What was the rest about? ive never ever even understood why there ever has been this debate.

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Why does the new testament talk of keeping all nine commandments but never mentions keeping the sabbath?
Maybe that is answered in the only place I can find:

Colossians 2:16 and 17
(16) Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day.
(17) These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.

The 7th day sabbath was given before sin entered into the world and therefore it is not a type, the ceremonial sabbaths came in after sin and are types.

You might need to rethink that one.
Especially saying its not a type. Since God
needs no rest.

Think: the Lambs book of life written before
the foundation of the world.

I just like to throw up scripture. And a comment
This particular topic has at least two exhortations
that tell us not to try to change someones
conviction.

Acts 13:14
(14) But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down.
Acts 13:42
(42) And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.
Acts 13:44
(44) And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.
Acts 16:13
(13) And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the women which resorted thither.
Acts 17:2
(2) And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,
Acts 18:4
(4) And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.

These texts prove that the early church kept the sabbath. The early church did not keep Sunday as the sabbath, they did not change the day of worship. The sabbath was changed by the Papacy as Avinu has showed.

1Thus saith the LORD, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed.
2Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.

3Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself to the LORD, speak, saying, The LORD hath utterly separated me from his people: neither let the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree.

4For thus saith the LORD unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant;

5Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off.

6Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant;

7Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.

8The Lord GOD which gathereth the outcasts of Israel saith, Yet will I gather others to him, beside those that are gathered unto him.

Oh the Bible is bringing forth its truths

Glory to Almighty Yahvah God and Yahshua the Messiah.

Here's my questions to those trying to find a way to claim Acts 20:7 as the first day of the week being a change in Sabbath.

1) Everytime Yeshua, disciples etc. did anything on the Sabbath day, scripture said it was the Sabbath day. Acts 20:7 doesn't say what so ever that this was the new day of sabbath nor does it refer to it as a sabbath. ministering is a 24/7 job.

2)Regardless of what Paul and the others were doing, discussing or otherwise has absolutely NOTHING to do with the commandment of keeping the ordained, hallowed 7th day Sabbath. Nor does it speak as such.

What needs to be done, is those continuing to find someway to change or make a justification for calling sunday the sabbath.
For even if sunday was Sabbath, you're not keeping it the way YHVH commanded it to be kept. It is HIS day, He specifically said to keep it, and to keep it HOLY.

Out of all the ten commandments, this is what YHVH said to us.

1) Thou shalt not...
2) Thou shalt not...
3) Thou shalt not...
4) REMEMBER...
5) Honor...
6-10) Thou shalt not...

Out of all the Ten Commandments, one specific YHVH said to REMEMBER!!! Remember the Sabbath Day and KEEP IT HOLY! PERIOD!

Why do people struggle so much with just being obedient to YHVH about the Sabbath? Ask yourself, do YOU even know why you buck this?

Colossians 2:16 and 17
(16) Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day.
(17) These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.

Those who try to use these verses as a way out of keeping the Sabbath. You're taking it out of context. It's is saying DON'T let anyone judge you because you keep these. YHVH DOES NOT CHANGE, HIS WORD HAS NOT CHANGED, HE DOES NOT NOR WILL NOT GO AGAINST HIS OWN WORD, QUIT TRYING TO MAKE EXCUSES, AND QUIT TRYING TO CHANGE YHVH'S WORD. (caps added for emphasis)

The 4th Commandment of YHVH was written with His finger, do you honestly believe He is going to throw it out or change it?
Instead of looking for a way to not have to obey something, why don't you try to be obedient instead, and watch how much YHVH blesses you for it.

Isa 58:13 If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:

Isa 58:14 Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

Shalom

That is true, there were Pharisees within the church who were teaching salvation by works, by keeping the law of Moses.
Actually it's worse then that. The pharisees didn't even go by the laws of Moses, even though they said the mishna was the oral law of Moses. But that wasn't true, as we know Moses wouldn't have added to Yah's word. But the sages after moses died are the ones who created these so called "oral laws" Basically they did the same as you have hear. Pharisees in the church who change Yah's word and add their own.

What the Papacy has done with changing the sabbath to sunday is taken a common day and made it holy and taken a holy day and made it common. Nadab and Abihu Aaron's sons offered common fire in the sanctuary and were struck dead.

we keep the Sabbath as Jesus kept it....by doing God's will no matter what day it is.

Mark 2:27
And He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.

The Bible is clear about what is and isn't allowed and how people have twisted the OT in Jesus time. People have not changed and continue to twist scripture but praise GOD that He has sent His son to reveal the truth.

