah remains one last powerful member of the Omride dynasty, Athaliah daughter of Jezebel and the only woman in the entire history of Israel to ever outright rule their land.

Here's an interesting subplot to keep in mind after looking at the Jezebel Spirit side of the topic too from the videos for the camp that believes there is a Jezebel Spirit the Entity camp as we're terming it that there's this interesting idea and a strong central to many evangelical and pentecostal type denominations of protestantism, especially ones dealing with deliverance minsitry or exorcism as it is known. This is an idea, and I am not endorsing ait at all, but personally actually oppose it, but nevertheless for the sake of the discussion and plot I want to call attention to this idea of "generational curses" thus in their camp's view they think they inherit evil spiritual entities. The Middleground might be of mind to point out that sin is not inherited, but to spare us devolving into that milk topic stake out a position that Athaliah does not have a demon but has a Jezebel Spirit in a sense because she commits sins like and is related to Jezebel, that she is basically a continuation of Jezebel's overall culture and influence into the southern kingdom of Judah now this time. Finally the Skeptical camp could easily maintain that there is no Jezebel Spirit and any likeness to Jezebel can be explained by the fact that Athaliah is very likely her very own daughter and her reasons are not really spiritual but are very secular in manner and her conenction to Jezebel is secular in manner and of course her impending death will herald a definitive end to Jezebel and any spiritual qualities surrounding her or her house or her culture in Israel and Judah.

Whatever camp you may be, feel free to drop your two cents, and even any nuances you think. I will now progressively finish off Athaliah's story in parts, but she will not be so long to rule as a wicked queen as her mother Jezebel did reign. For the positive aspect too, take note of the, in my opinion, most underrated good biblical female protagonists as well in the person of Jehosheba. Besides just to bring value to remembering God and the good guys side in it is all Jehosheba becomes interesting in her own right to the topic of the Jezebel Spirit as it is is she may herself be related to Athaliah and may be her own daughter and consequently the granddaughter of Jezebel thus providing an interesting foil to the 3 camps views of the Jezebel Spirit and the idea of generational curses, learning the way or turning forom the sins of one's parents, and skepticism of the spiritual qualities to it all when they're very present to be studied but perhaps just misunderstood.

2 Kings 11:1-3


1 And when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal.

2 But Jehosheba, the daughter of king Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king's sons which were slain; and they hid him, even him and his nurse, in the bedchamber from Athaliah, so that he was not slain.

3 And he was with her hid in the house of the Lord six years. And Athaliah did reign over the land.

2 Chronicles 22:1-12

1 And the inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah his youngest son king in his stead: for the band of men that came with the Arabians to the camp had slain all the eldest. So Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah reigned.

2 Forty and two years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Athaliah the daughter of Omri.

3 He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab: for his mother was his counsellor to do wickedly.

4 Wherefore he did evil in the sight of the Lord like the house of Ahab: for they were his counsellors after the death of his father to his destruction.

5 He walked also after their counsel, and went with Jehoram the son of Ahab king of Israel to war against Hazael king of Syria at Ramothgilead: and the Syrians smote Joram.

6 And he returned to be healed in Jezreel because of the wounds which were given him at Ramah, when he fought with Hazael king of Syria. And Azariah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Jehoram the son of Ahab at Jezreel, because he was sick.

7 And the destruction of Ahaziah was of God by coming to Joram: for when he was come, he went out with Jehoram against Jehu the son of Nimshi, whom the Lord had anointed to cut off the house of Ahab.

8 And it came to pass, that, when Jehu was executing judgment upon the house of Ahab, and found the princes of Judah, and the sons of the brethren of Ahaziah, that ministered to Ahaziah, he slew them.

9 And he sought Ahaziah: and they caught him, (for he was hid in Samaria,) and brought him to Jehu: and when they had slain him, they buried him: Because, said they, he is the son of Jehoshaphat, who sought the Lord with all his heart. So the house of Ahaziah had no power to keep still the kingdom.

There is variety of opinions on jezable Spirit. From lust to false doctrine. In 1 kings chapter 16.

Jezable brought baal priests to Israel She was heathen. Satan heads baal worship. She forced people to worship baal.
Now a characterize of her, may define what is meant by jezebel Spirit. Domineering and control of others. Especially in the spiritual realm. She ordered the murder of prophets.

