I believe that with every act of obedience to each of Gods laws there is a blessing attached, (not to be confused with salvation) which is free. these blessings are for this life for example if I eat the way God told us to and prepare my food correctly there is a blessing in my health, I stopped eating pork, not because I think it is a sin (and I love bacon even dreamed about it ) but after doing some research I stopped, and I have reaped some health benefits from that. I would like to have others thoughts or scripture on this.

Yes to your post, especially when we consider our Father likens disobedience to idolatry. It does not take a genius to understand that, not at all. Yahweh bless you and hold you close always, amen.

All things are good in moderation. In all things give thanks to the Lord. The less bacon you eat the more there is for me...well not really...a slice now and then can be a real treat. Too much salad can be bad for the soul. God has given to us a great variety of food to eat, like Peter let us rise give thanks and eat. Nothing is unclean if God gives it to us. Many have little to choose from so we ought to remember them as though we were in their stead.

We have all heard this passage right?

Leviticus 26:7-8, "You will chase your enemies, and they shall fall by the sword in front of you. Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight; your enemies shall fall by the sword in front of you."

But we rarely hear the IF to enjoy that blessing:

Leviticua 26:18, "If you walk in My statutes and keep My Laws, and perform and do them, Then I will give you rain in its season, the land shall yield its produce, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. Your threshing shall last until the time of vintage, and the vintage shall last until the time of sowing. You shall eat your food until you are full, and live in your and safely. I will give peace in the land, and you shall lie down, and none will make you afraid; I will rid the land of wild beasts, and the sword will not go through your land. You will chase your enemies, and they shall fall by the sword in front of you. Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight; your enemies shall fall by the sword in front of you."

Yeremyah 7:5-8, "This is what Yahweh says: Cursed is the man who trusts in man, who makes flesh his arm; strength, and whose heart departs from Yahweh. For he will be like a bush in the desert, and will not see success when it comes, but will inhabit the parched places in the wilderness; a salt land not inhabited! Blessed is the man who trusts in Yahweh, and whose hope is Yahweh. For he will be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes. Its leaves are always green; it will not be worried in the year of drought, and never ceases to yield fruit."

I believe Yeshua pronounced all foods clean, especially after giving thanks. Also, it is quite permissable for any brother or sister to follow the dietary laws if they are so moved, and it should not be held up to ridicule or shaded to appear as though it is wrong.

I do believe the laws and commandments on moral behavior are yet extant for anyone who loves Yahweh Who is Yeshua and the Holy Spirit. Our new nature is to obey those laws for they fulfill love, they describe how to love more perfectly. Loving Yeshua, our nature is to obey the moral commands of Yahweh. If anyone believes disobeying them consciously is permitted, that person does not yet know Yeshua.

I think there are blessings in this life that people on the outside of our world simply can't see, because in our material world they often count blessings in dollars and cents, or what we wear on the outside of us. God gives blessings in inner peace, love for each other, joyful laughter, what many bible translator give up on translating and use "shalom".

I have been studying some of the history or bible times that has opened up to us, for instance what the people and times were like in Canaan. God set up laws for the Hebrews to follow, very like a constitution for their government. It was to be a nation very different from the other ones in the world at that time. Christians have read those laws and shuttered ever since. They call them the 613 laws and use them as threats to us, because God sometimes said that these are so important to keep that people who break them should be stoned. God even said that about things we take for granted that people just do every day. For instance, God had laws that protected the family so it was a secure place to be, not with the threats to it we have today.

What God had in mind was leading these people to a world that was filled with fun, safety, security, good will, and love. It was to be different from the worlds filled with money grabbing, not caring for each other, immorality, and fear because of the insecurity of the nations around them.

Any time Christians study those laws now, all they see is severe punishment and death from them. They don't even read about the ways people were protected from wrong accusations, or think about what a world would be like if those laws were followed.

What happened was that those laws didn't really work for the Hebrews. Instead of going to temple with sacrifice because of love of their God and to be cleansed, they sacrificed to present their work to God in exchange for good crops. God had presented it all with love and asked for love, when that was missing it didn't work. But what the Hebrews did manage in obedience meant that they achieved an island of blessings in a world filled with pain.

I think we can do the same in our world, too. We can even see it in our world, for all of us see families who use God's love as the center, and use that as the basis for love and loyalty for each other.

Yup, I believe that also.......is there not a Scripture that says to eat what is put before you if it has been blessed? Something like that......dunno right off...........but sure that there is..........

Sure! If one feels led/called to follow the dietary laws in Scripture, DO IT! And God bless ya! Nothing wrong with that.

As well, FOLLOW THE DIETARY rules your Doctor might prescribe to you! Just good sense in my opinion.

