Hi CharliRenee,

From scripture, it appears Michael is an archangel, Gabriel stands in the presence of God, the 4 living creatures were cherubims and there are also what is called seraphims. Also, Lucifer is referred to as "son of the morning."

Hope this helped. :)

Jude 9
9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

Luke 1:19
19 And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings.

Ezekiel 10
Then I looked, and, behold, in the firmament that was above the head of the cherubims there appeared over them as it were a sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne. And he spake unto the man clothed with linen, and said, Go in between the wheels, even under the cherub, and fill thine hand with coals of fire from between the cherubims, and scatter them over the city. And he went in in my sight. Now the cherubims stood on the right side of the house, when the man went in; and the cloud filled the inner court. ...

Isaiah 6
1 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.

2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.

3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.

4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.

5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.

6 Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:

7 And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.

8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

Isaiah 14:12
How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
Thank you so much!!!

Were Michael and Gabriel specifically described as Cheribums?
Well like Lafftur said: Jude 9 defines Michael as an archangel (which means covering angel). There is something in the Hebrew name that defines Gabriel an an archangel also. You have to know the language.

Gabriel = H1403 - Hebrew
גַּבְרִיאֵל
gabrı̂y'êl
gab-ree-ale'
From H1397 and H410; man of God; Gabriel, an archangel: - Gabriel.
Total KJV occurrences: 2

Gabriel = G1043 - Greek
Γαβριήλ
Gabriēl
gab-ree-ale'
Of Hebrew origin [H1403]; Gabriel, an archangel: - Gabriel.
Total KJV occurrences: 2

According to Ezekiel - Cherubs are archangels (that covers).

Eze. 28:14 "You were the anointed cherub who covers; I established you; You were on the holy mountain of God; You walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones."

Isaiah 14:12

Lucifer = H1966
הֵילֵל
hêylêl
hay-lale'
From H1984 (in the sense of brightness); the morning star: - lucifer.
Total KJV occurrences: 1

keyword = H1984
הָלַל
hâlal
haw-lal'
A primitive root; to be clear (originally of sound, but usually of color); to shine; hence to make a show; to boast; and thus to be (clamorously) foolish; to rave; causatively to celebrate; also to stultify: - (make) boast (self), celebrate, commend, (deal, make), fool (-ish, -ly), glory, give [light], be (make, feign self) mad (against), give in marriage, [sing, be worthy of] praise, rage, renowned, shine.
Total KJV occurrences: 165

So, when we dissect the name: we come up with "morning light." Like it says in Ezekiel, he was beautiful.

I see three, Daniel, Zechariah and Mary.

Well, this was a trick question.........because I said "According to scripture." lol!

I thought there were 3 also, but the angel that spoke with Elisabeth's husband - Zacharias, the angel's name is never given in scripture. However, my guess would be it was Gabriel because he was sent to Daniel and Mary, but scripture only says an angel spoke with Zacharias regarding the birth of John the Baptist.

So, the correct answer (according to scripture) would be only Daniel and Mary. :) ( I do agree with you, though, I think Gabriel spoke to Zacharias too!)

Question:

Gabriel seems to be God's personal messenger. According to scripture, name the two people to whom Gabriel was sent.

Hello ToastAndTea, :)

You got Mary correct, but Zachariah is up for debate! LOL!

It was a trick question because I said "according to scripture." The name of the angel that spoke to Zachariah is never given in scripture. However, I do think it was Gabriel, too!

The correct answer to the question is Daniel and Mary. :)

The Lord tell the prophet Isaiah that the King of Judah was going to die, then the Lord told Isaiah to go back and tell the king he would live. What is the name of the king?

Correct! There are only three archangels or covering cherubs. One has fallen, the other two still cover God's universe by directing all other angels. That is why we call God: Lord of Hosts (army). Their coverage is pictured by the wings over the Ark of the Covenant mercy seat. :D
I know that lucifer / satan was a Cherubim.. But do you have any scripture showing that Michael and Gabriel are cherubim ??

The first horse is a white horse and it has a rider with a crown and a bow and He goes out to conquer.. Some say the Horse and the rider represent the anti-christ and his conquests..