Second example. She had righteous Naboth killed for his vine yard.
Jezebel was actually power behind the throne. Ahab was wicked man, and Weak. He went along with the wicked.

Revelation chapter 2
Church of Thratira could be said to be acting in the Spirit of jezebel. Priests don't teach repentance, and promote false teachings.

1 Timothy chapter 4
Now the Spirit speaks expressly that in the latter times some shall depart from the Faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrine of devils.

Some false shepherd's teach tradition of men and false doctrine. We must practice spiritual discernment.

There are some good churches left. But there's also dead churches.

Beware of false brethren/shepherds.

We last left off in our kicker study of Athaliah with her exterminating almost the entire dynasty of David and seizing power for her own. We take note of Athaliah's connection to Jezebel as likely being her daughter directly, or at the least of it being influenced by being a member of Jezebel's family and court and thus being a candidate for having the Jezebel Spirit by a variety of possibilities (generational curse, learned beahvior, etc.) We also take notice of Jehosheba whom also might be related to Athaliah and Jezebel, but unlike them Jehosheba is totally the opposite from them both behaviorally and spiritually. This leads us to conclude there are not really generational curses or inheritted sins, that just because ones parents are evil doesn't mean they have to follow their ways too. We see that Jehosheba believes in God, we see Jehosheba gets married to the priest Jehoiada, which as Jehoiada is considered a good priest we can assume that their marriage is godly meaning that they are strictly monogamists, they were both virgins before they got married and that they will stay together for life as per the code of conduct outlined for the priests and their wife in both the OT and NT. This is significant then since both historical Jezebel as well as Jezebel of Revelation's two primary identifying sins are idolatry and sexual sins and we see Jehosheba by her conduct clearly cannot have the Jezebel Spirit or behavioral patterns since she is the opposite of these two identifiers despite being a member of the evil family. Jehoiada is also pretty interesting as we have seen a variety of people oppose Jezebel being mostly from the offices of the prophets (like Elijah), the governments (like Obadiah), and military and kings class (like Jehu), but Jehoiada is of the office of the priests or the clergy. After Jehosheba and Jehoiada come together to save Joash, the last remaining descendant of David, they hide him in the first temple which goes by neglected under Athaliah's reign until the day comes that the time is right to reveal him.

1 Kings 11:4-13

4 And the seventh year Jehoiada sent and fetched the rulers over hundreds, with the captains and the guard, and brought them to him into the house of the Lord, and made a covenant with them, and took an oath of them in the house of the Lord, and shewed them the king's son.

5 And he commanded them, saying, This is the thing that ye shall do; A third part of you that enter in on the sabbath shall even be keepers of the watch of the king's house;

6 And a third part shall be at the gate of Sur; and a third part at the gate behind the guard: so shall ye keep the watch of the house, that it be not broken down.

7 And two parts of all you that go forth on the sabbath, even they shall keep the watch of the house of the Lord about the king.

8 And ye shall compass the king round about, every man with his weapons in his hand: and he that cometh within the ranges, let him be slain: and be ye with the king as he goeth out and as he cometh in.

9 And the captains over the hundreds did according to all things that Jehoiada the priest commanded: and they took every man his men that were to come in on the sabbath, with them that should go out on the sabbath, and came to Jehoiada the priest.

10 And to the captains over hundreds did the priest give king David's spears and shields, that were in the temple of the Lord.

11 And the guard stood, every man with his weapons in his hand, round about the king, from the right corner of the temple to the left corner of the temple, along by the altar and the temple.

12 And he brought forth the king's son, and put the crown upon him, and gave him the testimony; and they made him king, and anointed him; and they clapped their hands, and said, God save the king.

13 And when Athaliah heard the noise of the guard and of the people, she came to the people into the temple of the Lord.

How is it you don't think demons tempt/manipulate/influence people to sin? Once they tempt & influence, they will infiltrate & possess.
Satan steals, kills, & destroys.
Flesh is cursed to sin, sure. But don't think for a moment we sin all by ourselves without some devil's help.

