Such people (if I am thinking about the same kind of people you are) have what I call an "independent spirit". They end up being pretty weird in their thinking and theology. They need deliverance.
I call it Pharisaic Complex, aka, nauseating arrogance to the nth degree. One full page now with this thread and not one of them has chimed in. Very interesting. This means they know full well who they are and the error of their ways, but their pride keeps them going and going and going . . .

Just like everyone the enemy is at work twisting scripture to get his job done. Of course prayer is what needs to happen, but who actually means it when you say, I'm praying for you? It starts with the heartfelt one that will swallow his (my) own pride and just pray God's power over situations.
I think it's rude to say to someone "I will pray for you". Unless it is asked or there is a relationship of trust established. These people who argue and then say I'll pray for you are manipulators and will attempt flattery to "save face".

In that context yes, but what about just dropping to ones knees and asking for God to take over whatever that means....
Oh and sirk, im not praying for you :p

Funny....l was doing the same for you. Awesome.

Speaking of which, when someone ends an arrogant post with "l will pray for you", it creeps me out.
Let's be honest, most likely they will not.

I'd rather them say "l'm gonna put you on ignore Mikey"
This, l know they WILL do.
It also states that they were a fan of my work. :) ........and now they aren't anymore.

I do too.
Prayer is awesome.

I would love it, if l truly believed they were actually praying for me,
......and not just gun slinging a cliche statement and the end of their very long note to me, describing how much l suck.

If someone asks me to pray for them, I do it on the spot, after asking what I may stand in agreement with them over.

That usually weeds out the homospirituals in a real hurry.

I think it's kind of fun that generally, the homospirituals don't come play on my threads. What do you suppose that's all about? I just wanna be loved....lol

We don't play fair?
I'm assuming?

Which is wild, because l have always included everyone in everything l do.

Just don't touch my yogurt.
I don't share my yogurt. :p

I don't like sharing my food either.......you'd think I was raised by wild dogs or something.

What you believe is a lie. You will lose your salvation. My doubt is without a doubt. You are rapists and serial killers, and telling everybody to be rapists and serial killers, who don't agree with me. I stumble, you sin. You may as well be roasting in the lake of fire, as we speak. I will pray for your God forsaken soul, my friend. God bless you spawn of Satan. Kissy kissy.

Luke 18:11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are...

One of the most disappointing things for me to discover in my study of Christian history is that there has never been a time when there were not conflicts, strife, differing opinions -- all of which served to divide the church. Even Paul dealt with it.

Philippians 4, NASB
1 Therefore, my beloved brethren whom I long to see, my joy and crown, in this way stand firm in the Lord, my beloved.
2 I urge Euodia and I urge Syntyche to live in harmony in the Lord.
3 Indeed, true companion, I ask you also to help these women who have shared my struggle in the cause of the gospel, together with Clement also and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.

I think Jesus foresaw, or foreknew, that there would be difficulties among us.

John 17
20
"I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word;
21 that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.
22 "The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one;
23 I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me.

We are one in Christ. Does that mean we share the same views? Just look around CC to see the absurdity of that concept. Recently I have been one of the worst of those who are convinced that the best way to believe is my way. Spiritual superiority has no place in the church or in any Christian community, including those online.

How to overcome it? Well, as with me, the rest are going to have to become convicted of their pride and their reliance on knowledge applied without love. Until then, I think the best thing to do is simply let them rant. Many of you confronted me about how I "know it all" and can't let the slightest deviation from the doctrine I hold dear to be challenged. Did I respond in love? Unfortunately, no. I responded with the essense of "If I want your opinion, I'll ask for it."

So forgive me for being one of the "homospiritual" of the recent past. I had to see in my own words, through the revelation of the Holy Spirit I was quenching, how hurtful and arrogant they were. Help me not to slip back into that. As I've quoted so often lately, we must take the attitude of Paul, all of us.

1 Corinthians 2
2
For I determined to know nothing * among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.

But don't you think it's error to categorize a message board as a church congregation? You have cults and trolls out the wazoo, who would not congregate with a mainstream Christian church. Neither have I found such error of basic doctrines in a real church.

This is far from a Christian community, I believe having seen everything of the faith vilely refuted here, at one time or another, which I've never seen done by a church congregation, ever. Also, you first have to be dealing with a Christian, to say you're disputing with a Christian. Disputing with the unsaved is no different than disputing with the world, and spiritually dead is spiritually dead.
