Whenever any of us sins, it is because we are making it about ourselves. And any and every time we do sin, .. it is personal. On that note, one can only conclude that all of us must have this jezebel spirit in us from time to time.
Yea the bible calls it the flesh :(

Another trait associated with this spirit is its habit of projecting..... accusing others of doing what they are actually doing themselves, ....
If you don't want to call it the 'Jezebel spirit', fine..... but it's still a demonic spirit, no matter what you call it.
And because we believe this doctrine you've been doing whaaaaaat? You've been doing this in the entire thread, so what DOES that make you?
I bet you believe just mostly going to church & nothing else don't you?

Not sure what the problem is. The invention of the 'Jezebel spirit' and others like it are the best thing to happen to Christians in a long time. Sin? No, that wasn't me, blame it on the Jezebel spirit that made me do it.
See, perfect, this way you never have to take responsibility for your actions because everything is a spirits fault, not yours. This is awesome =D

Check the fruit, test every spirit. True spiritual gifts attract people to Messiah, not to themselves. Counterfeit gifts emphasize personality, promote self, seeking a following.
John 16:13-14 says the one who speaks from him/herself seeks their own glory or worship. Jezebels claim discernment, but is it really? False discernment is based on mistrust, fear, suspicion, fault finding, hidden agenda, coldness, no love, criticism, judgment, anger, ambition, bitterness, and stirring up strife. Above all, everything is personal with a Jezebel spirit, making everything about themselves.

The Jezebel spirit wants to direct us away from our Maker, and uses many devises to do so. There are levels of wickedness as scripture says, "Matthew 12:
[SUP]43 [/SUP]“When an unclean spirit comes out of a person, it travels through dry country seeking rest and does not find it. [SUP]44 [/SUP]Then it says to itself, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house standing empty, swept clean and put in order. [SUP]45 [/SUP]Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they come and live there — so that in the end, the person is worse off than he was before. This is how it will be for this wicked generation.”

While ultimately we must take responsibility for our words and deeds, we do ourselves a disservice not knowing scripture. Scripture tells us we are in a battle for our very souls, and gives us knowledge and wisdom, discernment and gifts. Why sayeth scripture "resist the devil and he will flee from you" were it not possible for him to control us?

I guess many of us heard this saying when we were kids "the devil's biggest lie is that he don't exist", maybe there's a version saying "or that he isn't so evil as he is". All these denials of biblical portrays of spiritual realities knowingly or unknowingly, in effect, serves an agenda of actually fostering what it tries to water down.
Bingo!....

A Jezebel spirit can destroy the stmosphere of worship, fellowshiping, praising and prayer among believers. Jezebel spirit full of jealousy, envy, strife, division, self center, controlling, manipulative, domineering, and malice. A Jezebel spirit will respresent oneself very sweet, innocent, meekness, kind, caring, submissive, but that is a deception.

How to tell a Jezebel Spirit:

They gain power by diminishing others. It is causes them a rush “win” over someone. They manage to get in positions of authority, and are difficult to displace, once there.
They are controlling, manipulative, bossy.
They can either be war-like in their personalities, so that they are intimidating, or so sweet, timid, charming and charismatic, they are able to fool and recruit others to join them.
The spirit is critical of others, vicious to the point of blood thirsty as to reveal weaknesses.
They are never wrong in their own eyes; they are unable to apologize.
They recruit others to rally behind their charges against their victims. They act to persuade recruits, and do not give up this activity until the recruits are won over. If the potential recruits do not cooperate and accept their position they will grow angry.
They are by nature narcissistic. While they tend to be oversensitive, they have no concern for the feelings of others. They are not sympathetic about their victims, and tend to play the role of victim themselves, in order to gain sympathy. This way the real victim is left stranded, and opposed by others if they ask for help. Being the center of attention really pleases them.
They lie, and they believe their own lie. Avoiding the truth, or intentionally acting to withhold truth is part of a false picture presented to others.
Impulsive, disorganized, failure to plan ahead. Life is often chaotic and family in their care is in disarray.
The have a lack of remorse after hurting someone. They can justify the harm and remain smug about their victory.