8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

If you kept the Sabbath according the understanding of the OT then you would not travel, gather food, heal and many more things Pharisees accused Jesus of doing and breaking the Sabbath according to their understanding of it.
Just as the divorce laws were added for people's hardheartedness. so too are many of the laws concerning the Sabbath added to convict those who do not follow God in Spirit and Truth

John 5
7 The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”

8 Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” 9 And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked.

And that day was the Sabbath. 10 The Jews therefore said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed.”

11 He answered them, “He who made me well said to me, ‘Take up your bed and walk.’”

12 Then they asked him, “Who is the Man who said to you, ‘Take up your bed and walk’?” 13 But the one who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a multitude being in that place. 14 Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.”

15 The man departed and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.

16 For this reason the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to kill Him,[c] because He had done these things on the Sabbath. 17 But Jesus answered them, “My Father has been working until now, and I have been working.”

Isaiah 1:13
Bring no more futile sacrifices; Incense is an abomination to Me. The New Moons, the Sabbaths, and the calling of assemblies— I cannot endure iniquity and the sacred meeting.

If you think Yahshua the Messiah healing the sick on the Sabbath, can compare to working for gains then you have missed what he was teaching.

He is son of Yahvah God our Messiah, he can heal the sick on the Sabbath. Who can consider this unlawful?

Only those that added their own commandments to the Sabbath would of considered they had authority to accuse Yahshua the Messiah.

Yahshua the Messiah had authority from the most High Yahvah God.

He in no way taught that people should not rest on the Sabbath..

He was bringing attention to the Pharisees idea of how the Sabbath be kept, was not how Yahvah God had commanded.

You can bet this had oral law all over it.......

We do Yahvah God's will every day yes, but that does not make void the Sabbath.

We keep the Sabbath how Yahvah God commanded.

Doing Yahvah God's will is keeping the Sabbath Holy while ceasing from work.

no not really some of the things they objected to are in the OT.

for example picking up fire wood on the Sabbath.there is an example of a man being stoned to death because he did it. that is why they objected to the man carrying his bed.

Or the teachings about eunuchs not being fit to be priest or not touching lepers because it made you unclean. that is all found in the OT.

Or gathering food which Jesus disciples did on the Sabbath and the Pharisees forbid to do based on the misunderstanding of the Exodus scriptures with the manna and commandment from God not to gather manna on the Sabbath day.

If people understood this passage they would understand that the KINGDOM of God is WITHIN and a SPIRITUAL kingdom and stop trying to create and worship a shadow instead of resting in Christ.

Hebrews 4
4 Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. 2 For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them,[a] not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. 3 For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said:

“So I swore in My wrath,
‘They shall not enter My rest,’”
although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. 4 For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works”; [c] 5 and again in this place: “They shall not enter My rest.”[d]

6 Since therefore it remains that some must enter it, and those to whom it was first preached did not enter because of disobedience, 7 again He designates a certain day, saying in David, “Today,” after such a long time, as it has been said:

“Today, if you will hear His voice,
Do not harden your hearts.”[e]
8 For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day. 9 There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. 10 For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.

11 Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience. 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

You should never work for "gains" but always live your life as a living sacrifice unto the Lord. Do your works to GOD and not men or whatever trinkets they may give you. I do not compare Jesus healing the sick to working for gains but to doing the good works God has ordain His children to do beforehand.

Ephesians 2:10
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

We never cease from doing God's will no matter what day it is. His will is not some rigid set of rules but His holy Spirit guides those who walk with Him and in those good works He has entrusted to us. No matter what the world says or what day it is.

Material wealth is nothing of importance, praises of men are fickle, health is a gift from God. None of those things matter. the only thing is to do what God commands for your life and do the good works HE has entrusted for you to do.

1 Corinthians 6:12
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

The man was collecting sticks which was part of his work.

He could of collected it before or after, but did not obey the Command not to work, that is why he was stoned.

work is not a bad thing.

If you are a shepherd caring for your flock is your work and gets done on the Sabbath day just like all the others. True Sabbath Rest is in Christ. if you don't know what that means and want to follow the shadows instead of the Spirit then that is your choice but do not condemn others for listening to God and not your man made doctrines.

How have I condemned anyone?

I quoted the Sabbath Commandment written in stone by Yahvah God.

Your verse below is your own....

we keep the Sabbath as Jesus kept it....by doing God's will no matter what day it is.

How are you listening to Yahvah God?

Man made doctrines?

No, you are making things up to suit how you want to keep the Sabbath, not how it is expected to be kept by the Most High Almighty Yahvah God.
