It's quite sad when people get caught up in Mormonism and J.Witness etc.

The thing a lot of these have in common, is that they actively persue
people, make them feel wanted, follow them up, welcome people with open arms.

Of course it's all false man made religion. But isn't it sad that they pay more attention to
the needs of people and are more welcoming than Christian churches. It often this attention
that needy people get drawn into.

What does that say about the Christian church.

Mormonism does not just teach that they are the only correct way/belief, but that if not for Joseph Smith, there would be no salvation. In other words, what Jesus did according to Mormons, was insufficient, and in order to be saved, you must accept Joseph Smith as a prophet. This cannot be called a Christian belief in any way shape or form.

Mormonism teaches that each one of us was begotten as spirit children in heaven before being born on earth. This cannot be called a Christian belief in any way shape or form.

Mormonism is not monotheistic. This cannot be called a Christian belief in any way shape or form. How anyone can call Mormonism Christian is puzzling, since they reject core Christian beliefs, and put forward many other beliefs that conflict with and contradict Christianity.

The fact the the Mormons have an extra book, the book of Mormon, testifies that they are not abiding in the truth, but there is something Joseph Smith wanted to believe, and teach, that was not in the Bible.

Ive met quite a few mormons, and discussed with them often in the past, honestly, they are at thier foundation Christians,
Nope. Mormonism isn't Christianity, not even close. Your reasoning that it is are based upon pure subjectivity "We prayed. I read the Bible to them". IOW your reasoning isn't based on Scripture, it's purely subjective. Different Christ. Different God. Different book. (fake books BTW). Different gospel. They are not Christians.

No, the Book of Mormon is not true, followjesus!

Back when I had been a Christian about 2 1/2 years, the Mormons turned up on my doorstep. I had read the Bible through about 2 times by then, been to church a lot, and was trying to walk with God. I told them this and out came the Book of Mormon, which they told me to read, and wait for the "burning in my chest," a subjective experience, if there ever was one.

So I started reading the book, and by three pages, I had found 2 or 3 definite contradictions to the Bible. Now, I was a fairly new Christian, but the errors and contraditions didn't take a theology degree or knowledge of Greek to figure out! I gave the missionaries back their book and told them their book contradicted the Bible, then turned, walked into my house and shut the door behind me.

My suggestion is to get out the Book of Mormon and read a few pages. Make a note of where it contradicts the Bible. Then look up on line with a google search what the Bible says, and jot down the verses and the actual verse. Show that to your brother!

Mormons claim there are no contradictions between the Bible and their fake book. So, a few pages of reading, show him the contradictions. Then, go into theology, if you dare.

Mormanism is a religion of works. Even the sacred underwear gives you brownie points to be a god. That is why they are so nice and helpful, because of the elevated spiritual status, not because it pleases God.

Mormonism is also a religion of pride and arrogance. The whole purpose is to be a god, for their own glory, no matter what they say! No servanthood or humbleness needed for the "elders."

Okay so we grew up Southern Baptist. I moved on to non denominational. Apparently my mom was recently informed that my brother has become a Mormon and she's quite upset about it.
I'm not sure what to think. At least they are not atheist
Hi Dude,

I can understand your mom being upset.
Is being Mormon any better than being atheist?

I don't know why so many are hoodwinked by the "because they are so nice" thing. How is it that satans ministers appear? We live next door to some Mormon's and they are always trying to appear nice. They're sinners and lost just like the rest of mankind outside of Christ, Ephesians 2:3.

BTW, the book of Abraham is also another fake book wrought by Joseph Smith. This is well documented, yet he deceived many with that as well.

Hi Matt,

They have 3. The Pearl of Great Price, The Book of Mormon and another one, but can't recall the name. Something to do with their doctrines I believe.

The Book of Mormon has some error (which could probably deceive a believe that doesn't know the bible well yet), but get into the other books and you can't come away saying that we believe the same things.

