Personally I don’t gamble, we are given the example of being a shrewd servant.
It can be argued that gambling is wasteful with what God has given us.

On the other hand I wonder what people make of the stock market, bonds etc.

In a way that’s a sort of corporate gambling, you buy shares hoping to make
lots of money etc. Many do that successfully, some lose millions.

The whole of our economy is based on playing the stock market.

Then there is cold hard currency, verses digital currency.

I think there are different types of Gambling, personal and global.

The personal stuff I have got to say, is a big no no. It wrecks people’s lives.
Yep that's true.
We do tend to think of gambling in terms of expending money now for a return straight away.

Yet we make long term investments in the hope of a return, like pensions and the like.

I'm not saying that is wrong to invest for retirement.
I know some believers who think it's wrong.

You do raise a very point though.

Just like casinos, the stock market per se is rigged by the major manipulators. But there is nothing wrong with finding a solid company (say a utility) and investing in its stocks. But speculative investment is really gambling. Bonds have little value today (1-3% yields) although there is still a bond market (for major players).

I gamble only because I enjoy playing and not to earn money more wealth while playing.

Proverbs 23:4 Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom.

Poker takes a considerable about of labor to actually put yourself into positions to actually collect chips on individual hands in order to be able to finish 1st in a tournament. Away from the tables players put in 12+ hours a day on solvers which are computer programs in order to find the most optimal decisions to take. Then putting in 12 hours a day of playing tournaments and taking the knowledge and applying it.

Noone should go into anything really in order to get richer. Rather to become diligent in their field of work.

Most people who play poker don't put much work in and all hope to make money more wealth. That's a recipe for failure. True riches ain't from wealth anyways.

There's two ways to live.

1) Have all you want.
2) Want all you have.

If your always living in number 2 you don't have a problem in life. It's called contentment.

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." -1st Timothy 6:10

Covetousness is a sin and if you live in number 1 your basically wanting all the time and causing yourself problems.
