4- Marks speaks about Jesus curing a leper:

- Jesus is moved with pity

- He touches him

- He says: “I want to! Be made clean.”

- Immediately the leprosy vanishes from him and he becomes clean

Once again we get the same account.

5- Mark speaks about Jesus curing a paralyzed man:

- A paralytic is carried by four men

- There are too many people so they remove the roof above Jesus, and after digging an opening, they lower the stretcher on which the paralytic is lying

- When Jesus sees their faith, he says: “Child, your sins are forgiven.”

- Then the scribes say: “why is this man talking this way? He is blaspheming. Who can forgive sins except one, God?”

- Jesus answers them by saying to the paralyzed man: “I say to you, Get up, pick up your stretcher, and go to your home.”

- The paralyzed man gets up and immediately picks up his stretcher and walks out in front of them all.

It is exactly like Luke’s account!

6- Mark speaks about Jesus curing a man with a withered hand:

- On a sabbath Jesus enters a synagogue

- A man is there whose right hand is withered

- The scribes and the Pharisees are watching Jesus closely to see whether he cures on the sabbath so they can accuse him

- Jesus says:“Get up and stand in the center and then stretch out your hand.”

- He does so and his hand is restored

We get exactly the same account such as Luke.

7- Mark speaks about Jesus calming down a storm:

- Jesus and his disciples get into a boat

- A great violent windstorm breaks out

- The waves keep crashing into the boat

- The boat is close to being swamped

- Jesus is in the stern, sleeping on the pillow

- The disciples wake Jesus up saying:

Teacher, do you not care that we are about to perish?”

- Jesus rebukes the wind and says to the sea: “Hush! Be quiet!”

- Jesus asks his disciples about their faith

- The disciples are filled with fear and are astounded

Once again the same account such as Luke.

8- Mark speaks about Jesus walking on the sea:

- Evening has fallen

- The boat is in the middle of the sea with the disciples but without Jesus

- He sees them struggling to row

- The wind is against them

- About the fourth watch of the night he comes toward them, walking on the sea

- He is inclined to pass them by

- The disciples think it is an apparition so they cry out because they are troubled

- Immediately he speaks to them saying:

take courage! It is I; do not be afraid.”

- Then he gets up into the boat with them

- The wind abates

- The disciples are amazed

9- Mark speaks about Jesus multiplying bread and fish:

- It’s late and the crowd has nothing to eat

- Jesus asks his disciples how many loaves they have

- They answer five, besides two fish

- He instructs all the people to recline in groups of 100 and of 50.

- Then he takes the five loaves and the two fish, he looks up to heaven and blesses them

- Then he breaks them up and begins giving them to the disciples to set before the crowd

- So they eat and are satisfied and they take up 12 baskets full of fragments, aside from the fish

- Those who eat are 5,000 men

The account is like the one of Luke with an additional detail that is groups of 100 and of 50 instead of only 50.

10- Mark speaks about Jesus multiplying bread and fish in connection with the 4,000:

- Jesus feels pity for the crowd, because they have already stayed with him for three days and they have nothing to eat

- They have seven loaves of bread

- Jesus instructs the crowd to recline on the ground

- then he takes the seven loaves, gives thanks breaks them, and begins giving them to his disciples to serve, and they serve them to the crowd

- They also have a few small fish, and blessing these, je tells them to serve these also

- So they eat and are satisfied, and they take up seven large baskets full of leftover fragments

- There are about 4,000 men

- Then he sends them away

So once again we have a similar account such as in the case of the 5,000 with one additional detail that is the crowd spent three days with Jesus!

12- Mark speaks about Jesus curing Jairus’ daughter and the woman who touches him:

- A man named Jairus comes

- He is a presiding officer of the synagogue

- He falls at the feet of Jesus and begins to plead with him to come to his house tu cure his daughter who is extremely ill

- Jesus goes with him

- The crowds press in on him

- A woman who has a flow of blood for 12 years is there

- She has seen many physicians and spent all her resources but she has become worse

- She touches his outer garment

- Immediately she is cured

- Jesus feels it and asks who touches him

- the woman explains why she did it

- Jesus says:

Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed from your grievous sickness.”

