The "falling away" can only happen to those who can fall..... christians.

Sinners were never raised to fall.
God raised the nation of Israel up and they fell away.

What is the difference between the prodigal child and an unbeliever?

Sin against God

If Lucifer could rebel in the presence of the Lord, so can any spiritual being.

Evil or destructive prinicples, to reject love and walk in darkness where the feeling or passion
is everything and the action, context, impact, reason are irrelevant.

Once you realise this is the definition of rebellion, sin, breaking the will of the creator, you know
how easy it is for any being, to choose to do, but how insane, nuts, when you can see the
wonder of it all, that being a part is staggering, and to damage it, is death, the end.

Now the closer you see love and Gods will, the plainer the choice becomes, but also the insanity
of sin and rebellion.

It is why security and eternal security is vapour wear. It has no meaning.
We have be grafted in to an eternal whole, to a life that never ends, to a kingdom where love is
expressed no matter the cost, because love is eternal, it does not have a price, it is.

It is why for me the disappointments of our lives, our ups and downs, our traumas, do not change
the background. What a privilege to have kids, to bring love and life to them, to be an example just
of victory over sin and emotion and trauma. Jesus our saviour and King is speaking to those who
see this and desire to walk in it. His words are life to your souls, and you know it.

No fake, no pretend, no theological constructs, just open honest love and commitments.
Salt and light, saving those lost and bribed by the world to stay in darkness for baubles that never
appear.

Sinners were never raised to fall.
Only the redeemed has light that can be lost, the word in their hearts that can be plucked away,
trials and endurance which they do not pass, worries that overwhelm and destroy the treasure
planted within.

If the Kingdom is not a choice and not a privilege, something we are called to walk in and empowered
to follow, then it cannot be lost, but then also it probably is not the Kingdom, because love has never
worked like this.

Since we cannot see the hearts of others, we cannot assume that those who now repudiate the faith they once professed have actually left the fold permanently. This means that we should pray for those who appear to be apostate, asking the Lord to work in their hearts and bring them back to Himself. Consider today those in your life who seem to have repudiated Jesus and pray that they would yet return to the faith they once professed.
I agree we should all pray for those who we believe have left the Lord.

Hosea 4

1
Listen to the word of the LORD, O sons of Israel,
For the LORD has a case against the inhabitants of the land,
Because there is no faithfulness or kindness
Or knowledge of God in the land. 2There is swearing, deception, murder, stealing and adultery.
They employ violence, so that bloodshed follows bloodshed.
3Therefore the land mourns,
And everyone who lives in it languishes
Along with the beasts of the field and the birds of the sky,
And also the fish of the sea disappear. 4Yet let no one find fault, and let none offer reproof;
For
your people are like those who contend with the priest. 5So you will stumble by day,
And the prophet also will stumble with you by night;
And I will destroy your mother.
6My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
Because you have rejected knowledge,
I also will reject you from being My priest. (apostasy)

Since you have forgotten the law of your God,
I also will forget your children.
7The more they multiplied, the more they sinned against Me;
I will change their glory into shame.
8They feed on the sin of My people
And direct their desire toward their iniquity.
9And it will be, like people, like priest;
So I will punish them for their ways
And repay them for their deeds.
10They will eat, but not have enough; (they are never satisfied with what they have)
They will play the harlot, but not increase, (the church plays the spiritual harlot, & are not blessed)
Because they have stopped giving heed to the LORD.
11Harlotry, wine and new wine take away the understanding.

During the apostasy, people are drunk on falsehood & heresy.

Am I saying this scripture pertains to the church? No. I'm saying God is the same today & will punish those of the church just like He did Israel. God doesn't change.

Now I have a problem with this comment.
If you ever see a road traffic accident, both drivers jump out and say, "Did you not see
what I was going to do? It was obvious and you got it wrong, so it is your fault!"

Now we all agree there is a disagreement. The question is can both parties withdraw and
suggest a better way of approaching it so it is not a crash but an exchange of viewpoints.
It would depend on how a person hears God who without parables spoke not using things of men seen, the temporal to represent the unseen eternal, as the things of God in those parables.

