The problem with Mormons as I see it. The have no need of Jesus as it is purely works based. They have written their own book and refer to it more than the bible. They are controlled by 3 families that are filthy stinking rich. They have multiple wives as many as they want (which I could not imagine, I do good with just one). and much much more.

I live in SLC, Utah. Some day I will come near enough to Knoxville that I will let you know and look you up. Thanks and look forward to that day. I'll even go with you to your church.
If God is willing we are planning to attend a family reunion next year out there. They have one every August. I think they will considerate on the short story that I just sent to them last week about our Scottish ancestor that was a POW of the English civil war when they were captured by Cromwell and sent to the colonies

I disagree most heartily except with your personal life which I know nothing about. I'm not of that denomination however.

Hi Just_me,
I quoted Hebrews 12:9 in regards to our spirits being created by our Father in Heaven. 'Fathers of our flesh' (Earthly parents) and 'Father of spirits' (Heavenly Father creator of our spirits). I isolated this verse because I believe it stands on it's own. I believe that Paul was teaching this as it really is and not a metaphor. What are your thoughts on this?

well, let's see... I wrote that I couldn't think of anything in the bible that would go against free will before birth...
I have not given much thought of scriptures about free will before earth. But I will. A couple that come to mind is Revelations 12. It is obvious from this chapter that Lucifer has chosen to follow evil. The war did not start overnight, there must have been some time for it to smolder before it blew out into an all-out war. You don't think God knew what was going on. Why did God not make Lucifer stay in line. Because God's first rule is "free agency" or "free will" to choose as you see fit. Why did not Lucifer stay in line? Because he had "free will" to choose. Revelations chapter 12 lets us know that there was "free will" in the before our birth.

One other scripture comes to mind and that is Jude 1:6. This scripture tells us that there were angels that kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation. This scriptures supports the idea that we had "free will" in the pre-existence. Some chose well, other chose badly. I'll have more on this.

Yes Lil Sis, Lucifer had freewill as well as did all the angels and 1\3 chose to side with Satan.

I take it as a parable.
John 3:12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe , if I tell you of heavenly things?

I agree but may I ask you to have more candor please. I have more than 100 relatives that are of that denomination living in SLC. Conversations happen all the time. Take it as you like.

Hi Kerry,
I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I was born into the Roman Catholic Church and then embraced Judaism with my Father. I have been a very active member of the LDS church now for thirty years. You have stated some misconceptions about my faith. I do have need for the atonement of Jesus Christ. Yes, we have the Book of Mormon, I believe and know that it is another Testament of Jesus Christ. I have no idea about what you said that 'Thy are controlled by 3 families...). I have never heard of that. We do not practice polygamy since 1890. What is the 'and much much more)?

I do believe John the Revelator when he taught in the book of Revelations:
Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
I Believe If you want to know something about another person’s faith or beliefs, ask an active, participating, and somewhat knowledgeable member of that faith. Than to try it on your own.
I try to live by some advice by one of my leaders who now deceased:
"We cannot afford to be arrogant or self-righteous. It is our obligation to reach out in helpfulness, not only to our own but to all others as well". (Gordon B. Hinckley; President and Prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.) I hop we can build bridges of understanding between us instead of contention and disparaging comments. God Bless you.

If you want to know something about another person’s faith or beliefs, ask an active, participating, and somewhat knowledgeable member of that faith. Than to try it on your own. It makes no sense to go to the enemy of another person's faith to find out what they believe. When someone just blurts out false statements about someone else's faith that they think is true it can be damaging to both parties. Below are quote's from a couple of my leader's.
They are deceased, however, there words still echo truth and sound advice. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and I am grateful for the atonement of Jesus Christ in my life.
I am grateful for his mercy and grace. He is my redeemer, because of the garden of Gethsemane and the cross I am able to repent and one day be resurrected as He was. Jesus is my best friend. May we try to build bridges of understanding instead of bridges of contention and disparaging words. May our Heavenly Father bless us all.

We cannot afford to be arrogant or self-righteous. It is our obligation to reach out in helpfulness, not only to our own but to all others as well. (Gordon B. Hinckley; President and Prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.)

President Gordon B. Hinckley has said, “The snide remark, the racial slur, hateful epithets, malicious gossip, and mean and vicious rumor-mongering should have no place among us” (Teachings of Gordon B. Hinckley [1997], 664).

Spencer W. Kimball wrote: “Lies and gossip which harm reputations are scattered about by the four winds like the seeds of a ripe dandelion held aloft by a child. Neither the seeds nor the gossip can ever be gathered in. The degree and extent of the harm done by the gossip is inestimable” (The Miracle of Forgiveness [1969], 54).

Seriously Kerry, get an update on your Mormonism. You are reading the wrong books. I'm not sure the last time that I talked with a person that said Mormons have multiple wives. Oh, I remember, it was a 90 year old guy in 1970 on a bus in Arizona while I was on my mission. He really wanted to see if I had horn stubs, where my horns had been cut off.

In fact because you accused us of having more than one wife, your entire statement is really quite tainted. I've asked you once before to give me the 3 families you keep talking about, but nothing. I have no doubt that there are 300,000 families in the Mormon church that are filthy rich. You want to know the combined taxes they pay? It is a fortune. The entire United States of America is better off financially because of them. Do you want to know the dollar amount of donations they make to the church? Each one pays 10% of their gross income. That's a second fortune. Do want to know the dollar amount of donations they make to other worthy charities. That's a 3rd fortune. A lot of people are blessed because the Lord blesses these families for their hard work ethic and their Christ-centered lives.

So go to a good Mormon and take some notes on today's (2014) Mormonism, then lets talk some more.

So we will count you as agreeing that there was "free will" in the pre-existence.
