Love Your Enemies

27“But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. 29To one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from one who takes away your cloak do not withhold your tunicb either. 30Give to everyone who begs from you, and from one who takes away your goods do not demand them back. 31And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.

32“If you love those who love you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. 33And if you do good to those who do good to you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. 34And if you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to get back the same amount. 35But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil. 36Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.

Judging Others

37“Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven; 38give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”

39He also told them a parable: “Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit? 40A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher. 41Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 42How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother’s eye.

A Tree and Its Fruit

43“For no good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit, 44for each tree is known by its own fruit. For figs are not gathered from thornbushes, nor are grapes picked from a bramble bush. 45The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

Build Your House on the Rock

46“Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you? 47Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: 48he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.c 49But the one who hears and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the stream broke against it, immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.”

Ah...and what are the things we do not do that He said? Store treasure on earth? Hold unforgiveness and bitterness and anger in our heart? Defend ourselves? Worry over provision/the state of the economy/our 401k tanking? Are those a few examples of calling Him Lord but not doing the things He says? And so, what do we call someone who professes to follow but does not follow? Do we say they are a hypocrite who commends trusting in God to us but does not do what they teach others to do?

context to words spoken are different to words that you read.

folowing history of the bible ,would lead to christian belief system, if jesus was working,to free the jewish , under a jewish beleif system,
why did he make the christain belief system. why are you not trusting, in the christain belief system. first work out, what belief system you work under.

John 15:22-24 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be GUILTY OF SIN. Now, however, they have NO EXCUSE FOR THEIR SIN. He who HATES me hates my Father as well. If I had not done among them what no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. But now they have seen these miracles, and yet they have hated both me and my Father.

WHO HATED THE SON AND THE FATHER.

John 14:15 “if you love me, you will obey what I command.

John 14:21,23-24 Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.” Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.

HE WHO DISOBEYS JESUS/GOD HATES GOD AND IS GUILTY OF SIN AND HAVE NO EXCUSE FOR IT...

Romans 8:7 the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.

HE CANNOT OBEY GOD’S COMMANDS BECAUSE HE DOES NOT SUBMIT TO IT.

HE WILL REJECT THE TRUTH FOR THE SAKE OF HIS OWN INTEREST WHERE THE MOST PREVALENT REASON IS GREED, BEING SELF-CENTERED AND SELFISH.

THE BIBLE SPEAKS A LOT ABOUT THIS AND IT’S CONSEQUENCES IN THE FF;

Luke 12:15-21 Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against ALL KINDS OF GREED; a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man produced a good crop. He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’ “Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’ “But God said to him, ‘YOU FOOL! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’ “This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is NOT RICH TOWARD GOD.”

Matthew 6:19-24 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness! “No one can serve two masters. Either he will HATE the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. YOU CANNOT SERVE BOTH GOD AND MONEY

1 Timothy 6:6-10 But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have WANDERED FROM THE FAITH and pierced themselves with many griefs.

James 5:1-5 Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming upon you. Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. Look! The wages you failed to pay the workmen who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter.

1 Timothy 6:17-19 Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.

Acts 4:31-37 After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And THEY WERE ALL FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT and spoke the word of God boldly. The Believers Share Their Possessions All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they SHARED EVERYTHING THEY HAD. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much GRACE was upon them all. There were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned lands or houses SOLD THEM, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone as he had need. Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas (which means Son of Encouragement), sold a field he owned and brought the money and put it at the apostles’ feet.

Acts 5:1-11 Now a man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of property. With his wife’s full knowledge he kept back part of the money for himself, but brought the rest and put it at the apostles’ feet. Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied to men but to God.” When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard what had happened. Then the young men came forward, wrapped up his body, and carried him out and buried him. About three hours later his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. Peter asked her, “Tell me, is this the price you and Ananias got for the land?” “Yes,” she said, “that is the price.” Peter said to her, “How could you agree to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look! The feet of the men who buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out also.” At that moment she fell down at his feet and died. Then the young men came in and, finding her dead, carried her out and buried her beside her husband. Great fear seized the whole church and all who heard about these events.

THE HOLY SPIRIT THAT THESE BELIEVERS RECEIVED, EMPOWERED THEM TO DO IN ACCORDANCE TO THE TRUTH OF THE SCRIPTURE AND HAVING ONE MIND AND SPIRIT AGREED TO SELL THEIR POSSESSIONS AND SHARE WHATEVER THEY HAVE TO EVERYONE.

