Did God warn us about the deception? If He did, then why resist them?

So who would say now that OBEDIENCE TO GOD HAS NO BEARING IN SALVATION?
"Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on Him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness." (Romans 4:4-5)

Paul tells us that a person who works for something is entitled to receive compensation for what he does. He makes the contrast between works and grace to explain that the free gift of salvation is not something that can be earned but something that must be received by faith. It is only then that the believer's faith is counted for righteousness. It is only then that the gift of righteousness needed to become acceptable in God's sight is credited to the believer's account as a free gift. Those who try to work for it will not receive it.

Just as salvation cannot be earned by works, it cannot be kept by works. Paul explained it this way to the Galatian believers: "Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?" (Galatians 3:3).

Salvation is received by faith and is kept by faith. But whose faith is it kept by?

It is kept by the faith of Jesus.

"Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the Law; for by the works of the Law shall no flesh be justified." (Galatians 2:16)

His faith is a reference to His faithfulness to the Father in living a life without sin and fulfilling God's demands of a holy life. His faithfulness is credited to our account, as well as His death on the cross, as complete payment for our sins. When God looks at believers, He sees them as in Christ. This means they are not only forgiven because of Christ's sacrificial death but are declared righteous because of His obedient life.

Christians will go to heaven when they die no matter what work or lack of work accompanies their faith. The destiny of believers is not threatened by their acts of sin - as we all sin - every single day - and will continue to sin until we die. Our salvation is assured because Jesus is our surety (Hebrews 7:22-25). He supplies what is needed when we default because He remains faithful to His promises, even when we are faithless (2 Timothy 2:11).

Those who push a "you must do good works to remain saved" theology are more often than not, motivated by fear. If they believe there is something they can do or not do to nullify their salvation, they will tend to focus their attention on their obedience, instead of Christ's finished work on the cross.

Our motivation should stem from gratefulness that the finished work of Jesus sets us free from the fear of losing our salvation, so that we can be the person God created us to be. In order to grow in the Christian life, the believer's eternal security must be a settled issue. - Robert Metevia

Amen.....exactly why God states that principle numerous times....

He that believes on the son is having everlasting life.

It pleased God by the foolishness of prraching to save them/those that believe.

If you believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead and confess with your mouth you will be saved.

Very interesting. I struggle with this a lot. Infact today i was reading Matthew 5 in the morning.

The point the Lord was making is that if you trust your good works/Law keeping to save or keep you saved, you must be as perfect as God at all times to achieve either goal.

You came to reveal the heart of the Father.

Our hope and future is based on what you have done.

We are not left as orphans.
You sent us the Holy Spirit.

You are love.
May we be the same.

I personally think the EDIT TIME LIMIT, is dis·crim·i·na·to·ry to us SENIOR CITIZENS.

But my GUESS is they will NOT realize it until they actually reach our age.

I will turn 70 at my birthday in February.

My short term memory has already gone bye, bye.

My spelling has already gone downhill.

My attentions span, is much slower that before.

My length of time for each Post has GREATLY INCREASED.

My Proof Reading is such that I read what I think I typed, only to discover during the 5 minute Scramble numerous typos.

AND on top of it all, I have discovered that my Brain does not do SCRAMBLE any more.

Hi VCO, I'm approaching my 70th birthday as well and find that my short term memory is fading. I take a daily dose of prayer, "pray without ceasing", 1Thess5:17, to our Father plus; the doctor say's that along side of a well balanced diet and 1 cup of coffee a day it would be beneficial health wise to add a daily multi-vitamin; vitamin B-12 complex plus Iron, seems to improve red and white blood cell counts; always add Calcium/D3 and omega 3 fish oil, to my daily nutrition for me, not everybody.

I turn 65 in April. Thiamine, Folic acid and Fish several times a week has done wonders.

I am also teaching myself how to use computers again as I was taught Basic and MSDOS. I also have to learn to slow down and be less reactionary and not to post in a hurry. Mistakes still escape me but the reason is because I can easily read what I intended to post as opposed to what I actually typed out.

The bible is clear.....if we want to enter into HIS REST we must cease from our own labor.......we cannot work long enough, nor hard enough to enter into that which requires simple faith....

He that believes in the Son is having everlasting life!
