Oh my, what is happening with everyone? Why all the hostility? Where is the Love in your hearts for people? What is going on here? People who i never heard calling names, are calling people names. People are being mean to each other. Oh my this is not good at all. Where is Jesus? Where is your Love? Oh my.
Repent, be nice to one another. You can disagree, but disagree in Love. Don't have to attack. Don't have to say anything that YOU KNOW is going to upset that person. Know you not that to cause a brother to stumble is to commit sin. Stop name calling. Stop belittling people. Stop degrading people, Stop mocking people.
Do you not realize what you say to the least of these you say to Christ? What you say, you will have to answer for one day. When you say something that hurts another, you hurt Jesus. You all would do well to remember who your Lord is, and how He would respond. i am sorely grieved this day because of the things i have read in this thread. Oh my. Don't think i can do any more of this today, brings my spirit down to see people here that i know is good in heart, treat people as they are doing. LOVE ONE ANOTHER, Pleeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzeeeeeeeee.

Absolutely! You do know however that this passage of scripture is referring to God’s 7[SUP]th[/SUP] Day Sabbath don’t you? Verse 9 you left out is the context, Let’s look at it….
“There remaineth therefore a [Sabbath] rest [SUP]4520[/SUP] to the people of God.” (NAS; Heb 4:9)

The Greek word literally means “Sabbath keeping” or “Sabbath observance.

Strong's Concordance

sabbatismos: a sabbath rest
Original Word: σαββατισμός, οῦ, ὁ
Part of Speech: Noun, Masculine
Transliteration: sabbatismos
Phonetic Spelling: (sab-bat-is-mos')
Short Definition: a Sabbath rest
Definition: a keeping of the Sabbath, a Sabbath rest.

Englishman's Concordance

Strong's Greek 4520

σαββατισμὸς — 1 Occ.
Hebrews 4:9 N-NMS
GRK: ἄρα ἀπολείπεται σαββατισμὸς τῷ λαῷ
NAS: there remains a Sabbath rest for the people
KJV: therefore a rest to the people
INT: Then remains a sabbath rest to the people

Those that did not enter into God’s rest did not enter in because of their unbelief and disobedience (sins)

If you read verses 29 and 30 that you left out all this verse is saying that we have rest by learning of Jesus following him

Hmm well that definitely does not say that Jesus is the Sabbath. It also does not say that we not longer need to keep God's 7th Day Sabbath commandment a holy anymore.

Are you able to answer my questions now?

Do you know what a High Sabbath is? (John 19:31) What is an annual Sabbaths that is connected to feast days that do not even fall on the 7th Day of the week (Lev 23)?

Did you know all of the above are not referring to God's 4th commandment (Ex 20:8-11) but are connected to annual feast days? Did you know that these annual Sabbaths are also connected with New Moons, meat and drink offering and holy days? Funny how they all seem to fit so well with Col 2 in the new testament is talking about don't you think?

Still waiting for your answer to my question. Where in the bible does it say that Jesus is our Sabbath? Where does it say in the Bible we not longer need to keep God's 7th Day Sabbath a holy day? I believe God's Word how about you? Ok I have to go for now back latter and God bless you
Ariel, this is the false exegesis!
Based on the meaning of one word he skews the entire passage into somehow being about a day (Saturday).
He has retreaded the exact post from the other thread where I first read it.

I've never said I don't love them.. And nothing's gotten into me.. Except the frustration of other people's heresy.. :/

Jesus Commanded us to Love One Another. Should you not Love Loveme? Should you not Love mj007? What has gotten into you, you never talked this way to others before, if you want to talk about it, you can email me if you like.

The Sabbath means rest. Even in the OT it's not always on a Saturday. Folks should study the Year of Jubilee, it's an awesome shadow of what Heaven will be like.

I love the part about having to free your slaves and forgive all debts.

Why does it say those things (Sabbath, etc) are shadows and that Jesus is the SUBSTANCE?

Same reason Jesus is the Manna from Heaven.

Learn what it means that God would have mercy and not sacrifice.

Learn what it means to rest in God's love.

Learn what it means to a true born again child of God.

Then maybe we can converse and your broken record will be fixed.
Yep....broken record still happening. Maybe one day God will reveal God's truth about what the Sabbath really means to folks.