ARE WE REALLY SONS OF GOD? DID WE RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT THROUGH OUR FAITH?(gal 3:14)

SHOULD WE THEN IGNORE OR REJECT THE WORD, THE TEACHINGS AND COMMANDS OF JESUS/GOD?

John 6:63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.(Ref john 1:1-3 &14)

Matthew 19:16-26 Now a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, WHAT GOOD THING MUST I DO TO GET ETERNAL LIFE?” “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. IF YOU WANT TO ENTER LIFE, OBEY THE COMMANDMENTS.” “Which ones?” the man inquired. Jesus replied, “‘Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother,’ and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’” “All these I have kept,” the young man said. “What do I still lack?” Jesus answered, “IF YOU WANT TO BE PERFECT, GO, SELL YOUR POSSESSIONS AND GIVE TO THE POOR, and you will have TREASURE IN HEAVEN. Then come, follow me.” When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth. Then Jesus said to his disciples, “I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “WHO THEN CAN BE SAVED?” Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE.”

John 6:66-67 From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him. “YOU DO NOT WANT TO LEAVE TOO, DO YOU?” Jesus asked the Twelve

Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, he must DENY HIMSELF and take up his cross and follow me.

John 12:46-50 I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness. “As for the person who hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge him. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save it. There is a judge for the one who REJECTS ME AND DOES NOT ACCEPT MY WORDS; that very word which I spoke WILL CONDEMN HIM AT THE LAST DAY. For I did not speak of my own accord, but the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and how to say it. I KNOW THAT HIS COMMAND LEADS TO ETERNAL LIFE. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say.”

John 8:47 He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.”

building your house on a jewish belief system, or a christain belief system.

Jesus give specific Example what He want us to do, that count oN judgement day

Matt 25

34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, inasmuch AS ye have done It unto one of the least of these my brethren ye have done It unto me.

Did I SAY FAITH IS A WORK?

PLEASE show me where I said that?

You and Dcon and EG make up things about people.
WHY do you do this?

Does it make you feel Greater than them?
Are you afraid of what they say so you make believe you don't hear it?
Do you resent that they sound right and you don't and now you don't know what to do about it?
...so you say lies about them?

WHY???

Are we supposed to behave better than the rest of the world or are we supposed to act just like it?
Jesus died so we could act just like those that aren't even Christian??
1Th 1:3 Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father.

2Th 1:11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power.

It seems like faith would not be a work, but then everything we do is a work, whether we think,or do it.

When we have faith it is a work to believe that, and when we confess Christ it is a work to do that, and even to go to Church it is a work to do that, read the Bible a work to do that, everything we do is a work if we think it,or do it.

When Paul says not saved by works,an outward appearance of works that are not of the Spirit, but faith appears to be a work,as well as believing, and confessing Christ, but not of the outward physical kind, which that work counts when we confess Christ, for whether we think it,or do it,it is still a work.

Which a good example is if you lust after a woman in your thinking, heart,it is the same as if you did the actual deed,so the lust of the heart is a work equal to the work of doing the actual sin.

Which I am siding with you,but making it better that they do not realize that it appears as if faith is considered a work,so then they would have to admit that they are not saved by faith because it is a work, but then they would be in an upheaval.

The Bible says the work of faith, but I am sure there will be a board meeting of the upmost importance, and they will brainstorm on how to justify how it can say work of faith, but not actually be a work, and their ringleader will head up the meeting, the master at justifying everything to fit their beliefs, boldly twisting scriptures where no man has twisted before, and I am sure they will have some kind of solution to the situation.

Was they not taught as a child that the square peg does not go in the round hole, but they probably could not understand, and was biting on it,chewing on it,stomping on it,hammering on it,and got it in one tenth of the way,and said,it fits.

I am being sarcastic, and that comes from the flesh, which that can happen after people are on Christian Chat for awhile, for they get short with people, and want to be sarcastic, maybe belittle, and post according to the flesh somewhat.

It would be nice to do a study of people that frequently post on BDF,and have done so for about 2 years, maybe 1 year, and look at their first posts compared to now,and you will see the transformation happen from post to post as time went on.