The second horse is the Red horse is similar to the white horse but different that it will bring war all over the world.. So there will be a lot of wars happening apart from the conquest the rider of the white horse will be carrying out..

The third horse is the Black horse which signifies that great shortages of food will then happen on earth where the price of food will sky rocket.. It seems the worlds crops will be devastated by the effects of the wars..

The 4th horse is a Pale horse and as you would expect after the wars and the failure of the crops this horse represents death caused by famine pestilence and wild beasts of the earth.. 25% of the worlds population will die because of this..

Ya know, it's the 4 living creatures that release the 4 horses and their riders. To truly understand the 4 horsemen, I need to understand the 4 living creatures.

The 4 living creatures purpose is to display or make known in Heaven the Father's Will which is:

Lion - King: Highest Authority - it is Father's Will all of Heaven submit to Him because He is The Most High.
Ox/Calf - Priest: Only Father is able to minister and meet all needs of Heaven - it is Father's Will to do so.
Man - Savior: Only Father is able to save all of Heaven - it is the Father's Will to do so.
Eagle - Deliverer: Only Father is able to deliver all of Heaven from the sin of rebellion.

When Jesus came to Earth, He displayed the 4 living creatures (the Father's Will) to us on the Earth - making the Father known to us - showing us the Father.

Jesus was the Lion (King) because demons, the winds and waves obeyed, He spoke with such authority.
Jesus was the Ox/Calf (Priest) because He fed multitudes with 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread, turned water into wine, pulled money out of a fishes mouth to pay taxes, healed diseases and sickness, etc.
Jesus was the Man (Savior) because He saved us from our sins with His Blood and Body - offering forgiveness and giving us His Righteousness.
Jesus was the Flying Eagle (Deliverer) because He delivers us from Death, Hell and the Grave which He did every time He raised someone from the dead.

It is the Father's Will that I come under the 4 Living Creatures by submitting to the Father's Will for me by choosing Jesus to have all authority over me, trusting and relying on Jesus to meet all my needs, believing I cannot save myself but totally rely on Jesus to save me, and believe Jesus is The Resurrection and The Life for me - He will raise me up from death, hell and the grave.

If I rebel and do not come under the Father's Will for me, then the 4 horsemen are the consequences that I will suffer. The 4 living creatures release the 4 horsemen.

White Horse and Rider - The one with authority rides a white horse which is anyone that I give authority to over me, including myself. This rebellion happened in I Samuel 8 when Israel desired a "man" (not God) to rule over them like all the other kingdoms of the world.

Red Horse and Rider - When I have to "fight" to take care of myself in my own strength - fight over food, clothing and shelter - wars brake out because we're fighting to meet our needs or defend what's ours.

Black Horse and Rider - My faith in God will be tested and placed in the balance scales - wheat is the Jew and barley is the gentile; the one day's wages is the price Jesus paid in one day by dying on the cross for Jew and Gentile; oil is the anointed Jew; Wine is the anointed Gentile. Satan desires to sift us like wheat/barley, but Jesus has prayed for us that our faith will not fail. Once sealed with Holy Spirit, we are oil and wine - cannot be harmed - we belong to God.

Pale Horse and Rider - Two riders - (Death and Hades) If I do not accept the Father's deliverance, then I will suffer Death and Hades - eventually the Lake of Fire.

Now that I know and understand the Father's Will for me and that ALL is in Jesus, I submit and give Jesus all authority over my life - Jesus Christ is my King and Lord, High Priest, Savior and Deliverer! Amen.

Hi Adstar,

From scripture, it appears Michael is an archangel and Gabriel stands in the presence of God.

Well Lafftur, the Lord shared with me the definition of archangel (as a covering angel). Being Lucifer was a covering cherub, I guess the other's are cherub by association (also pictured as covering the mercy seat). Christians and Jews alike get way into angel study and some even worship. It becomes very convoluted and confusing.

Jews list two more archangels Uriel and Raphael not in our scripture (see Angels in Judaism at Wikipedia). Their hierarchy is mixed all up one chart has a certain type listed as top hierarchy while another will list the same on the bottom. I don't think God intended us to search out how angels are made up. We should just acknowledge their presence, and they are directed by God for God. Forget angels and worship God. :)