Fyi. I view Sabbath keeping the same as eating meat: you do as God commands just don't condemn others For not following what God told YOU to do.

(((yeah I know talking to myself. Figured then I know at least person is actually listening)))

Nope not at all.
.I say sin is destructive and that God will help us overcome sin, but He loved us while we were sinners so we need to love others even when they sin.
when did god ask you to say anything. when you still think there is a law.you have no athority here.
4 You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified by the law; you have fallen away from grace Galatians 5: Christ Has Set Us Free
if you still have a law ,take it up with the destructive force that killed you.

some dip stick has to come into death to reclaim you.

Anyway I am reading a book a member on CC recommended and it's really good.

It made me think of this thread so I thought I would share it

"Connecting: healing for ourselves and our relationships" by Larry Crabb

I feel it shows why the Body of Christ is so important for us to have a healthy spiritual life and is written by a psychologist so that adds a different perspective.

Hi Ariel

Aren't we better of reading God's Word? Did you get a chance to think about the questions I sent you earlier?

So because I believe all of Scripture in context I believe works saved me? I adhere to the Testimony of the Messiah by grace and love. I believe all Scripture above a man made collage of verses and added no works....
Yes, good works of obedience from a pure heart keeps us saved, or as the apostle Paul said; we are workers together with HIM, synergy> two working together the bring about a relationship of love that can in no wise be obtained by any other means, Philip. 2-12,13....anything less equates to the story of the little red hen........................be blessed

Scriptures over and over again, put conditions on Salvation. Are we to repent in order to be Saved? How is that not a condition? Are we to confess? How is that not a condition? Are we to OBEY Jesus? Again, yet another condition.
Is it not written: if you do not forgive men their trespasses your Father in Heaven will NOT Forgive you. How then is that not a condition for Salvation? Scriptures plainly teaches that all liars will burn in the lake of fire and brimstone, how is that not a condition for Salvation, or do you believe you can be a liar and still be Saved going to Heaven? Scriptures teach Liars will not enter into Heaven. What then, if a liar claims to be Saved, that excludes them from all Scriptures which teach a Liar will not enter into Heaven.

What about the condition of Hating someone?

1Jn_2:9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.

1Jn_2:11 But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.

1Jn_3:15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

1Jn_4:20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

So what then. if a person believes in Jesus and has faith in Jesus Christ, then that person can Hate someone, and their Salvation is still sure? What then, do we discard all the above verses concerning those who hate someone. So then according to you. all a person needs to do is to believe and have faith, and that is it, no strings attached, nothing else required. If this is True, then we might as well get rid of MANY Scriptures which teach otherwise.

Bob has believes in Jesus Christ. Bob got Saved 10 years ago. Bob has Faith in Jesus Christ. Bob repents of his sins. Bob hates a couple of people at his work. Bob does not forgive what David did to him and his family. Tell me. According to Scriptures (not what men teach) According to Scriptures, even though Bob believes and has Faith in Jesus Christ, is he going to Heaven? Now before you answer remember the verses that says if you do not forgive others, neither will you be forgiven. it also says if you hate, you lie and do not know the TRUTH and walk in darkness. So answer. Bob Believes and has Faith in Jesus and Bob hates people, and Bob don't forgive others. Still going to Heaven because of his Belief and Faith? Or are Scriptures TRUE and what men teach lies?
Here is the TRUTH, Just because you Believe in Jesus, and have Faith in Jesus, DOES NOT NEGATE SCRIPTURES. You can't believe ONLY a few verses which teach what it takes to be SAVED, you have to believe them ALL.
There is a verse that teaches if you believe in Jesus you are Saved. Does believing ONLY that verse negate the verses which teach you must repent to be Saved? Does believing on that one verse negate the verse which teaches you must confess to be SAVED? This generation picks and chooses which verses they will believe in and which ones need to be interpreted away, made void, or just ignored.
It would behoove a person who TRULY wanted to know what Scriptures teach about what it means to be SAVED, to study and BELIEVE ALL verses concerning that topic, instead of picking and choosing a couple to live by and ignore the rest.

