God would not overpower or Force anyone to stay saved if they want to willfully walk away it's just plain simple logic.
I am not saying that they immediately lose their salvation as soon as they walk away but if they remain in that state until they die they are lost.

They cannot be taken away from him by force but they can willfully walk away.
That's not what it says either. You have to read that into the text. The tricky thing about eternal life is that it's eternal.

There are a lot of things in Scripture that we must take on faith. Through the Holy Ghost and faith in His word is how the richness and depth of the word is revealed to us in which we cannot see with our natural eye.

Sure, that's true. Revelation is the surest means of understanding. But if two people are claiming revelation, one is wrong.

So what you're trying to tell me here is that someone cannot sincerely by faith and Grace accept the word of God be saved feels and filled with the Holy Ghost cannot turn their back willfully (our will to choose right and wrong is also a free gift from God) on God and walk away and be lost.

Sure. A passage may have increasingly more meaning, but the scripture is always in agreement. So if two people hold different understandings of the same passage, one of the understandings is incorrect.

If the word of God is a light for us, and satan poses as an angel of light, then he utilizes the lie "posed" as the word of God so that some claiming revelation get it wrong, this is how it has happened. They've wholeheartedly received a poser's explanation of it. You won't 'get it right' unless you go directly to Him, humbly realizing that you can and are vulnerable to being deceived without His revelation rather than looking for 'just' the revelation of scripture.

So let's help one another as they did in the times of Christ to understand scripture together. If anything I said seems in error please let me know so we can worker together in Christ.

Yes. It's the nature of something eternal to last forevermore. Thus, if someone possesses eternal life, they will live forevermore.
Remaining in this estate is promised to the believer in scripture...He who has begun a good work in you will perform it until the Day of Jesus Christ.
Your salvation wasn't produced by you, and cannot be kept by you. Left to ourselves, we would all scatter like sheep. But no one can pry us out of either Jesus' or the Father's hands.
One of the problems inherent in believing a person is responsible for their salvation is that one will also think they are responsible to keep it.

Thank you so much for that it really helps me to understand. No matter how far Lost at times we may feel God is always near and always willing to forgive. But help me to understand if we stay in a state of backslidden sin and we're to die would we still be saved.

Very important to me because I want Eternal Life with my Lord Jesus Christ.

Excellent idea; have you considered?:

1) The Lord Has Always 'Known' them that are His Own
(1 Timothy 2:19; Ephesians 1:4-6)

Rightly Divided (2 Timothy 2:15) From “Things That Differ!” (online):

2) The Lord Has Never 'Known' them that are Not His (Matthew 7:21-23)

Thus, the 'middle-of-the-road' theory, "saved, then lost," has No basis, Correct?

Amen.

Hi Everybody,

Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section. I am new here.
No problem - welcome aboard.

The thing that brought me to a Christian forum is to explore some ideas regarding Christian faith and salvation. In particular, how do you know you are saved? Can you believe in God, believe that Jesus is the Messiah and be respectful towards God and yet not have your name in the book of life?
Absolutely. the devils "believe" probably more accurately than we do, but aren't "saved". BELIEF, and efforts to do "good works" don't save you. (Eph 2:8,9)

Being Convicted of your SIN by the Holy Spirit, and Surrendering to God in Repentance and calling on HIM IN FAITH for salvation gets the job done, and THEN the Holy Spirit indwells you, and bears witness with YOUR spirit that you're a child of God.. "belief" is "religion", but FAITH is based on God's WORD TO YOU (Rom 10:17), which can be trusted absolutely.

(quote)The thing that has me asking is, in the past I felt like my connection to God was validated through prayer.

I would pray, then events would occur, usually never in the way I expected, that would bring me to what I believe was a God driven outcome.(/quote)

Probably a DECADE BEFORE I became a Born Again Christian, I also had similar experiences, which WEREN'T Salvation related, but simply God demonstrating TO ME that He was absolutely there, and was aware of and acted upon the requests of a 12 tear old kid. "Theology" claims that God doesn't "hear" the prayers of unsaved people, but that's a total LIE. God hears EVERY PRAYER, and answers according to HIS WILL and purpose.

I have shamefully shared some frustrated, angry words with God. I'm sure He wasn't too happy about that.
God says that He'd RATHER we were either "COLD" or "HOT" rather than "Lukewarm". God KNOWS your heart, and has obviously been working in your life to "Connect". Jesus AS A HUMAN MAN knows first hand about our frustrations, and temptations. it's impossible to "Shock" God.

I have never been end times focused, beyond basic curiosity, but assumed the time of Christs return would be well past my lifetime.
"Eschatology" is nothing but a "Religious word for "Rank Speculation". The World WILL GET WORSE, as we move toward the end of the age. It's O.K. to see thing growing spiritually darker, but "date setting" is never wise. I'd suggest that you get together with a pastor of a Baptist, or Assembly of God church in your area, and share your thoughts. A Christian Pastor can provide council, and help to lead you to an intimate relationship with God through FAITH in the SIN offering Of Jesus on the Cross. It was a Baptist outreach that resulted in ME becoming a Born again Christian 60 years ago beyond the shadow of a doubt.

I don't know. Either could be true. It could be they are genuinely saved, but more likely they are not. Just as a good earthly father will admonish and correct his children, so too our heavenly Father does with His own. And it's hard to imagine one so resistant to this that they remain in their sin. I believe it's conceivable, but unlikely they are actually saved.
There are many people who attach themselves to Christ who have no real part in Him. Just read Matthew 7:21-23. They learn the liturgy, the songs, the people. But they never meet Jesus. An interesting story in Luke 16 about a rich man who died and lifted up his eyes in hell. He recognized father Abraham, but never acknowledges God Himself. His experience with religion led him to father Abraham, but not to Father God.
