I agree with this as well........it is so simple that is why it requires child like faith......the simplicity that is found in Jesus......
Believe in Jesus=Saved
If you believe in your heart (mind) that God has raised him from the dead thou shalt be saved.
It pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
How simple is that...clear cut for sure
I am not sure why OSAS argue with those who teach faith plus works. According to your post, DC, once they believe (faith in Jesus) they are positionally "saved" spiritually. So if they also believe works are needed, does that erase their salvation. They do believe in Jesus. Correct me if I am wrong but you seem to be saying they are not saved even though they believe in Jesus, or they ARe saved but lose their salvation because they add works. So, a false belief can cause you to lose your salvation but no manner of evil works done in the flesh can?
1Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved.
2For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge.
3Since they did not know the righteousness of God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness.
4Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.
5Moses writes this about the righteousness that is by the law: “The person who does these things will live by them.”[SUP]
a[/SUP]
6But the righteousness that is by faith says: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ ”[SUP]
b[/SUP] (that is, to bring Christ down)
7“or ‘Who will descend into the deep?’ ”[SUP]
c[/SUP] (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).
8But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,”[SUP]
d[/SUP] that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim:
9If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
11As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”[SUP]
e[/SUP]
12For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,
13for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
I would like to know what you define as a "work". Is confessing with the mouth that Jesus is Lord a work. Is believing a work? Is obedience (If you love me, keep my commands.
16And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—
17
the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be[SUP]
c[/SUP] in you.) a work. Is faith without works even a faith that can save? Not if you believe James. (
14What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them?
15Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food.
16If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?
17In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
18But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”
Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.
19You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.
20You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless[SUP]
d[/SUP] ?
21Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar?
22You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did.
23And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,”[SUP]
e[/SUP] and he was called God’s friend.
24You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.
25In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction?
26As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead
). The only time in the Scripture "faith alone" is mentioned when it specifically says NOT by faith alone.
