I stand amazed at those who think they can embellish the message of Christ with works and still believe it is a gospel that saves or has power to save....the bible totally contradicts this line of thought.......there is but one correct message that can save and if one goes into that message ADDING or SUBTRACTING from it they void the message of power.....

If your faith is in your performance (works) it is not in God., period.
Faith means assurance or a complete trust. If you do not trust the cross enough and fell you have to add works to grace. Your have no assurance at all. This you have no faith.
If you want to try to earn salvation as a reward. Good luck, you will be with the pharisees, and religious Jews, who also tried to get to heaven that way.

Another thing that blows my mind....how one can honestly believe that works save or help save.......the bible does not contradict itself and when a verse like the bolded following states what it states.....to then say another verse is implying that works save, keep save or help save ultimately leaves we have a MAJOR contradiction.... the underlined second verse must be taken at face value in light of the first verse.

If anyone has confessed Jesus Christ as Lord and believed in his heart that God raised him from the dead, they shall be saved, whether they believe works are required or not.
Salvation is not a reward. Salvation is a gift, given when a person believes on Jesus Christ. I believe salvation is by faith alone, and that the Christian new birth is an event that happens one time in a person's life, and it cannot be lost.
I believe that is true even for those who believe that they must also do good works to maintain their salvation.
Unlike you, and apparently some others, I'm not going to automatically judge someone as unsaved if they happen to believe works are required to maintain their salvation.

2 Timothy 2:14-19 A Workman Approved by God Keep reminding them of these things. Warn them before God against quarreling about words; it is of no value, and only ruins those who listen. THE SECOND PHASE IS THE WORKING OUT OF THAT SALVATION AND REMAINING/CONTINUING IN THE FAITH TO THE END THROUGH OBEDIENCE TO GOD’S WILL AND COMMANDMENTS, DOING GOOD WORKS. WALKING AS JESUS DID AND BEING A PART OF THE BODY OF CHRIST WHO DOES THE WORKS BEING LED BY THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST WHO IS THE HEAD.
Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, HIS BODY OF WHICH HE IS THE SAVIOR.

The three false phase worker for sinless perfectionist is still posting drivel I see.....there is but one phase of salvation...it is called faith.....add to it...= a false gospel with no power to save....do not believe the 3 phase café blend drivel posted in post 44694.......salvation is a one off event with eternal results....nothing but a works based false gospel of a different kind found in the post above this one.....
Here is Paul complaining about his inability to live a sinless life. I like to keep things in context so here is Romans 7. I highlighted the pertinent verses.

1 Do you not know, brothers and sisters—for I am speaking to those who know the law—that the law has authority over someone only as long as that person lives? 2 For example, by law a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive, but if her husband dies, she is released from the law that binds her to him. 3 So then, if she has sexual relations with another man while her husband is still alive, she is called an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is released from that law and is not an adulteress if she marries another man.

The Law and Sin
7 What shall we say, then? Is the law sinful? Certainly not! Nevertheless, I would not have known what sin was had it not been for the law. So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.

The Law and Sin
7 What shall we say, then? Is the law sinful? Certainly not! Nevertheless, I would not have known what sin was had it not been for the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.” 8 But sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, produced in me every kind of coveting. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. 24 What a wretched man I am! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.
We are all sinners and accept the blood of Christ to save us. We still have sin living in us and our works are as dirty rags to God because of this sin. Only the blood of Christ makes us righteous in God's eyes. Without the sacrifice of the Lamb of God we are doomed. God provided us with the way to remove the penalty of the law for our transgressions. We deserve the worst but God gave us a way to avoid the penalty. Thank you Jesus!!!