Some would offer dead works coming from a dead faith that they offer towards Him and not the kind of faith that comes from him according to his own labor of love also called a work of faith. this is seeing faith and works is all one thing and cannot be separated anymore than a body separated from the spirit essence of life …No breath of life.

It would be like the an auto accident that was exam mined by the insurance investigator asking the person to describe the event. The person would then take a blank sheet of paper a pencil and two pencil erasers drawing lines that intersect and then saying holding one of the erasers this is my car moving it to the intersection then taking the other eraser and saying this is the other persons car …..and the insurance investigator would say; stop …that not a car its a pencil eraser ….turning things upside down as if the insured person had no understanding .

We walk by a faith that comes towards us not that we offer towards him as a dead faith that can only produce dead works reckoned by ..I never knew you who work inequity according to self righteousness

The Forms of Apostasy
To fully identify and combat apostasy, it is important that Christians understand its various forms and the traits that characterize its doctrines and teachers. As to the forms of apostasy, there are two main types: (1) a falling away from key and true doctrines of the Bible into heretical teachings that proclaim to be “the real” Christian doctrine, and (2) a complete renunciation of the Christian faith, which results in a full abandonment of Christ.

Arius represents the first form of apostasy—a denial of key Christian truths (such as the divinity of Christ) that begins a downhill slide into a full departure from the faith, which is the second form of apostasy. It is important to understand that the second form almost always begins with the first. A heretical belief becomes a heretical teaching that splinters and grows until it pollutes all aspects of a person’s faith, and then the end goal of Satan is accomplished, which is a complete falling away from Christianity.

A recent example of this process is a 2010 study done by prominent atheist Daniel Dennett and Linda LaScola called “Preachers Who Are Not Believers.” Dennett and LaScola’s work chronicles five different preachers who over time were presented with and accepted heretical teachings about Christianity and now have completely fallen away from the faith and are either pantheists or clandestine atheists. One of the most disturbing truths highlighted in the study is that these preachers maintain their position as pastors of Christian churches with their congregations being unaware of their leader’s true spiritual state.
Works salvation false gospel and
Deny that salvation is by faith and NOT WORKS I are apostate teaching...JUST SAYIN'

So is ntrying to keep people babies in milk all their life and not understanding or teaching that God expects us to add to our faith and become mature and grounded in Christ.

Licentious teachings....legalism...

.we can have a list but it's better to preach the true gospel and help people be grounded in Christ.

Has anyone see a couple where one dotes on the other, while the other exploits them?

How do these relationships end? Well or badly.

If this is your view of heaven and Gods intention into eternity, do you really know Jesus and
His walk with the disciples. Listen to how He spoke to Peter,

Do you love me more than these?
Do you love me?
Do you love me?
John 21:15-17

Peter had a choice and he was commited to Christ, but had also been shown
to be impetuous. This was a choice, a loving involvement, an exchange, something
personal and also eternal. But it came over time as a relationship grew.

I know 100% both sides claim honesty and integrity, so I wonder if they can actually live it,
and learn the meaning of the word forgiveness.

Now I forgive you all for those terrible thoughts and words you have spoken, and I ask you
to forgive my comments that have insulted or upset you. If it is not sin I am talking about,
I do not wish to upset anyone, but learn and help empower people to walk with Jesus.
Most here have had a much harder life and traumas than I have been through, and I feel
privileged to share with you.

I would hope you can respect where I am coming from and understand I share my heart, not
an image or an impression but who I am. And the confidence I have is Gods elect are commanded
to love and help me, like I them. This brings real confidence, even when things go into a crash,
the Lords people will bring healing and grace, as His ambassadors, Amen.

By the way I have no degrees in theology, no massive ministry, no global impact, just a desire to
follow Jesus.
there is so much arrogant junk in here, I do not have time to take apart. so, the big stuff-

you mean terrible thoughts and words like pointing out how YOU slander others, how YOU misrepresent what others say, how YOU claim folks say things they do not say, how YOU refuse to use the full Biblical definition of sin, how YOU misuse and at times misquote Scripture, and refuse to accept correction for doing so.......

and, this is a insincere attempt at an apology, as you stated that others have " terrible thoughts and words " while saying " my comments that insulted or upset". no " I apologize for the things listed above". wow just wow.

