I see. You are evasive on that point. Might we conclude it is a new teaching then?
Not sure why you see it as evasive, I have addressed the post as I see it needing to be addressed.

You, however, charge evasion and then go on to what must be your reasoning which fails to be seen as logical.

You want to answer my post? Instead of your own evasion?

And just to make sure you understand, I have made it clear...

...it is not a new teaching, it is teaching that is taken directly from the Word of God.

Please address the posts if you feel I have been in error on any point.

Instead of this irrelevant nonsense.

God bless.

You are aware, I'm sure, that most all new movements claim their dogma is from Scripture and I have little to believe that the LS teaching is no different.

I'm not defending my position...I am defending the Word of God.

Which you are free to point out where I am in error in regards to either Lordship Salvation or the No-Lordship Movement.

But I see the source of your confusion, lol.

I made the assertion of 'a little bit of clean up' because you stated, "Faith and Repentance are better described in terms of character, ...". (I even bolded it in my original)
And you immediately think I am referring to something a person does, lol. How typical.

What I mean is that just as character is a unified package, without separate dimensions as a coin has, even so do we view faith and repentance in salvation.

A person's character can consist of being temperamental, while at the same time be caring, as well as patient (not that we are seeing good examples of that here, lol).

So too, faith and repentance in relation to a believer is a consistent "package," not two opposing or diverse sides.

And I made it clear I was just yanking your chain, amigo, so you can set aside your further attempts to justify yourself. lol

Do you want to discuss Lordship Salvation, or keep on with the nonsense that has made it impossible to do that?

That seems to imply a bit of a previous clean up in order to have faith and repentance
No, it is just a more fitting analogy to represent faith and repentance.

...Scripture says otherwise...
No, actually it doesn't.

It is in fact your own little straw man.

Romans 4:5 (KJV) But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
Completely irrelevant to the point at hand.

And your problem is that you are too busy trying to discuss irrelevancies to ever come to an understanding of whether Lordship Salvation is a direct address of the No-Lordship movement.

You have been given ample opportunity, as has anyone keeping up with this thread...to find out.

But you really don't want to, do you?

Much easier to take potshots with little quips that make you feel clever, than to put a little effort in clarifying this Controversy.

What makes you think of food? Are you hungry? It seems you excuse your yanking someone else's chain as not being nonsense that interferes with discussion. Just a point to ponder.

Faith and repentance are two sides of the same coin.
You can't have one without the other.
As we look to and trust in Christ, to that degree we look away from and distrust all else.
Salvation has no flip-sides, Faith and Repentance are better described in terms of character, rather than something we have to turn over to discover.

As you can see I never said they were opposites pulling in opposite directions, another miscaracterization. I said, "As we look to and trust in Christ, to that degree we look away from and distrust all else".
BTW your continual LOL-ing while belittling others is uncalled for.

Well, you know how it is, when someone gives such a great contribution to a discussion and you just don't know how to respond for the sheer depth of it...

I hardly see my LOLing nearly as bad as you condoning and participating in false witness, my friend.

Again, are you going to actually address the topic or are you going to continue in these rabbit trails?

After all, should be fairly easy to show the error of a cult member, right?

Get busy, and stop wasting space in this thread. Address the topic, and address the teaching that doesn't go back 150 years, but that which goes back the last few pages.

lol

And by the way, did you understand your error in regards to using character to illustrate faith and repentance? How they are something we expect to see in those who profess to be saved?

Or does it need to be explained better?

Lordship salvation is a teaching all thru the Bible. Just because Johnny Mac labeled it means absolutely nothing. It's been in the Bible all along, so ENOUGH with how long the doctrine's been around.

Serving the Lord is a teaching all thru the OT, long before the Law. I would find it very odd that the Lord wanted His creation to serve Him as LORD in the OT AND in Heaven AND in the New Jerusalem, but not anywhere in the New Covenant.

Actually, the position of God's children being bondslaves to the Lord carries over into the New Covenant, & here's some scripture to support it:

Romans 12:1-21 (NASB)
[SUP]1 [/SUP]Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. [SUP]2 [/SUP]And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. [SUP]3 [/SUP]For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith. [SUP]4 [/SUP]For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, [SUP]5 [/SUP]so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. [SUP]6 [/SUP]Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly: if prophecy, according to the proportion of his faith; [SUP]7 [/SUP]if service, in his serving; or he who teaches, in his teaching; [SUP]8 [/SUP]or he who exhorts, in his exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness. [SUP]9 [/SUP]Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good. [SUP]10 [/SUP]Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor; [SUP]11 [/SUP]not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; [SUP]12 [/SUP]rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer, [SUP]13 [/SUP]contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality. [SUP]14 [/SUP]Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. [SUP]15 [/SUP]Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. [SUP]16 [/SUP]Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation. [SUP]17 [/SUP]Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right in the sight of all men. [SUP]18 [/SUP]If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men. [SUP]19 [/SUP]Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, "VENGEANCE is MINE, I WILL REPAY," says the Lord. [SUP]20 [/SUP]"BUT IF your enemy is hungry, FEED him, AND IF he is thirsty, GIVE him a drink; FOR IN SO doing you WILL HEAP burning coals on his head." [SUP]21 [/SUP]Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

More to come......:)

Acts 20:17-21 (KJV)
17 And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church. 18 And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons, 19 Serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews: 20 And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house, 21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

Paul was a committed servant of Christ, & lived the example for others to follow. He even said, "Follow me as I follow Christ".

Acts 4:23-31 (NASB)
[SUP]23 [/SUP]When they had been released, they went to their own companions and reported all that the chief priests and the elders had said to them. [SUP]24 [/SUP]And when they heard this, they lifted their voices to God with one accord and said, "O Lord, it is You who MADE THE HEAVEN and the earth and the SEA, AND ALL that is in them, [SUP]25 [/SUP]who by the Holy Spirit, through the mouth of our father David Your servant, said, 'WHY did the GENTILES rage, AND THE PEOPLES devise futile things? [SUP]26 [/SUP]'THE KINGS of the earth TOOK their stand, AND THE RULERS were gathered together AGAINST the LORD and against HIS CHRIST.' [SUP]27 [/SUP]"For truly in this city there were gathered together against Your holy servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, [SUP]28 [/SUP]to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose predestined to occur. God bless.
I never used 'character' to illustrate faith and repentance. Character was your word.

Here is what I said,
"Faith and repentance are two sides of the same coin.
You can't have one without the other.
As we look to and trust in Christ, to that degree we look away from and distrust all else."
You can find it at post #294.

And with that, I am ceasing from responding to this thread and most other of your posts seeing that your defense of Mac Arthur at all costs has blinded you to normal conversation between brothers. You take even honest questions as an attack on your leader.

Sorry, and no lol.