***Doctrines and Covenants***put the Bible as your one and only book; to get into Mormonism is a false trail...

They say each member of the trinity is their own separate god and that you can become a god yourself and that God was once a man just as you are (not in reference to Jesus Christ) and that God is made of flesh and bone still, just as you are, and that Jesus was created through God having physical sexual intercourse with Mary... they believe in a infinite regression of gods, that each god created a new god. Gosh, their heresies are endless LOL :p

Hi Miri,

I hear and understand what your saying here. :) But let's look closer.

The true Church is on the move. It's reaching out and saving lost souls. Do the Mormons die for their faith? I don't know enough about them to say one way or the other. But I can say Christians are dying all over the world for their faith because they're obedient to the scriptures that tell us to go into all the world preaching the gospel.

Someone like Kayla and her family went all over preaching Jesus through their gift of singing. And many other groups have done the same. We have missionary groups that go to other countries to minister the gospel.

There's Voice of the Matyrs, Open doors, The Gideon's, Water for Africa, Gospel for Asia, Bridges For Peace etc.

There are so many ministries we've never even heard about. To make that comment is an insult to those who do get out there in the trenches. And I know you don't mean it that way, so please don't think that I'm picking on you, we can all get caught up in saying something because everyone else says it and we don't consider if it's true or not, we just parrot it because someone we know and trust has also said it. I've said the same thing as well about how the Mormons put us to shame, without considering if it's true or not.

We hear so many times, "where's the church" or "bad things happen when good people do nothing" (as if the church isn't doing anything) and others phrases similar to that. It's very seldom we here what the Church IS doing as if it's dead and buried.

The Church is on the move and the gates of hell will not prevail against her. If we're not doing what we're called to, we need to join in to what God has called us to do. So if we're not doing anything to promote the gospel of the Kingdom, we need to repent and do our part.

The Mormons are doing what they do for false motives. Sure they're good people as opposed to a murderer or some kind of criminal, but that's what Satan does, He poses as an angel of light.

So he is drawing people towards himself, the god of this world. The outward show is all white wash. Inside it's full of dead men's bones. It brings death to all who enter into his lies.

Its true what you say. There is more to church than mission work though
and I'm not sure the Christian church understands that. There is too much leading people
to Christ then leaving babes in Christ to get just get on with it.

Tnere is a lot to be said for continuing discipleship and real heart warming care and
fellowship.

Never talked to a morman but have talked to JWs (Jehovah's Witnesses) and they have very similar beliefs. When ever I have asked JWs questions they always tell me to go to their website instead of the word of God. Off the bat that should send red flags when they are steering you away from God's word, Satan is behind that.

They hate being asked questions and generally don't have answers to deeper Bible matters and contradictions in there own text.

This is why we should always pray that God would test our hearts to know we are in the faith. It's going to be the ones who were so certain but never asked God how to understand His word who get it wrong in the end. Prayer life should consist of regularly asking God to help us to understand His word.

The people trapped in theses cults should be told the truth in love and seriously prayed for.

There is a lot of backlash against the church, and some of it comes from Christians themselves who slander those who expose the lies of other religious systems, calling people who do so "hateful" and acting as if telling the truth about anti-Christian cults translates to a desire to prevent the spread of the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The world will never really accept those of the true church, because we are called out of the world. The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.

Yes, amen! I so agree with that, we're weak in discipling. But then again, lots of opportunities are offered to the church, but no one shows up. So I see it both ways. :)

We're definitely weak in discipling the believers, sometimes just counting numbers. I also think we're way too organized and have too many committees and stuff that we forget about those that need to grow and those who need to be nurtured in the word.

The organized church can be a detriment to growth. There's definitely things that needs changing, no doubt about that! Thanks for sharing your views. We all don't see what others do. That's whats so great about having a body of Christ, each part doing its part. :)

You are right. I know two who I have kept up with (Who are Jehovah's Witnesses) and they are very sweet people but very mislead. Everytime I have showed them a contradiction in their literature comparing it to God's word they shrug it off.