It's almost painful to watch...like the old ladies who like to punch little boys bottoms. I tend to tell my kids to steer clear of it.

I know it's suppose to be joking but with the amount of adultery and sexual immorality in the world, I don't find it humorous.

I didn't say anything because I didn't want to be legalistic about it, but flirting does make me uncomfortable. Just one of those things I think should stay between husband and wife.
I have to agree with you...xox

While James 2:24 is the only verse that contains the precise phrase “faith alone,” there are many other verses that do, in fact, teach salvation by faith alone. Any verse that ascribes salvation to faith/belief, with no other requirement mentioned, is a declaration that salvation is by faith alone. John 3:16 declares that salvation is given to “whoever believes in Him.” Acts 16:31 proclaims, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.” Ephesians 2:8 says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith.” See also Romans 3:28; 4:5; 5:1; Galatians 2:16; 3:24; Ephesians 1:13; and Philippians 3:9. Many other verses could be referenced in addition to these.

In summary, James 2:24 does not argue against salvation by faith alone. Rather, it argues against a salvation that is alone, a salvation devoid of good works and obedience to God’s Word. James’s point is that we demonstrate our faith by what we do (James 2:18). Regardless of the absence of the precise phrase “faith alone,” the New Testament definitely teaches that salvation is the product of God’s grace in response to our faith. “Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. On what principle? . . . On that of faith” (Romans 3:27). There is no other requirement.

I believe this.
:)
Amen! Then we are in agreement.

Salvation is by faith alone....but true faith is never alone. We have to add to our faith just like 2 Peter 1 tells us and then we can learn how not to fall into the traps of Satan.

We have defined "apostasy" from our own understanding of that term. It simply means in the Greek "to depart" or "to separate from."

So, we have heard sermons from our church upbringing where "apostasy" was used and put in some scriptures here and there and we come up with a doctrine. Now the "meaning" of apostasy has taken on a whole life within itself.

It is used 16 times in scripture and all the meanings are the same "To separate or to depart" "stand separate from" - "withdraw from".

Here is an example of it being used.

1 Timothy 6:5 (KJV)
[SUP]5 [/SUP] Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

The truth is all of us in some form are standing apart from some things that Christ has done for us. None of us are manifesting Christ to His fullness.

We can know that we have the peace of Christ but we withdraw or depart from believing in that because our mind cannot get around the natural circumstances.

The famous scripture that is used from those believe we lose salvation is 1 Tim. 4:1 - but let's look and see what it is really saying "in context".

They usually love to just quote the part about seducing spirits and doctrines of devils ( which they usually apply to something they don't believe in but some one else might ).

Let's see what Paul was actually saying "departing from the faith actually is".

1 Timothy 4:1-5 (NASB)
[SUP]1 [/SUP] But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away ( apostesontai - this is the word - apostasy ) from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons,

[SUP]2 [/SUP] by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron,

[SUP]3 [/SUP] men who forbid marriage and advocate abstaining from foods which God has created to be gratefully shared in by those who believe and know the truth.

[SUP]4 [/SUP] For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with gratitude;

[SUP]5 [/SUP] for it is sanctified by means of the word of God and prayer.

What is going to cause this "falling away" ( apostasy )...people who forbid others to marry...and not to eat certain foods...why is this departing from the faith?...it's in verse 3, 4 and 5.

verse 3 = which God has created to be gratefully shared in by those who believe and know the truth. It's in knowing who you are in Christ - who is the truth and the faith.

This not marrying and not eating certain foods to keep yourself "separated" from others is a form of self-effort and reliance on a D.I.Y. self-righteousness/holiness mindset.

This is "departing from the faith - apostasy"....... people creating their own righteousness/holiness through their works of the flesh by self-effort when we are to believe on Christ's work on the cross and resurrection for all things.