- Some men from the home of the presiding officer of the synagogue comes to say that Jairus’ daughter has died

- Jesus says to Jairus:

Have no fear, only exercise faith.”

- He goes with Peter, John, James

- People are all weeping and wailing loudly

- Jesus asks them:

Why are you weeping and causing this commotion? The child has not died but is sleeping.”

- People begin to laugh at him scornfully, because they know she has died

- But Jesus takes the girl by the hand and says to her:

Little girl, I say to you, get up!”

- And immediately the girl rises and begins walking (She is 12 years old)

Once again we get the same powerful account of Jesus’ action.

14- Mark speaks about Jesus curing a possessed man and the pigs:

- A man under the power of an unclean spirit meets him from among the tombs

- His haunt is among the tombs

- Continually, night and day, he is crying out in the tombs and in the mountains and slashing himself with stones

- But on catching sight of Jesus from a distance, he runs and bows down to him

- Then he cries out with a loud voice and says:

What have I to do with you, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I put you under oath by God not to torment me.”

- In fact, the man is possessed by many demons

- They ask him to permit them to enter into the swine, and he gives them permission

- And the herd rushes over the precipice into the sea and drown (there are about 2,000 animals)

- The herders report what has happened and the inhabitants ask Jesus to go away because they are afraid

17- Mark speaks about Jesus curing a Greek woman’s daughter:

- Immediately, a woman whose little daughter has an unclean spirit hears about him and comes and falls down at his feet

- The woman is a Greek, a Syrophoenician by nationality

- She keeps asking him to expel the demon from her daughter

- But her says to her:

First let the children be satisfied, for it is not right to take the bread of the children and throw it to the little dogs”

- But she replies to him:

Yes, sir, and yet even the little dogs underneath the table eat of the crumbs of the little children.”

- At that he says to her:

Because you said this, go; the demon has gone out of your daughter.”

- So she goes away to her home and finds the young child lying on the bed, and the demon is gone

So Jesus was sent to the Jews but on some occasions he would turn to other people depending on their attitudes meaning he is flexible. He can adapt to the situation even he wants to fulfill his mission.

18- Mark speaks about Jesus curing a possessed child:

- One of the crowd answers Jesus:

Teacher, I brought my son to you because he has a speechless spirit. Wherever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground, and he foams at the mouth and grinds his teeth and loses his strength. I asked your disciples to expel it, but they were not able to do so.”

- In response he says to them:

O faithless generation, how long must I continue with you? How lon,g must I put up with you? Bring him to me.”

- So they bring the boy to him, but at the sight of him, the spirit at once throws the child into convulsions

- After falling on the ground, he keeps rolling about, foaming at the mouth

- Then Jesus asks the father:

How long has this been happening to him?”

He says:

from childhood on, and often it would throw him into the fire and also into the water to destroy him. But if you can do anything, have pity on us and help us.”

- Jesus says to him:

That expression, “If you can”! Why all things are possible for the one who has faith.”

- Immediately the child’s father cries out and says:

I have faith! Help me out where I need faith!”

- Jesus, now noticing that a crowd is rushing toward them, rebukes the unclean spirit, saying to it:

You speechless and deaf spirit, I order you, get out of him and do not enter into him again!”

- After crying out and going through many convulsions, it comes out, and the child seems to be dead, so that most of the people are saying:

He is dead!”

But Jesus takes him by the hand and raises him up, and he stands up.

- So after he enters into a house, his disciples ask him privately:

Why could we not expel it?”

- he says to them:

This kind can come out only by prayer.”

21- Mark speaks about Jesus curing a blind man in two stages:

- In Bethsaida, people bring Jesus a blind man and they plead with him to touch him

- So he takes the blind man by the hand and brings him outside the village

- After spitting on his eyes, he lays his hands on him and asks him:

Do you see anything?”

- The man looks up and says:

I see people, but they look like trees walking about.”

