i dont think its worth kicking yourself over if you get drunk every so often. Noah got drunk and he was a biblical patriarch.
Would you say this, also?
I don't think its worth kicking yourself over if you murder and commit adultery every so often. David murdered and committed adultery and he was a biblical patriarch.

You did not answer the question ;) Besides which, what has that got to do with anything? All the patriarchs were human beings, and most were seriously flawed in some way, which is no excuse to say, well, so-and-so did such-and-such at least once, so I can do it every so often.

my mistake, i thought it was a rhetorical question. my answer would be no, i do not think its ok to go out and murder people.

my point had nothing to do with Noah got drunk so lets all get drunk, Noah got drunk and the Most High didnt strike him down, i dont even see anyone in the bible making a big deal of it, so why do we?

Scriptures have a lot to say about sobriety, and the lack thereof. Drinking in and of itself is not a sin, and it is actually recommended in some situations/circumstances, which I have already pointed out :) So it is not about whether anyone is making a big deal of it... or even the fact that God did not strike Noah down for getting drunk one time. I just wonder why you even use Noah as an example. If anything the example of Noah getting drunk should be a deterrent to drinking, not something to use to rationalize drinking.

I am not making a big deal of Noah drinking. You seem to be doing that by saying that God did not strike him down for it, concluding that since Noah did it once, it is okay for you to do every so often. I was simply pointing out the error of your thinking. Do you really want to make a case for habitual inebriation using Scriptures to do so?

It is believed by some, and I am one, that Noah did not set out to deliberately get drunk. We have to remember that the conditions of the earth had changed drastically. The fountains of the deep were broken up and the windows of heaven opened. (Gen. 7:11) The windows of heaven was not just rain but was the canopy of water that existed around the earth. These are the waters above the firmament. (Gen. 1:6-8).

These waters above acted as a filter from the suns rays. And it created an atmosphere on the earth producing a mist which watered everything. (Gen. 2:5-6) So, the flood of Noah was the first time people saw rain or water come down as it did.

But once the waters above were broken up, then the suns rays come directly to the earth without any hindrance or filter. And immediately you see the ages of man start to decrease. He lived hundreds of years before the flood, but now it dwindles down to less than a hundred. The rays of the sun increased the aging process.

And it also increased the fermentation process of grapes. This may well explain how Noah got drunk. He could enjoy a lot of wine before and not get drunk. But he didn't realize that that now had changed.

The sin in this story was that of Ham, not Noah.

i didnt say drinking I said DRUNKENNES. u like having a drink ok. But i said drunkenness not having a drink. apples and oranges

Did God command anyone to be stoned to death for drunkenness......? What about NOAH....BUT GOD did command death for adultery right....? THEY are not comparable

different punishments yes, but sin is still sin. what on earth is your problem? IS OCCASIONAL LYING OK THEN? That didnt have a penalty like that. is occasional ANY sin ok? WHICH SINS are ok occasionally? seriosuly? this is a ridicilous conversation.

Seeking to be justified in ones sin is to reject the Atonement of the LORD Jesus Christ for that sin... And that leads one only to the eternal lake of fire..

All sin,, No matter how minor it seems to us causes us to fall from the perfect standards of God.. All sinners need the be covered by the Atonement Jesus secured on the cross.. From stealing a cookie from your moms cookie jar to operating a gas chamber at Auschwitz in WW2..

With all due respect, in your zeal you're throwing out the baby with the bath water, and comparing apples and oranges. There is a difference between getting drunk and being a drunkard. If I have a couple of beers and "get merry" from them, to me it isn't sin. Not something I practice though.

I have no problem other that your quantifying and qualifying sins while disregarding the fact that they cannot be compared one to another...what is YOUR problem pal?

Funny how people see what they want to see and then go to seed on something....I thank God he set me free from the religious traditions and hyper religious laws laid down by churches and men....and notice...I did not at one time say it is ok to "OCCASIONALLY LIE, Commit Adultery or even be Drunk".....ALL I said was that Drunkenness and Adultery cannot be compared........and he goes off on some out of his mind rant accusing me of saying it is OK to do something occasionally......

You claim to be free from traditions, yet you have a massive baggage of tradition, to the point of disagreeing with 1 Cor 6:9... it lists them both there, both keep ya out.

I rather stick with what Paul says than some nobody on the internet.