Tried something after I wrote it all out.. The term “Jezebel spirit” isn’t explicitly mentioned in the Bible. Jezebel herself was a historical figure, a queen mentioned in 1 and 2 Kings, known for her idolatry and opposition to the prophets of God. In Revelation, a woman named Jezebel is mentioned, symbolizing false prophecy and leading believers astray. The idea of a “Jezebel spirit” has been used in some Christian circles to describe a demonic influence characterized by control, manipulation, and seduction. This interpretation is more metaphorical, drawing from Jezebel’s actions and traits in the Bible. There is no spirit, fallen angel, or even God can control a person without their consent. This aligns with the belief in free will, where individuals are responsible for their actions and can seek repentance and deliverance through faith in Jesus Christ.

Well that was different.. anyway many years ago I started reading, hearing about this Jezebel spirit but it was how it was being used. It was used to control women. I then over time saw it move move to men then to the Church then to a city and yeah it made it all the way to the white house yet they had other spirits with Jezebel. To make it simple been apart of this world all my life so not saying there is not one but its how it was used and then the classic "what Jesus was saying in Rev He was really talking about the SPIRIT Jezebel". I know a sinner can have a demon and we can have one .. hmm attached to us yet that only happens when we play with sin. Its where you become what that spirit is. But our GOD is so big so great so awesome.. (Father you know I would love to go on forever describing how wonderful you are) where anyone can just call on His name and they will be delivered/saved. Yeah its that easy to be set free!

I've seen people do this with falling under the power? Oh some Christians go silly over this yet this I can find where as soon as He said I am He they fell backwards to the ground. There were about 12 young teenagers all praying and the leader when they were all praying just happen to open his eyes saw this young girl look to her left then fell backwards. He goes over to make sure shes ok and she said and I quote "I looked at the door way and saw Jesus walk in". It is written where two or three are gathered in my name I am there. NOT here to talk about that. The point was... this can be found.. yeah as if when HE shows up were just going to stand there or.. nope you only fall one way forward haha sure why not run with that. What I like here is the OP said there is a spirit or might not be.

Well we will now conclude the kicker study of Athaliah as she hears the commotion of the righteous priest Jehoiada enacting his plan to suddenly reveal the life of the king and officially coronate the true king Joash whom had been saved from her attempted mass regicide of all the males of the house of David. Athaliah has been thwarted by God but also by an interesting example of a woman that may be related to Athaliah also herself as either daughter or sister in Jehosheba. Jehosheba has made a small but significant choice implied in the little text about her rather than to go down the path of Jezebel and Baal worship and whoredoms like Athaliah has chosen. Jehosheba's choice to rather than follow the wicked women of her family but rather to turn to the true God, but also live as the wife to the priest Jehoiada proves itself a miracle as together they have not only saved the true king of Judah, but also successffully restored him to the throne and defeat Athaliah the last remaining elite of the house of Ahab and Jezebel most physically but also of course debatebly the Jezebel Spirit.

2 Chronicles 23:11-21

11 Then they brought out the king's son, and put upon him the crown, and gave him the testimony, and made him king. And Jehoiada and his sons anointed him, and said, God save the king.

12 Now when Athaliah heard the noise of the people running and praising the king, she came to the people into the house of the Lord:

13 And she looked, and, behold, the king stood at his pillar at the entering in, and the princes and the trumpets by the king: and all the people of the land rejoiced, and sounded with trumpets, also the singers with instruments of musick, and such as taught to sing praise. Then Athaliah rent her clothes, and said, Treason, Treason.

14 Then Jehoiada the priest brought out the captains of hundreds that were set over the host, and said unto them, Have her forth of the ranges: and whoso followeth her, let him be slain with the sword. For the priest said, Slay her not in the house of the Lord.

15 So they laid hands on her; and when she was come to the entering of the horse gate by the king's house, they slew her there.

16 And Jehoiada made a covenant between him, and between all the people, and between the king, that they should be the Lord's people.

17 Then all the people went to the house of Baal, and brake it down, and brake his altars and his images in pieces, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars.

18 Also Jehoiada appointed the offices of the house of the Lord by the hand of the priests the Levites, whom David had distributed in the house of the Lord, to offer the burnt offerings of the Lord, as it is written in the law of Moses, with rejoicing and with singing, as it was ordained by David.

19 And he set the porters at the gates of the house of the Lord, that none which was unclean in any thing should enter in.

20 And he took the captains of hundreds, and the nobles, and the governors of the people, and all the people of the land, and brought down the king from the house of the Lord: and they came through the high gate into the king's house, and set the king upon the throne of the kingdom.

21 And all the people of the land rejoiced: and the city was quiet, after that they had slain Athaliah with the sword.