They prove to be consistent irresponsibility, unpunctual, undependable. Will make rash promises, but cannot be trusted to fulfill.
They often express irritability, aggressiveness (open or subtle), and can be quick tempered.
This person is an “outlier” or non-conformist, they have their own ways.
Psychological counseling will not help, since they deny their condition.
They may claim religious sentiments, but are found very superficial in spiritual disciplines. Places emphasis on emotions over depth of condition.

Revelation 2:20 - Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.

2 Kings 9:22 - And it came to pass, when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, [Is it] peace, Jehu? And he answered, What peace, so long as the whoredoms of thy mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts [are so] many?

1 Kings 21:25 - But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.

1 Kings 16:31 - And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him.

2 Kings 9:30-37 - And when Jehu was come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard [of it]; and she painted her face, and tired her head, and looked out at a window. (Read More...)
Just what is a "Jezebel spirit"? Does one get possessed by the "spirit of Jezebel"? Jezebel was into idolatry and she led others into idolatry . . . so if her spirit was to "possess" one - then the characteristics of the person "possessed" would be akin to idolatry. I can't find any scripture concerning being "possessed by the spirit of Jezebel" nor even concerning a "Jezebel spirit". If it is just a name given to people into idolatry . . . we could use any of the "Kings" names that "did evil in the sight of the Lord" by worshipping other gods - the "spirit of Jeroboam" - set up two golden calves - Here are your gods Israel [1 Kings 12:28]; the "spirit of Rehoboam" King of Judah . . . Judah did evil in the eyes of the Lord. . . they stirred up his jealous anger more than those who were before them had done [1 Kings 14:21,22]; the "spirit of Nadab" king of Israel . . . He did evil in the eyes of the LORD, following the ways of his father and committing the same sin his father [Jeroboam] had caused Israel to commit [1 Kings 15:25,26] and on and on it goes . . .

My previous partial quote omission had no bearing whatsoever on the point being made by me (in blue). Your comment above (in bold black) could be viewed by even the mildest of discerning readers as an attempt by you to mislead or misdirect ...i.e... "by isolating a single sentence from a quote as you have done" .... perhaps implying that I was trying to be sneaky ... maybe even jezebel like. Would you disagree with my first reply to you (in blue) ?

We are not at war with each other, and this is what is so important to understand, our war is not with flesh, it is with the spirit realm.
My intent was to point out that targeted one sentence (..everything being personal) does not correctly convey the Jezebel spirit, because all spirits are not Jezebel. I accuse you of nothing other than misunderstanding my post, as your answer demonstrates.

Again, see how many posts here are personal? this thread, t's not about you or me, rather these spiritual demons that can influence people, and ignorance of tactical warefare is found in scripture..for instance,
Proverbs 4:
[SUP]7 [/SUP]Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.
[SUP]9 [/SUP]She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.
further on..
Proverbs 5:

[SUP]3 [/SUP]For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:
[SUP]4 [/SUP]But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.

He did evil in the eyes of the LORD, following the ways of his father and committing the same sin his father [Jeroboam] had caused Israel to commit [1 Kings 15:25,26] and on and on it goes . . .
Notice carefully:

Revelation 2:18-23 (KJV) [SUP]18 [/SUP]And unto the angel (pastor, preaching elder) of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass; [SUP]19 [/SUP]I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first. [SUP]20 [/SUP]Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest (permits) that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. [SUP]21 [/SUP]And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. [SUP]22 [/SUP]Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. [SUP]23 [/SUP]And I will kill her children(those won over) with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

This was written to the head elder (Pastor) of the church. What was happening? The pastor was allowing someone in his church (whether by permission or silent consent) to inspire the members to commit fornication (both spiritual & physical).

Here's what we have: 1) a woman possessed with an evil spirit, and, 2) this evil spirit seducing the members to sin through her. Both internal & external spiritual influence is involved. But..... only sinners can be possessed. The true church can only be externally persuaded.(inspired, tempted)

Therefore, we can conclude that evil, demonic spirits can both use people both inwardly (possession) and outwardly (listening to false inspiration, teaching, preaching, etc.). Remember, the evil spirit does not need a person to perform this.