So according to the teaching of men, all a person need to do to be Saved is to believe and have Faith in Jesus. According to Scriptures there is MORE to it than that. demons, believed and knew that Jesus was the Son of God, and they even OBEYED HIM. imagine that demons OBEY HIM, but leave it to this generation to think it is alright to NOT OBEY Jesus and continue to live in disobedience by obey His enemy and committing sins.

Yes their are conditions to Salvation, Scriptures teaches there is.

I believe God's word and if God only meant the high Sabbath connected with the feast and not the weekly Sabbath. he would have included instructions for people to keep the weekly Sabbath in the New Testament.

The fact that Jewish converts kept the weekly Sabbath doesn't prove anything. They also were physically circumcised and God tells us that it's the spiritual circumcision of the heart that truly matters. In the same way, keeping the Sabbath spiritually is what is important and this can be done weekly or daily. I prefer daily.

This is what God says about the issue:

******

◄ Romans 14:5 ►
New International Version
One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind.

New Living Translation
In the same way, some think one day is more holy than another day, while others think every day is alike. You should each be fully convinced that whichever day you choose is acceptable.

English Standard Version
One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind.

Berean Study Bible
One man regards a certain day above the others, while someone else considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind.

Berean Literal Bible
For indeed one judges a day to be above another day, but one judges every day alike. Let each be fully assured in the own mind.

New American Standard Bible
One person regards one day above another, another regards every day alike. Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind.

King James Bible
One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

*****

If you don't believe you can keep the Sabbath daily then you have fallen for man made rules about how to truly keep the Sabbath rest in Christ and may be trying to be in the Old Covenant instead of the New covenant established by Christ Jesus

First fruit is being born again of the Holy spirit.

First good work is forgiveness and love for others because of God's forgiveness and love of us.

Repentance tills the soil of the heart to allow the GOSPEL to take root in a humble and contrite heart seeking God and His truth. It is a work of God, not man.

In context for those interested.....

◄ Romans 14 ►
English Standard Version
Do Not Pass Judgment on One Another

1As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. 2One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. 3Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him. 4Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own mastera that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand.

5One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God. 7For none of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself. 8For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s. 9For to this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living.

10Why do you pass judgment on your brother? Or you, why do you despise your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God;
11for it is written,

“As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me,
and every tongue shall confessb to God.”

12So then each of us will give an account of himself to God.

Do Not Cause Another to Stumble

13Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother. 14I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself, but it is unclean for anyone who thinks it unclean. 15For if your brother is grieved by what you eat, you are no longer walking in love. By what you eat, do not destroy the one for whom Christ died. 16So do not let what you regard as good be spoken of as evil. 17For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. 18Whoever thus serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men. 19So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding.

Lyrics:

When I look back on what I thought was living
I'm amazed at the price I choose to pay
And to think I ignored what really mattered
'Cause I thought the sacrifice would be too great

But when I finally reached the point of giving in
I found the cross was calling even then
And even though it took dying to survive
I've never felt so much alive

For I am crucified with Christ and yet I live
Not I but Christ that lives within me
His cross will never ask for more than I can give
For it's not my strength but His, there's no greater sacrifice
For I am crucified with Christ and yet I live

As I hear the Savior call for daily dying
I will bow beneath the weight of Calvary
Let my hands surrender to His piercing purpose
That holds me to the cross yet sets me free

I will glory in the power of the cross
The things I thought were gain I count as loss
And with His suffering I identify
And by His resurrection power, I am alive

For I am crucified with Christ and yet I live
Not I but Christ that lives within me
His cross will never ask for more than I can give
For it's not my strength but His, there's no greater sacrifice
For I am crucified with Christ and yet I live

And I will offer all I have so that His cross is not in vain
For I found to live is Christ and to die is truly gain

For I am crucified with Christ and yet I live
Not I but Christ that lives within me
His cross will never ask for more than I can give
For it's not my strength but His, there's no greater sacrifice
For I am crucified with Christ and yet I live
For I am crucified with Christ and yet I live

Is it better to be alone in prayer on a mountaintop or in the midst of a crowded town preaching the gospel?

In the same way is it better to be alone reading your Bible or fellowshipping and discussing how the Bible can be applied to our lives through a small group book study?

False dichotomy for both are good activities and can be blessings to us and others.