It has the "appearance " of good but it denies the power to effect real transformation by the Holy Spirit ...which is Christ in us and His life. The Holy Spirit reveals the things of Christ and His work and this is what transforms us.

.. man-made religion denying the finished work of our Lord Jesus Christ.

So we see that the word "apostasy" is not what some try to make it into.

There are many warnings in scripture about living your own ways and thoughts contrary to God such as depending on the flesh for life instead of walking by the spirit and they should be heeded if you want His life to be manifested in us.

Let's build believers up in Christ and feed them the proper nutrients of proclaiming the love and grace of our Lord for them and these will give them the proper foundation in Christ and then the warnings will be applied in context of Christ's finished work on the cross and not on a works-based, fear-based belief system which only nullifies the very grace of God needed for us to live in this earth.
Bruce,
The Greek rendering does not bear you out on this one.
2 Thess 2.3 and its uses of Apostasy or apostasia in the original Greek means defection/rebellion and it is from the Greek root word apostasion which means divorce. A divorce is not simple separation as many teachers suggest it means. Divorce is final. All the Greek root words related to this never say the word separate, neither does vines. All the transliteration words relating to Apostasy in the Greek are clear, a willful rebellious defection and divorce from something.

We could say the word apostasy means to fall away through rebellious defection.

Likewise the term fall away in 1 Tim 4.1 is related to the words above and is aphistēmi it carries even a more direct meaning that also includes to tall away from pistis, or faith. It also means to cut oneself from something....again the word separate is not used anywhere.

If you study out the word fall away from 1 Tim 4.1 you will see that it is also related to the Greek word piptō. This is the word that Jesus used in Luke 10.18 when he described Satan "fall" from heaven. This word means to lose a position of authority due to rebellious defection.

The Greek word for separation found in Romans 8.39 is chōrizō and means to separate or go away....Now since Paul used this word here, why not use this word in 2 Thess 2.3 and 1 Tim 4.1?

Many Bible teachers and preachers describe the words apostasy and fall away in 2 Thess 2.3 1 Tim 4.1 as chōrizō
because they have been taught that Romans 8.38-39 is about salvation. However, this is also a false teaching.

Romans 8.38-9 tell us nothing can separate us from the Love of God in Christ Jesus....it doe snot say nothing can separate our salvation from Christ Jesus. Lascivious Grace teaches a damnable heresy here. They suggest the word love here is actually grace and that Jesus own love/grace saved us and this is how it is explained that Romans 8.38-39 are all about eternal security...

Except for a small thing that people ignore or have not studied out...Paul's use of words...

In the Epistle of Romans, Paul used the same word salvation or sōtēria a total of 5 times.
Romans 1.16
Romans 10.1
Romans 10.10
Romans 11.1
Romans 13.11

If Paul was using the word salvation and wanted us to have the assurance of eternal security in Romans 8, he would have used the word that means that he would have wrote Romans 8.38-39 this way...

[SUP]38 [/SUP]For I am convinced that neither [SUP](A)[/SUP]death, nor life, nor [SUP](B)[/SUP]angels, nor principalities, nor [SUP](C)[/SUP]things present, nor things to come, nor powers, [SUP]39 [/SUP]nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from [SUP](D)[/SUP]the salvation of God, which is [SUP](E)[/SUP]in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Yet he wrote it this way:

[SUP]38 [/SUP]For I am convinced that neither [SUP](A)[/SUP]death, nor life, nor [SUP](B)[/SUP]angels, nor principalities, nor [SUP](C)[/SUP]things present, nor things to come, nor powers, [SUP]39 [/SUP]nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from [SUP](D)[/SUP]the love of God, which is [SUP](E)[/SUP]in Christ Jesus our Lord.

People have to do so terrible destruction and twisting of scripture to suggest the love of God in Christ Jesus really means salvation..

The easy out many give is not only does the love means salvation, but Since Paul was talking about the Jews in Romans 10, 11 then it really is not for gentiles....when you redirect them back to the use of it in Romans 1 and remind them Paul was describing gentiles their heads explode and they drop fellowship with you....this is because the truth outweighs the easy believing grace they are peddling...

