Ah. So you're also a believer of eternal salvation.
A very UNBIBLICAL concept.
No wonder you feel like you don't have to do anything at all and all the work is already done for you.

No wonder you criticize everyone who does not agree with you.
You feel like there might be danger and you fight the feeling all the way.

You should listen to your consciense.
Jesus and all the Writers require works...

And if you understood what sanctification is, you would not have made the comments above as to whether I believe in works
for attaining OR keeping salvation. You would know the answer.

You could still try:

Are we required to do good works?
Yes or No.
No, actually it is a very biblical concept....verb tense, context and the word teaches it....regardless of your ability to get past the numerous false religions that have blinded you to the truth Fran.....

Hi Fran,

I really understand your heart. I thought the same thing when I was younger in the Lord. I would never have been able to explain anything, much less what happens to those who don't know about Jesus and haven't heard the Gospel. And actually the scripture you posted is what answered my questions and gave me peace to trust God. And also some wise older believers. :)

Romans 1:16-25

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “ But the righteous man shall live by faith.”

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.

For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.

Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

When we read in context, it makes more sense. :)

God gave mankind the knowledge that He's God in our inner man and we see God in His creation. God says man is without excuse. There are many who haven't heard of Jesus and God will reveal Himself to them. If a man is truly seeking, he will find God. Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

We can trust God and leave those in his hands because He says we will know Him. We all, when we die will have had a visitation from God. If I had said no to His calling, I would end up in hell, but I would have had a visitation, meaning that God reveals who He is to all who want to know Him.

Before I knew the Lord, I would say things like, "there must be a God." And that's from a genuine heathen. :) As I look back, I see times where God was revealing Himself to me. I believe He does that with everyone.

Who can look up at the sky with it's beautiful lights shining down upon us and who can look at the sunset and not see God. Who can see all the color of flowers and birds, trees and shrubs and the ocean and the fish and the mountains and I could go on and on, but I can trust that in the end, God is a just God and when mankind goes before the Lord without knowing Jesus, He will tell them they did know Him, but they rejected Him.

God is faithful and if you're seeking the one and only God of the universe, the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob, He will introduce you to Jesus. The man of faith will find the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior.
I agree with you Desertrose.
There are those from Romans 1 who will believe in God and be saved and there are those in Romans 1 who either do not believe in a God, or don't even acknowledge Him, and they will be lost BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO EXCUSE.

I just go a little farther and say that Jesus is God, right? So if someone who has never heard of Jesus but still believes in God, doesn't he also believe in Jesus? Is not the Trinity ONE GOD?

God doesn't toss His adopted Children in the Street?

Have you read Mathew 22:1-14?

Anyway, I'd say that once one is born again, God does not toss Him our, but one could certainly decide to be tossed out.
11“But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man who had no wedding garment. 12And he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless. 13Then the king said to the attendants, ‘Bind him hand and foot and cast him into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ 14For many are called, but few are chosen.”

***

Yes clothes in filthy rags of your own righteousness instead of Christ blood and His white robes will get you tossed out of the wedding feast.

I don't understand.
Do YOU know something none of us here know?

What numerous false religions are you spseaking of?

Do you know more than those who knew Apostles or the next generation?

You could believe what you want to believe.
BUT instead of insulting people and telling them they don't know anything, why not post some scripture that could be discussed?

Are you here to divide the brethren or to discuss the study of God?

This whole post reeks of ignorance...faith saves...end of story....Paul speaks to those who blend faith and works....calls them fools and bewitched.......and no matter how much you twist it, embellish it and or push your working for dogma it will not get you 1 inch closer to God's kingdom.....I forsee you in the plenteous in number group based upon your false gospel Fran....I suggest faith into what Christ has done and not in what you can do!

So God does toss people out. You said He didn't.
So we have to be wearing the right garment.
That garment is Jesus.
So, if we're ARE wearing Jesus (present tense) we can be safe and secure.

So what are we here arguing about?????

Actually, quite a few people understand faith, grace and the eternal salvation, justification, sealing and sanctification found in Jesus....you should open your eyes Fran to the truth....works or grace, one or the other....one equals life..the other hell.....

Revelation 3:18
I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see.

◄ Philippians 3 ►
English Standard Version

. If anyone else thinks he has reason for confidence in the flesh, I have more: 5circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the law, a Pharisee; 6as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to righteousness under the law,c blameless. 7But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. 8Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ 9and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— 10that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.

How do we "wear Jesus"?

God doesn't toss His adopted children on the street. Being sealed by the Holy Spirit is more than a King's was seal on paper.

Wow, never knew so many people were against the idea of being born again, adopted into God's family and sealed with His Holy Spirit...I always thought that basic doctrine.
It is the basics....the word is spiritual and unless one is born of the spirit.....they will never understand....period! Even the message of salvation is hidden from those who will not take it by faith....to embellish, add or tie works to faith for salvation will lead to blindness........forever!

Have you no shame?
Now I'm
ignorant
a fool
bewitched
in the plenteous number (I guess that means I'm going to hell)

Do you think you could stop playing GOD for a while and JUST TALK TO PEOPLE??

Have you ever even read the New Testament?
What did Jesus tell you to do in Mathew 22:37-40 ??

WHY don't you do it??
Is it because Jesus has already done everything for you? YOU must do nothing?
Must Jesus also love your neighbors for you??

I said Jesus clothed us.

Currently we are wearing this:

Ephesians 6:10-18New International Version (NIV)

The Armor of God
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
****

But when He comes back He will give us white robes.

Well, let's see. YES.
If someone has NEVER HEARD OF JESUS, how could God hold him responsible for never having heard of Him???

Is God a just God or not?

I'll be you believe in eternal security.

SO, God is just in keeping you saved even if you don't want to be,
BUT, He's not just enough to consider a person that has never heard of Jesus or is raised in a different culture.

A study of Romans 1:19-20 And Romans 2:14-15 is in order.
More proof you lack understanding.....men are without excuse.....

a. Day unto day and night unto night utters speech heard in every language
b. The invisible testifies to the God head and his power

All are accountable regardless!

Amen......but only if one is willing to see.......those who refuse to see will remain blind forever....case in point....the rich man, while burning in hell refused the concept that the word of God would work to save his brothers....

Here's the basic:

1 Corinthians 9:26-27

Colossians 1:20-24
Jesus has reconciled you to God through His Death, in order to present you before Him HOLY and BLAMELESS and Beyond reproach... IF indeed you continue in the faith, firmly established and STEADFAST, and not moved away from the hope of the gospel...

Also try reading John 13:35 many times a day. Maybe eventually you'll really understand it.