- Again he lays his hands on the man’s eyes, and the man sees clearly

- His sight is restored, and he can see everything distinctly

- So he sends him home, saying:

Do not enter into the village.”

22- Mark speaks about Jesus curing a blind man called Bartimaeus:

- They come into Jericho

- Bartimaeus (the son of Timaeus), a blind beggar, is sitting beside the road

- When he hears that it is Jesus the Nazarene, he starts shouting and saying:

Son of David, Jesus, have mercy on me!”

- At this many begin rebuking him, telling him to be silent, but all the more he keeps shouting:

Son of David, have mercy on me!”

- So Jesus stops and says:

Call him to me”

- So they call the blind man, saying to him:

Take courage! Get up; he is calling you”

- Throwing off his outer garment, he leaps to his feet and goes to Jesus

- Then Jesus says to him:

What do you want me to do for you?”

- The blind man says to him:

“”Rabboni, let me recover my sight

- And Jesus says to him:

Go. Your faith has made you well”

- And immediately he recovers his sight, and he begins to follow him on the road

28- Mark speaks about Jesus drying a fig tree:

- The next day when they are leaving Bethany, Jesus feels hungry

- From a distance he catches sight of a fig tree that has leaves, and he goes to see whether he can find something on it. But on coming to it, he finds nothing but leaves, for it is not the seasons for figs

- So he says to it:

Let no one eat fruit from you ever again”

- And his disciples are listening

- However, one of those standing by draws his sword and strikes the slave of the high priest, taking off his ear

1- Mark 1: On the sabbath, Jesus teaches in a synagogue and a possessed man appeared so he cures him. Then he cures Simon’s mother-in-law who is lying down sick with a fever and she begins ministering to them. After evening has fallen, Jesus keeps curing people and the whole city is gathered right at the door. It must have been crazy something like hysteria. The next day, early in the morning , when it is still dark, he goes up and goes outside and leaves for an isolated place, and he begins praying probably asking God to give him strength. And the disciples are hunting him down because people are looking for him. But he says he can’t spend his time curing people he must also teaches! So he teaches and cures in particular a leper. The situation is impossible so he is no longer able to enter openly into a city but he stays outside in isolated places. And people keep coming from everywhere!

2- Imagine many people, there is no more room, not even around the door and Jesus begins to speak the word to them! And four men bring a paralytic. But it isn’t possible to reach Jesus so they get through the roof. For Jesus it is incredible and he says:

CHILD, YOUR SINS ARE FORGIVEN.”

It is just unbelievable, a paralytic on a stretcher coming from the roof and people everywhere and Jesus’ words and then you get these ridiculous religious leaders who appear like rats thinking:

WHY IS THIS MAN TALKING THIS WAY? HE IS BLASPHEMING. WHO CAN FORGIVE SINS EXCEPT ONE, GOD?”

So Jesus answers them saying:

WHY ARE YOU REASONING THESE THINGS IN YOUR HEARTS? WHICH IS EASIER, TO SAY TO THE PARALYTIC? “YOUR SINS ARE FORGIVEN,” OR TO SAY, “GET UP AND PICK UP YOUR STRETCHER AND WALK”? BUT IN ORDER FOR YOU TO KNOW THAT THE SON OF MAN HAS AUTHORITY TO FORGIVE SINS ON EARTH-”

He says to the paralytic:

I SAY TO YOU, GET UP, PICK UP YOUR STRETCHER, AND GO TO YOUR HOME.”

And everybody is astonished and glorifies God saying:

WE HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS.”

YES DEFINITELY!

3- Jesus enters into a synagogue and he cures a man with a withered hand on the sabbath and the religious leaders are looking for a way to accuse him and Jesus is indignant with these rats because they are completely insensitive and these rats begin holding council with Herod’s followers to find a way to kill Jesus. And Jesus keeps teaching and curing people. Jesus is so busy that sometimes he can’t even eat.

4- In Chapter 4 Jesus gets through a great violent windstorm as if it was nothing while his disciples are terrorized and he stops it. “WHO REALLY IS THIS? EVEN THE WIND AND THE SEA OBEY HIM.”