If the Devil would dare tempt Jesus all by himself, not possessing another, can we not assume he will do it to Christ's church? Which of us lives in such an impregnable fortress of a temple that an evil spirit can't tempt us to sin? The best temptation is the kind that succeeds without us even realizing it. This is what's happening in the great falling away..... by the millions.

We can also conclude that if the church is charged as guilty of permitting such a thing that said church is responsible to expose & rid itself of such evil.

Ephesians 5:6-14 (NASB95) [SUP]6 [/SUP]Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. [SUP]7 [/SUP]Therefore do not be partakers with them; [SUP]8 [/SUP]for you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light [SUP]9 [/SUP](for the fruit of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth), [SUP]10 [/SUP]trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. [SUP]11 [/SUP]Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them; [SUP]12 [/SUP]for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret. [SUP]13 [/SUP]But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light. [SUP]14 [/SUP]For this reason it says, "Awake, sleeper, And arise from the dead, And Christ will shine on you."

Hi Stephen:

First off I will say that I do believe in demons influencing people but to call a specific spirit as "Jezebel's spirit", i.e. the spirit of Jezebel is to imply that people are possessed by other people, i.e. dead people. Are dead people's spirits demons or are demons fallen angels that fell when Satan puffed himself up to usurp God?

Rev. 2:20 does refer to Jezebel. But it couldn't mean the real Jezebel, that would mean that the dead can come back to earth and inhabit people. I believe that people in the Church in Thyatira were being deceived by someone, who LIKE Jezebel, were leading people into idolatry [which is metaphorically speaking of fornication and adultery]. Jezebel lead Ahab son of Omri, king of Israel, to serve Baal and worship him, i.e. idolatry [1 Kings 16:31]; Jezebel was killing off the LORD's prophets [1 Kings 18:4, 13]; the prophets of Baal [false god] and the prophets of Asherah [false god] ate at her table [1 Kings 18:19]; she plotted and had Naboth stoned to death so her husband could take possession of his vineyard [1 Kings 21:1,15]. BTW, Ahab humbled himself before God and repented [1 Kings 21:27] It was prophesied that she would die, and not be buried but be devoured by dogs - "take care of that cursed woman, he said, and bury her, for she was a king's daughter." But when they went out to bury her, they found nothing except her skull, her feet and her hands. [2 Kings 9:34-36] When reading about Jezebel, I read plenty of idolatry but nothing of a sexual nature. Albeit some of the pagan gods were worshipped for this intention. Wouldn't implying or calling a spirit by a person's name imply that one is possessed by a dead person? Wouldn't that fall under the realm of witchcraft, or necromancer?
We can also conclude that if the church is charged as guilty of permitting such a thing that said church is responsible to expose & rid itself of such evil.

Ephesians 5:6-14 (NASB95) [SUP]6 [/SUP]Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. I agree that the leadership of a church should take notice of anyone leading others to stray against God and worship anyone or anything before God - who commit fornication and adultery against God by loving and serving other gods. We are not to have any gods before the one true God that is the first and great commandment. These are sons of disobedience - usually professing to be Christians but are not - wolves in sheep's clothing. I don't believe that we should call it the "spirit of Jezebel" - the term is not used and to someone unlearned - it seems that one can be possessed by a dead person. That's what seems wrong . . . . just my opinion, nothing more.

Are you saying some have a Ms Olson spirit? :) I think I seen a guy that had a Otis Camble spirit from Mayberry? Or as the bible calls is , he was a drunk :( The flesh is well described in the bible...we don't have to make up silly religious spirits to make it something its not.
Everyone has their own soul and personality, but some are similar in their attitudes/spirits. Even John the Baptist came in the spirit and power of Elijah. Does that mean he was Elijah? No, it means they both shared the same likeness. Even today, there are a lot of women LIKE Jezabel. I think I came in the spirit and power of Cookie Monster, cause I can't seem to put them down today. Lol

There is a huge difference between a clear reference to a spirit of prophecy as was on Elijah and just making up unbiblical ideas such as this jezebel thing...which has no evidence in scripture and should not be accepted as sound biblical doctrine.

It's not about the spirit of an individual, but a demon spirit personified as Jezebel. The original Jezebel undoubtedly had this same evil spirit living in her, & her actions is that well remembered.
