Proverbs 12:16 Fools show their annoyance at once, but the prudent overlook an insult.

Even if you are being attacked on here....you can do with that what you will.
While I do like your post, I must ask you and the others: what do you do we see a lamb being attacked by a wolf? What would a true shepherd do? I have seen so many newbies get their chops busted by just asking an honest question. And they usually don't see it coming. Just like a church, we should do all we can to make them feel loved and wanted. We can all sit in the grandstands and watch, but how long until our indignation takes over? You are right. We as individuals should be able to take it. But then they pick on you family......... that's just a different story isn't it?

All such pompous ettiquette. (I hope none were insulted). If we follow the 'no insult' rules we would end up having no discussion since some get insulted over every tiny infraction. Of course we shouldn't deeliberately insult but even at that many will take it that way.

i would certainly agree that there are ferocious wolves in the midst of God's people.
but they are always dressed, and behaving like lambs/sheep.

i agree completely their attacks on the spiritual health of the lambs is of the utmost importance.
Jesus made that clear.

these attacks are not some petty personal insults (what rubbish)...they are attacks against the Faith.
false doctrine. false practices.
heresies. blasphemies.

i agree....the wolves need to be watched, and they need to be made accountable for their claims and doctrine.

I'm a vain individual. Your insight is clever... I stereotype older members and love challenging (which can be learning too).
I seem to love challenging too, though it didn't occur to me before.

...yeah, amazing isn't it; how you cant even have an intelligent and/or civil conversation with what is supposed to be a 'Christian'...

...a significant number either attack and attempt to demean, or just demean with dumbed down sarcastic responses..., I have so far seen and found...

...There should be an 'intelligent responses only' and 'civil answers only' button on each thread that filters out toxic and/or inane responses IMO ...
It is entertaining carrying on conversations with people who belittle us.

Being attacked in the bible discussion for whatever reason is bound to happen, but i see it as a test of sorts. How christ like can I be with this attacker? It's a great chance to be humble and loving when someone is being mean and rude to you, not to be looking for an attack of course but when faced with it see how much like christ you are
It hurts for a little while, when someone attacks you, but the pain quickly disappears. What REALLY hurts is when we insult someone, because the pain we experience when we do that sticks around for a long while:

But I say to you that every one who is angry with his brother shall be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother shall be liable to the council, and whoever says, `You fool!' shall be liable to the hell of fire. Matt:22 RSV

it seems like some folks on here seem to think they are correct all the time about everything. it is hard to have a discussion with them and not get into a argument. I heard a pastor say once that the best way to handle people with strange doctrines and " out there" ideas is to ignore them.
I don't think it's wrong to argue. I just think it is wrong to belittle a person. You cross a line when you belittle the person you are arguing with. Yes?

There is a difference between arguing a point and belittling the person you are arguing with. One is okay, the other is not.

Satan wants us to worship him. He uses people to accomplish this. If he can force us to bow down to a person of his choice, then he has succeeded. He is constantly at work. Whenever you see a person act pridefully, you see Satan at work. People who insult other people are doing Satan's work.

I think that people are prideful. Even devout God fearing Christians can be prideful in that they think their views of Biblical things are correct and the views of others are wrong. They feel they are called by God to argue and attack.
