John MacArthur has helped me tremendously in my walk with Christ...May God bless him and use him for many more years...
I love the way he teaches verse by verse...xox...
Indeed. And he possesses an impeccable knowledge of and recall of the Scripture to boot. I must have listened to at least 1000 hours of MacArthur's sermons. Just listening tonight in the car. Yet another excellent broadcast. Get the phone app works great.

I have been listening to Alister Begg for a few months.....but I notice I really missed MacArthur lol.

Wow those guys talk slower than I type. As a former Catholic I know quite well how they replaced faith the lord, with dogmatic ritualism. It appalls me and elevating a man like any pope to a demi god is blasphemous. But I don't see how the pope or RCC has the financial or military clout to take over the majority of the world. There have been many antichrists but The Antichrist will have learned by Satin not to make the same mistakes.
i'm honestly leaning more towards the LDS birthing the false prophet / antichrist than the RCC. both are very rich, and very powerful, and very nefarious. but we'll see.

But you and he do not teach the same thing thankfully :)
I am not sure what he teaches....I never did really use a commentary and or rely upon what other men teach and or believe....not saying we cannot glean truth from someone, but in y case I pray my butt off, study every word, cross reference, use deductive reasoning based upon the truth's of the bible and let it lead me where ever it takes me.....and if something does not jive I chunk my conclusion and seek new answers and or start over and re-study it........I firmly believe 100% that the bible has one central truth concerning everything that can be found in scripture and that it will lead us ALL to the same conclusions.....if we do not agree only one of three or four possibilities...

If you would like to discuss "not by works", that's fine too, we are saved by grace through faith in Christ.
I do not believe grace is conferred by the so called sacraments of Roman Catholicism.
I was referring to Catholic Born Again Christians.I HAVE MET SEVERAL, and two of them were Priests and we had several long discussions.
For those who might think anything contrary, we love Catholics, but we don't love Roman Catholicism.

Do you think those Roman Catholics you mentioned, who were "Born Again Christians", were born again by practicing the works prescribed in the Roman Catholic faith's catechism?

ccc 1213 "Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit (vitae spiritualis ianua),4 and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: "Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word."5"

also 'answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own eyes'

enigmatic!!

it puzzled me for a long time, but i think i understand:
do not answer a fool in the same foolish way he speaks to you -- repay good for evil, not evil for evil or evil will never leave your house.
fight fire with water, not more fire.
answer a fool with wisdom, because if you let him go on speaking foolishly he will think he's 'stumped you' and believe himself wise.

so -- not according to his folly, but according his folly. not in like manner, but appropriately

what do y'all think? am i just as foolish? or was the dust brushed away, and did light dawn on these old bones? :)
The latter,
Those bones of yours sure are shiny brother Post. :)

(but me thinks the Light dawned on them a long time ago, and have caused them to remain brilliant for quite some time now)

John 1:9, John 8:12, John 12:46, 2 Corinthians 4:6.

Absolutely ...the foundation is the true gospel and from there God will reveal much to each one of us, as long as we are open, seeking with a humble heart.

I will admit to having been influenced by those who promote a feeble gospel (I no longer even want to type his name) that teach you need to get holy and prove your status in Christ, I prefer the mighty gospel that declares in Christ you are holy,

... and my patience is limited because they are damaging the spiritual church each and every day by having people strive for what is already available in Christ Jesus

Yes we do, on everything except Revelation. And every church that I have been involved in teaches the same think, and that is a bunch of Churches, because we move a lot. Conservative Evangelical.

If I focus too much on sin, I will fall, yet if I'm not vigilant, I will fall <-- everyone have this common struggle, dilemma during their spiritual warfare, but both have a common denominator

Unwittingly doing exactly what Satan wants: focus on self, and problems

The right response: focus on Jesus instead

Which is why, the less we worry and fret about the dilemma, the less influence it has

Don't worry about feeling too unworthy, Jesus said "it is finished"