Be mindful that chōrizō is uesd only 12 x in the whole NT and not once is it used in reference to falling away/apostasy.

I would offer he does not offer against salvation by faith as a work alone but does offer it is His faith alone that performs the work working in us to both will and do His good pleasure as a imputed work in that parable with Abraham and the same with the parable using Rehab .So we are saved by works as was Abraham and Rehab but not in respect to a faith alone coming from either creature It is the faith of Christ that worked with the works of Christ.. by his work of faith.. his faith (beleif) was made complete perfect

James 2:22 is a companion verse using Paul (Philipians 2:12-13)

Seest thou how (Christ’s) faith wrought with his (Christ’s) works, and by (Christ’s) works was (Christ’s) faith made perfect? And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. Jam 2:22

If we did attribute the imputed work to Abraham as the Jews do we would be blashpheming the Holy name by which we are called heavenward which brings us to the beginning subject matter (verse 1)of that chapter.

We simply do not attribute the work of God’s faith to any man.

Jam 2:1 My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.
(Abraham or Rehab)

Jam 2:7 Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?

The "falling away" can only happen to those who can fall..... christians.

Sinners were never raised to fall.
True, for some do fall from the truth, and the sinners cannot fall away for they were never saved, but the falling away that I speak of has more to do with it than that. This is a falling away of the world, which means the world is not responding to the Bible, and are giving heed to the new age movement, their own lusts, power through nature, and they are turned unto fables, which is the imaginations of men,and not the general hypocrisy that goes on now,for those are not fables.

The saints cannot be gathered unto Christ until there is a falling away first, and the man of sin claims to be God,this is in terms of a falling away where the world will not accept the truth of the Bible, but according to their own lusts, that causes Christianity to rapidly decline in impacting the world with the truth, which paves the way for the man of sin to take control of the world, which the Gospel must be preached in to all the world, then comes the end.

During the time of the falling away, before the man of sin claims to be God,the Church is there, but the world is barely responding to it,and even though some depart from the truth of the Bible, and many shall depart from the faith, and give heed to the new age movement, the Church is still there, and only people who act like Christ, not hypocritical, claim Jesus as Lord and Savior, can be part of the Church, for the Church can never be corrupt, never fall away.

Which some people believe that the falling away before the man of sin claims to be God,is the Church, but the Church can never fall away, even if people depart from the truth of it,and it is not the falling away of the people that are in hypocrisy as now,but a condition of the world that the saints can rarely convert someone to Christianity, for they are giving heed to the new age movement, which paves the way for the man of sin to gain favor, and control the world.

The falling away is the condition of the world in response to the Gospel that causes Christianity to rapidly decline in impacting the world with the truth, for it is the time for God to give the world their way,and cause all people that do not love Him to follow the beast kingdom, and start to separate those that love God,from those that do not love Him,and the beast kingdom will further that separation. The Church is there, for salvation is still available for the first three and one half years, and is a falling away concerning the world, for judgment will soon come upon them, for all who follow the beast kingdom.

But it is true, that only a person that was in the truth, can fall away, and the sinner cannot fall away, for they were never in the truth.

A recent example of this process is a 2010 study done by prominent atheist Daniel Dennett and Linda LaScola called “Preachers Who Are Not Believers.”
This study I find interesting.
Atheist have gone from training college into ministry while not being believers and
hidden this as if ministry has meaning within a christian context if you do not believe.

So it is no surprise that if you join these groups expecting to be taught about God
you hear about atheism instead in a christian wrapping.

This should never have been allowed to occur.

Because there are some that claim that the "falling away" are sinful, religious people who never were saved.
Or worse it is taught these were just the tares among wheat, but as oyu have already shown and the Bible teaches, God separates the tares and they are not given the luxury of simply falling away...

I do not understand why people wrestle against being everything for God they can....that is all this comes down to....doing your part...not to gain or keep salvation, but to be fruitful and make disciples...because when you do your part you want to abide with him and you will never fall away....that is eternal security....
