Third lesson from the book of Job:
Suffering should cause us to search for answers

I would say suffering should make us stronger like Job if we keep fighting even if it is really hard! When we suffer, we should try to find solutions to fight suffering! And we must always fill our mind with positive thoughts and good examples taken from the Bible!

5. God Speaks To Us Through Dreams

God used to get closer to some human beings ! He used to speak to them directly or through dreams or visions ! Now we have the Bible ! But many people don’t read it or just read it superficially ! They should take a bit more into account the faithful characters in the Bible and think about what they would do if they were living today : would they read the Bible superficially or would they carefully read it and think about it and exchange their thoughts with others to help them do the same ?

Abstract

The book of Job is an obvious place to turn when a Christian suffers,

« In fact, it is more than that when we think about COMMUNICATION WITH GOD ! It is far more powerful than just thinking about a man who tells about his pain and suffering ! Job primarily concerns is to communicate with God and express his deepest feelings and that’s what we should be concerned in our communication with God ! Speak to him with our heart and there is no special time, we can do as much as we want ! »

Job 7:
“Is not the life of mortal man on earth like
compulsory labor,
And are not his days like those of a hired worker?"

- compulsory labor, hired worker: it sounds like slavery, displeasure, unhappiness!

- Of course, Job in down the pit and thus he speaks about his condition!

- He employs precise words to express or traduce his precise condition and real feelings!

- How is it possible to be insensitive?

- Well, the three individuals are and not only them!

Job 7:
“For a fact I know that this is so.
But how can mortal man be in the right in a case with God?

- Job recognizes that we are nothing compared to God, that we know nothing!

- Sometimes when we have to cope with difficult situations, it is difficult to understand what’s going on?

- Maybe if we had more information about the relationship between God and Job, it would be easier to understand why he says what he says!

- As there is a missing link, we can rely on God saying about Job that there is no one like him on earth!

- If it is not a valuable testimony, what do we need!

- It is like a lamp illuminating darkness and opening our minds to the Book of Job!

Job 9:
God will not restrain his anger;
Even the helpers of Rahab will bow down to him.

- When we think about the Israelites, they had to pay the price for their unfaithfulness and it happened many times I would say all the time!

- But Moses could prevent God to annihilate them all at once!

- So here again God is incredible because there is no one like him but he lets faithful human beings influence him: this is unbelievable!

Job 9:
Now my days are swifter than a runner;
They run away without seeing good.

- Whatever may happen to Job, in spite of his stress, his ideas about his personal situation are clear: every day is alike, Job doesn’t wait for anything, he has no hope!

- Whatever the three individuals say, Job won’t change his mind!

-He keeps straight in his boots!

Job 10:
Does it benefit you to oppress,
To despise the work of your hands
While you favor the advice of the wicked?

- Yes, Job is in bad conditions!

- Yes, Job feels bad!

- Yes, he wants to tell it to everybody!

- Yes, he wants to shout it to everybody!

- Yes, he doesn’t understand it!

- And yes, this misunderstanding IS GROWING AND GROWING INSIDE HIM!

- As if it was going to explode like a nuclear bomb!

Job 10
If I am guilty, too bad for me!
And even if I am innocent, I cannot raise my
head,
For I am filled with dishonor and affliction.

- Think of Job’s feelings: dishonor and affliction!

- He can’t feel worse!

- He has lost his root!

- He is imploring God to answer him!

- In any case the situation is “too bad for me”!

- Do you really perceive Job’s dishonor and affliction?

- Do you see him in front of your eyes?

Job 10
The tents of robbers are at peace,
And those who provoke God are secure,
Those who have their god in their hands.

- God is tortured!

- So he feels bad!

- And he sees what’s on in the world!

- What should he say if he could see what happens today?

Job 12
He makes nations grow great in order to
destroy them;
He enlarges nations, that he may lead them
into exile.

- We have good examples in the Bible!

- But they opposed God!

- Especially Israel which was special to God because of Abraham!

- And it revealed so many times rotten that it ended completely rotten!

- But it was their choice!

Job 13
Listen closely to my word;
Pay attention to my declaration.
See, now, I have prepared my legal case;
I know I am in the right.

- Job’s thoughts are clear!

- He has all his fighting spirit!

- His mind is so strong that it surpasses his pain and suffering!

- He has prepared his legal case meaning he has organized his personal defense!

- It is really important for him!

- And above all, he knows he is right!

- It is his compass which helps him to stay on course!

Job 14
For there is hope even for a tree.
If it is cut down, it will sprout again,
And its twigs will continue to grow.

- Yes, and it’s the same for us!

- We have to live few days!

- And we must live in this contaminated world!

- And we don’t have enough time to learn!

- there are so many things to learn!

- But our hope must get stronger and stronger!

- And we must build it up now to be be stronger ourselves!

- Even if we live in bad conditions!

- Even if we are ill or whatever!

Job 16
But now he has made me weary;
he has devastated my whole household.
You also seize me, and it has become a witness,
So that my own skinniness rises up and
testifies to my face.

- Yes, Job is mentally and physically tired!

- And when both parts are tired, it is difficult to find a motivation to continue!

- But the men who have come to see him don’t understand that!

- They are not his friends!

- Do they really know what means FRIENDSHIP!

- And apparently it is not better today because of superficiality!

- Thus Job helps us to make a personal check up!

- Do we understand who we are and what we are doing?

- Do we know what is our relationship to God?

- We need a regular check to know where we are, who we are, what we are doing and about our relationship to God!

- It is a question of health, life and death!

- We can’t wait till it is too late!

Job 17
He may offer to share with his friends,
While the eyes of his children fail.
He has made me an object of scorn among the
peoples,
So that I became one in whose face they spit.

- Everyone is against him!

- Nobody cares about him!

- But it is not enough some spit in his face!

- The devil is ready to use all the means to destroy Job!

- He is ready to all extremities!

- He knows he can do anything except kill him!

- He has no humanity!

- He is evil personalized!

- He wants humanity to be destroyed!

Job 19
He has stripped me of my glory
And removed the crown from my head.

- Yes, Job is proud of who he was before!

- When he used to help people!

- Or give them advice!

- And thinking of his past life may help him to rejoice a bit in his misfortune!

- And encourage him to keep fighting!

- And yes, he won’t forget!

- He will always remember!

- WHATEVER MAY HAPPENS!

According to Job, man is nothing compared to God ! God is powerful ! He is the creator of everything ! There is no one like God ! May I say that Job is angry against God, I don’t know, he tries to do his best to be God’s friend, he was blessed and now the situation has changed to the opposite and he doesn’t know why ! Does he complain ? Yes because he doesn’t understand at all ? Who wouldn’t do the same ? Would it be wrong ? I’m not saying that believers would complain to God but what I know is that many complain today because they don’t understand what’s going on ! Many think that if there was a God, he wouldn’t permit what’s on ! I’m not discussing this point, it’s only to make people think about Job’s attitude !

Job was faithful to God, God wasn't faithful in return.

Job's anger is understandable I think.

- Yes, against the devil!

- You can't say "God wasn't faithful in return"!

- There was a trial!

- Not only with the devil!

- But all the angels were watching!

- SUCH AN INCREDIBLE AFFAIR!

- It's the same today when people think God isn't doing anything!

- Whereas the devil is leading the world!

- And man is showing himself completely unable to lead himself!

- And again all the angels are watching!

- But in time God will put an end to this trial!

- And nobody will be able to oppose him!
