Well I miss DC and his honesty while with passion he stood up for his beliefs and in today's world, in order to survive, passion in our faith and belief in the Lord Jesus Christ may have to become more aggressive
I think the world responds to love more

while we may not convince them, those who hear us will respond to how we react to those who are against us

So a living faith is one in which deeds produced are through a motive of love and Christ working in you. It is the opposite of striving to earn God’s acceptance but a resting in God and gratitude which results in good deeds. Am I understanding correctly?

YES, for sure!

And with a multitude of EVIDENCE. My favorite is HE chose to validate HIS RESURRECTION was REAL to the His Disciples.

Luke 24:36-43 (NCV)
36
While the two followers were telling this, Jesus himself stood right in the middle of them and said, “Peace be with you.“
37 They were fearful and terrified and thought they were seeing a ghost.
38 But Jesus said, “Why are you troubled? Why do you doubt what you see?
39 Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see, because a ghost does not have a living body as you see I have.“
40 After Jesus said this, he showed them his hands and feet.
41 While they still could not believe it because they were amazed and happy, Jesus said to them, “Do you have any food here?“
42 They gave him a piece of broiled fish.
43 While the followers watched, Jesus took the fish and ate it.
Right with you.

Pretty sure it's written to believers that weren't living up to the gospel in respect of giving:
Perfect summary.
No, they were not Jews with "mere belief"

The statement "even demons believe " is a question posed to James, James is not making the statement he is addressing that mocking question.

This is all wrong

1. he said they claimed to have faith. No place in the passage does it state they had faith, it was a claimed faith only

2. the demon comment was to make a point, you say you believe, well even demons believe.

3. It said they had a dead faith, dead faith has no life, it is not living, it is in essence mere belief with no trust. A faith whcih can not save you seem to be claiming people who have never repented hence never come to trust living faith are peopleof God, this is just plain Wrong,

James is talking about mere belief in a creed that is not faith. “ you believe there is one God” is a mere creed.

Plenty of people believe in creeds and may even be orthodox in their beliefs who do not have a living faith

Faith that is mere talk is dead.

And you are probably correct but "works" just seems to me more generic. I like the sound of fruits, kind of like growth
Works can be like trying to earn a wage, and earning a wage is not grace. Fruit is a natural outgrowth of what God is doing in you and in your life. And a response of a grateful heart.

Faith without works is a dead faith?
Works do not add anything to “saved by faith”. Faith alone is sufficient to save.

Yet living faith has defining characteristics. Just like a physical life has defining characteristics.

It does not get any plainer..........Our righteous works have ZERO to do with Salvation!

English Standard Version
he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,

Berean Study Bible
He saved us, not by the righteous deeds we had done, but according to His mercy, through the washing of new birth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.

Berean Literal Bible
He saved us, not by works in righteousness that we did, but according to His mercy, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,

New American Standard Bible
He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,

King James Bible
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
No but if your love for Christ is true you will go out and do those works and make them part of your life. This is not an excuse to be lazy or not change your life. Do not mistake it for a license to sin.

DC has never said to be lazy, not work for Christ's Kingdom nor that not working was a license to sin. He isn't here to defend himself. I know what he believes however.

I believe if we belong to Christ we will desire to go out and be His feet, hands and mouth not because we is gain anything by it but because the HS within us will lead us to do such. Motives to me are very important. Motives to do any good thing in the Name of Jesus should be because of our love to further His Kingdom and to spread what we ourselves have come to understand