I LOVE BACON...........and I miss it so very much....... ALONG WITH ANY FOOD THAT CONTAINS CITRUS ACID...........AND/OR FRIED FOODS..........I suffer from acid reflux......and take medication...........

So I do have dietary restrictions...........and it IS FOR HEALTH REASONS that I abstain.....

Bacon and sanctification has nothing to do with each other.
Our obedience is fruit from our abiding in Him an Him abiding in us.

Ok, but, do you like bacon?
:)
Ewww, the answer to that would go beyond the scope of this thread. For starters, it all depends on the meaning of 'like'. (ROFL)

I really like this concept that obedience=blessings. It is so true. There are so many examples of that in life. God wants to bless us and I believe commandments exist for that very reason. Commandments=freedom also. I guess in the case of bacon, the vessels in your body will be more clean of fatty plaque than those of us who eat it. :) But, I think your question is really about the obedience=blessings and I completely agree. There are many examples of that in the scriptures. I first thought of Abraham, he was a faithful, good, and honest man and God gave Him uncountable blessings because of his faithfulness. One example is the sacrafice of Isaac. He was willing to give his son because God commanded to do so. Because of his obedience, he learned about God. He learned about how it would feel to sacrifice your son. "This is life eternal that they may know thee, the only true God and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent. John 17:3" His blessing was an understanding and a knowledge of how God must have felt when he sacrificed his son. It seems to me that one of the most common blessings of obedience is a greater knowledge of God.

I love cheese and tomato sandwiches, but this is not the OP............nor is it something to giggle about.

Either people come here to discuss the Word as children of the Most High God or you are here to be funny, the latter is not comely.

i don't know if the OP's main point had to do with food. That seemed to be an example.

But as a whole, walking in obedience to God is going to put you on a better path than walking in rebellion. It doesn't guarantee a problem free life, but certainly the stressors that come from walking in sin are more severe than the ones that come from walking in obedience.

Amen to S_W's post. My own point is this about the humor. When a sister in the Lord Yeshua comes to share her experience in love as a gift to her family, it should be accepted for what it is.

Jesus comes to each of us in the manner each one of us needs, if not, no one would be saved. The final outcome to our being in Christ is our repentance and our love of Him.

If we love Him, we will love each other. We know by the teachings of Paul that if one person eats and it is with a clear conscience in the sight of Yahweh, there is no sin. The same holds true for anyone who abstains providing there is not guilt in the sight of Yahweh.

We, being His children, should never berate or ridicule how others worship the very same Jesus.

Yeshua has taught us in Word, but most important, He stressed by His own deeds just how we should conduct ourselves with the family and with those who are non believers. Love does not belittle how a brother or sister worships Yahweh. If what they do is not a sin, it is a sin to berate it even with what some call humor. This is simply not love.

I thank Miss for her spirit filled testimony and share as family in Christ. If others cannot appreciate the contribution of other siblings, that is something they must work out.

1Still actually it is a "trouble free" life. I see it this way... Is it trouble for you when you are John the batist? They chopped off his head, but he had no "troubles". John the baptist, like Paul, all knew even DEATH IS A GAIN, not a "Trouble"

It is not troubles when we suffer for what is GOOD. If we suffer for His name sake, it is a blessing to suffer! But if we suffer for sin, it is HUGE TROUBLES!

Sin free is also trouble free! Troubles that comes to sinfree people, is the sin! The sin in OTHER PEOPLE is their troubles and the righteous man's BLESSINGS!

Let me give one example.... When the sinners stone Stephen, was it Stephens blessing to be stoned for his Holy Spirit filled life? Or was it Stephen's TROUBLES? Nope just like Jesus, Stephen even forgave them (the ones who sinned). And Like Jesus he said... Father lay not this sin to their charge.... WOW! Do you see the trouble they would have been in if Stephen did not ask God that? How can a troublesd man have such mercy?

Yup, and the difference is that those pesky problems that plague us in this life are far easier to deal with when we have the indwelling Holy Spirit to lead, teach, and comfort us. Jesus said we would experience "problems" simply because we are His disciples, after all, they did it to him.......And, again, yes! The path to salvation is a far better choice than that other one...

The proof is in the life, the more obedient we are to God and His Word, the more Blessings come. Have been on both sides of the tracks, and this side is much better. Praise God, Jesus lives.

The greatest blessing of all comes from obedience to Yahweh:

Mattithyah 7:21, "Not everyone who says to Me; Teacher! Teacher! will enter into the Kingdom of Yahweh, but only he who does the will of My Father Who is in heaven."

Deuteronomy 8:3, "...man does not live by bread only, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of Yahweh, does man live."