Most likely if they are on BDF a lot, mostly, you will see the change as the opposition, and people going against them, causes them to think, can't you get it through your thick skull, and they start getting short with people, and agitated, and posting according to the flesh, where when they first got on the BDF they were not like that.

They will escape that in the other forums, but the BDF will claim victim after victim, that fall to posting according to the flesh at times, because of all the opposition, and rarely does anybody change when it is an important doctrine that they think is important, making people even more short, and agitated at them, for they will say they are stubborn, and they cannot see the truth, and are deceived, and have a devil.

It would be funny to pull the posts from the main people who deal with the BDF for a number of years, and see the transformation unfold right before your eyes, from the first innocent post to the most recent one.

The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.”
after quoting all that scripture you fail to prove , how you got, saved from this condemning law, .with your interpretation of scripture, you only prove one thing, the scripture you posted here, from the bible,is much the same wording that is in my bible.

It would be funny to pull the posts from the main people who deal with the BDF for a number of years, and see the transformation unfold right before your eyes, from the first innocent post to the most recent one.
do you want to, authenticate or debunk ,what i said in your last post.

if your own judgement condemns you. how would you know. (food for though)

this is why no one can discuss on cc, everyone thinks people who teach grace are helping D.C. Or EG or aGrace777

Th thought tha peoplcan not think on their own is f Reign t them.

So posting scripture is not acceptable,

Fan I hav come to the conclusion you are not hear to try to convince people of anything, or to discuss the word of god, but to argue.

I second that conclusion.....and boast of her superior intelligence and knowledge.....cough cough

Believe and OBEY don't come from the same Greek word..

Perhaps it would help if you could tell us which Greek word you mean and the associated Bible verses?.

Strong's Greek: 5218. ὑπακοή (hupakoé) -- obedience

5218. hupakoé ►
Strong's Concordance
hupakoé: obedience
Original Word: ὑπακοή, ῆς, ἡ
Part of Speech: Noun, Feminine
Transliteration: hupakoé
Phonetic Spelling: (hoop-ak-o-ay')
Short Definition: obedience
Definition: obedience, submissiveness, compliance.

Greek Concordance: πιστεύων (pisteuōn) -- 24 Occurrences
In a place it says "the obedience of faith."
To me, this is to say faith is an obedience.
I agree with you and fran that faith is not a "work" in the way some people use the word "work". To link continuing in faith/abiding to works of the flesh is perplexing to me. It appears to me like sometimes some people are saying continuing in faith is not necessary, but so much of what our Lord said goes against that thought.

I can't understand the thought that having trust/faith is simply believing you will live forever but that believing everything else He said is not necessary.

40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, inasmuch AS ye have done It unto one of the least of these my brethren ye have done It unto me.
your posting a post, on a forum.

this is a parable spoken to the crowd that gathered to hear jesus.

you can't reply to why all who have faith will work. and for that reason works are not required. but are a byproduct (fruit) of faith?

I wonder why? Its not that difficult.
Simple....it destroys a works based or kept salvation....a product if false religion I might add......

SO you can't prove it, then why did you say it?

I did look it up

the greek word for faith is
pistis, which means conviction of the truth, belief, and assurance of the truth. Trust, (as apposed to mere belief or mental assent)

Obedience comes from the greek word Hypakoe, which means to listen, to harken, to give ear, to make answer when called, to attend to, to answer a knock on the door. to Obey.
We all know how the workers for reject verb tense, context, verbiage and the simple truth that It pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save those that believe.....the simplicity that is found in Christ....amen...rest sure in faith becaise it and it alone is what saves a man......to embellish with works to obtain or keep = false gospel with no power!

if you cannot back,up your stand from scriptrue, then you cannot conclude anything.

yet authenticate or debunk, dose not mean much , if you already have been proven wrong, in your interpretation ,
yet you continue anyway. yet slander and have baked truth, is about the gist, of what your left with and can only post. who s fault is it ,if you have been proven wrong, with your interpretation.

lol.. No Fran, Works are not required to show that I have faith, that puts the emphasis on man not God.

if I have faith I will work..

Saying works are required is like saying if you want a paycheck you better work, because you need to earn your wage.

Salvation is not a wage, it is a gift, Works are not required to earn a gift, it is freely given.

Amen.....works or grace, but not both......
