and we are saved by belief . is that clear enough, or do you need the dozens of verses that say so?

o.k. verses forthcoming. in the mean time, for the 4th time, where does the Bible say that " we get the Holy Sprit if we follow Jesus instructions " . you said this. now, back it up with Scripture.

now, John 3-16 - 18 is a good place to start with salvation by belief.

Good morning LoveGodForever. So who obeys Him? Believers or unbelievers? What act(s) of obedience do you believe causes us to receive the Holy Spirit?

LoveGodForever is just quoting scripture.
Plainly and simply.
Scripture is the Word of God.

You take unbrage at that???

Incredible.
I thought you believed in the Word of God.

I am simply asking LoveGodForever to clarify his interpretation of Acts 5:32. No need for your straw man argument. I believe in the Word of God.

Hi mailmandan,

So great to meet you... its late my end. I am about to sleep now but happy to chat with you latter...... I believe the Word of God just as it says. Only God's true believers receive the Holy Spirit. These are those that follow Jesus (the Word of God) and obey him just as the Word of God says. As they believe God's Word, Jesus gives them power to walk in newness of life. I was just trying to answer someones question they needed some help with. Anyhow hope it helps.

God bless you

Amen....God does give the Holy Spirit to those that obey Him.

Obeying God in context to Acts 5:32 are for those to believe in Christ and all that He has already done.

Obedience in the New Covenant.

Being "obedient to the faith" is believing in Christ and His work for us for life and living. This happens by grace through faith alone in the work of Christ.

Notice here that even the good living moral law-keeping priests need to be "obedient to the faith". The keeping of the law of Moses is NOT the same as being
"obedient to the faith".

Acts 6:7 (NASB)
[SUP]7 [/SUP] The word of God kept on spreading; and the number of the disciples continued to increase greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were becoming obedient to the faith.

Pagans/Gentiles also need to be
"obedient to the faith" and believe in Christ and what He has done for life and living.

Romans 1:5 (NASB)
[SUP]5 [/SUP] through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about
the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles for His name's sake,

All people of all types are called to be "
obedient to the faith" - which is belief in Christ alone for life and living.

Romans 16:26 (NASB)
[SUP]26 [/SUP] but now is manifested, and by the Scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the eternal God, has been made known to all the nations,
leading to obedience of faith;

From being obedient to believe in Christ's finished work on the cross releases His life to manifest in and through us.

the second part of Acts 5 is about the Apostles being arrested for preaching about the resurrection of Jesus, which he told them to do, and the Sanhedrin was telling them to stop, and their response to them was that they would obey God above men, and the Apostles had the Holy Sprit before then.

NONEED FOR "INTERPRETATION".

It's simply stated.

Do you not believe the word of God?

Asking a simple question is a straw man argument?
How does one have a conversation with you?

What would YOUR interpretation be of such a SIMPLE verse?

Must every verse be twisted and explained to suit YOUR needs?

How in Betsy's name does anyone without a PHd in biblical studies and theology EVER get to know what God wants from us???

If the bible is SOOOO difficult to understand, I mean.

Funny.
You yourself are saying that the apostles OBEYED God and did what He told them to do.

SO...
WHY do I get resisteance on this when I say it????

Interesting indeed.

Law abiding priests are OBEDIENT TO THE LAW
NOT Obedient to Faith.

In either case, we are to be obedient.

We should stop beating around the bush about this and stop watering down the message Jesus had for us.

If I say we are TO OBEY CHRIST, why do I get flack for it?

ARE WE NOT to obey Christ?

Why not just state it simply so even the most simple person could understand.

GOD SAVES US BECAUSE WE TRUST AND BELEIVE IN HIM.

WE CONTINUE IN OUR SALVATION BECAUSE WE OBEY GOD.
IF WE DO NOT OBEY GOD, WE CANNOT BE FRIENDS WITH HIM.
HE DEMADS THAT WE OBEY.

Where's the problem in that satement?
If you don't obey God, you think you're headed for heaven?

And please don't tell me you obey and nobody is saying not to sin.

If you don't state something clearly, it COULD BE TAKEN that way.

Hi Grace777, just wanted to point out some things before going to sleep. The Greek here is talking about obedience to the whole truth of the Word of God not only one aspect of God's Word but if you like, every Word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. It means completely relying on Christ (the Word of God) for salvation

Greek
πίστις
pistis
pis'-tis
From G3982; persuasion, that is, credence ; moral conviction of religious truth, or the truthfulness of God or a religious teacher, especially reliance upon Christ for salvation; abstractly constancy in such profession; by extension the system of religious truth itself: - assurance, belief, believe, faith, fidelity.

God bless you

It's simply stated.
So if a Mormon interprets Acts 5:32 as only those who obey the Mormon "version" of the gospel are those who obey Christ and have received the Holy Spirit, should I accept that as no need for interpretation? Anyone can write a blank check with the word "obey" and fill in whatever acts of obedience they wish and call it obeying Christ, when in fact they may not truly be obeying God. There are people mixed up in false religions and cults who believe they obey Christ, yet pervert the gospel.

Do you not believe the word of God?
Yes.

Asking a simple question is a straw man argument?
How does one have a conversation with you?
You said, "Incredible. I thought you believed in the Word of God." That's an assertion, not a question.

What would YOUR interpretation be of such a SIMPLE verse?
Just as it reads and only genuine believers have obeyed Him by choosing to believe the gospel and obey Him after they believe the gospel.

Must every verse be twisted and explained to suit YOUR needs?
I didn't twist it, but people in false religions and cults twist it.

How in Betsy's name does anyone without a PHd in biblical studies and theology EVER get to know what God wants from us???

If the bible is SOOOO difficult to understand, I mean.
You are making this complicated, not me.
