Hi Slayer, the phrase "he who endures to the end shall be saved" is only used in the Bible when it's referring to the time of great tribulation (just prior to Christ's return). As such, I believe it will be one of the principle signs of a true believer in that day and age (far more than it is today in most cases). True believers ARE the ones who endure to the end, because God, by the power of His sanctifying grace, has promised to see that we do .. cf John 6:37-40; Philippians 1:6; 2:13, Hebrews 7:25.

This seems consistent with the Lord's and St. John's teachings, where we learn that we are saved NOT at the end, but from the moment we first believe (IOW, when we first come into possession of "eternal life").

For instance:

.........John 3
.........18 He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in
.........the name of the only begotten Son of God.

.........John 5
.........24 Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into
.........judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

.........1 John 5
.........13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you
.........have eternal life.

~Deut

.................John 6:37-40 (excerpt)
................ALL that the Father gives Me WILL come to Me and .. of ALL that He has given Me, I LOSE NOTHING, but raise it up
................on the last day!

.

D...,

When we repent and are baptized we then begin to live a righteous life. We must ....."maintain"..... that until the end (death)....in order to receive eternal salvation.

Scriptures teaches us.......sacrifice for forgiveness is not available when sin is present.....

You do know that Jesus paid the price for sin, right? He paid it “once for all!”

”But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, 13 and since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool. 14 For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.” Hebrews 10:12-14

This means that just because we sin, doesn’t mean Jesus has to die again. He has already paid the price, the price which we can never pay!

You are talking about some kind of “works salvation” in which your constant repentance earns your salvation, over and over until eternity, in which hopefully you have confessed all your sin, and didn’t think so much as a wrong thought on your death bed.

That is NOT the gospel! Christ paid the price, once for all! This is some kind of modified Catholic salvation, and they even set up a way side station, in case you died not having received absolution from a priest for every sin, big and small, that you committed!

And of course, the Holy Spirit leads and guides us as we are sanctified! We do allow the Holy Spirit to transform us into the image of Christ! That is my hope!

”And we all, with unveiled faces reflecting the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another, which is from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” 2 Cor. 3:18

So here we have another who does not have faith that Jesus who saves us keeps us saved.
He believes He must help by his own works.
You keep trusting in yourself and you will end up in Hell.

He believes He must help by his own works.
You keep trusting in yourself and you will end up in Hell.
An integral part of that faith is our volitional obedience to Christ, including the performance of the works that he commands us to perform.

It puzzles me why people who rely on their works to be saved even bother to consider themselves Christian. There are plenty of work related alternatives. Unfortunately their practitioners will all end up in the same place.

The following verses sum up what I'm trying to say.

Romans 7:22-25 New King James Version (NKJV)
22 For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. 23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 24 O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? 25 I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!
So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.

The above describe my battle with sin, it's actually comforting to know that Paul had the same battle against sin as a saved man.

.
And yet you did not address the scripture given in the post you responded to.
Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. And the servant (sinner) abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever. If the Son therefore shall make you free (being a servant of sin), ye shall be free indeed.
(Joh 8:34-36 KJV)

Paul speaks of this freedom from sin that Jesus shares with us!

What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
(Rom 6:1-6 KJV)

Then after Paul in chapter seven gives "his testimony" that knowledge of the law can not and was not saving him from his carnal nature he proclaims the victory in chapter eight.

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law (the knowledge of it) could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh (taking it away; nailing it to the cross): That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For they that are after the flesh do mind (entertain; think on) the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded (inclined; purposed) is death; but to be spiritually minded (inclined; purposed) is life and peace.
(Rom 8:2-6 KJV)

Mainly due to the fact it is GOD that works in us both to will and do HIS good pleasure; not us but Christ, in all humility Paul in speaking of being resurrected and living without sin (being perfected) he states of himself.

Not that I already received or already have been perfected, but I press on, if I also may lay hold, inasmuch as I also was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. Brothers, I do not count myself to have laid hold, but one thing I do , forgetting the things behind, and stretching forward to those things before, I press on after the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Then as many as are perfect, let us be of this mind; and if you think anything differently, God will also reveal this to you.
(Php 3:12-15 LITV-TSP)

In verse 15 Paul testifies that some were already perfect and have reached the high calling of GOD through Christ Jesus. Not that they thought that of themselves but Paul testifies they were.

Our free will is not taken away once we are saved, so we do not become robots and also, born again Christians become new creations in Christ and are adopted into God’s family. Hebrews 10:26 does not teach that Christians lose their salvation, as I have already explained to you numerous times.
Yes it does

So many new people has come last weeks to CC with "anti RCC, anti Augustin, anti Trinity, anti Calvin, anti Luther, anti historic creeds, anti general Church teachings, anti bible canon" views. And they all have some obvious agenda they came to teach.

Is this some kind of strange coincidence? I am not sure.

But they all know something what other Christians do not. Because they studied so much and we did not. I think that moderators should look at it, what is happening here last days.
There are many on here that have been here a long while who do this, day in, day out: attacking truth, denying Scripture, claiming to be Christian.

You got part of it right, since anyone can see in Hebrews 11 that it is written that he that comes to God must believe he is, many don't hear they are saved from the moment they believe God might exist as written in Romans 8.

The passages's own definition of 'sanctified' shows that Hebrews 10:26-29 does in fact teach that the person who goes back to the world in unbelief no longer has the sacrifice of Christ to cover him and has nothing left to look forward to but the wrath of God that the sacrifice of Jesus once protected him from. You can't just decide to ignore the context that shows us the author is talking about saved 'sanctified' people in order to protect a predetermined doctrine. Any honest person can see that by context 'sanctify' means 'saved' in the passage:

"13For if the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled sanctify for the cleansing of the flesh, 14how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? "-Hebrews 9:13

"10By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all."-Hebrews 10:10

"14For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified. "-Hebrews 10:14

"26For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27but a terrifying expectation of judgment and THE FURY OF A FIRE WHICH WILL CONSUME THE ADVERSARIES. 28Anyone who has set aside the Law of Moses dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace? "-Hebrews 10:

You lose the sanctification of Christ's sacrifice (which only has to be applied once) if you stop believing in that sacrifice. You are no longer set apart as holy (sanctified in salvation) if you go back to the world in unbelief. And the author made it clear in chapter 6 that you can't get it back once you lose it.
If the word 'sanctified' in Hebrews 10:29 is used to describe saved people who lost their salvation as you teach, then we have a contradiction because the writer of Hebrews in verse 10 said "sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all" (Hebrews 10:10) and in verse 14, we read, "perfected for all time those who are sanctified." (Hebrews 10:14) *Also, in Romans 8:30, we read - Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. *ALL of them.

Instead of protecting your predetermined doctrine you need to honestly consider the context.

*NOWHERE in the context does it specifically say the person who "trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant" was "saved." The reference to "the blood of the covenant that sanctified him" in verse 29 "on the surface" appears to be referring to a Christian, but this overlooks the fact that the word translated "sanctified" (which is the verb form of the adjective "holy") which means "set apart," and doesn't necessarily refer to salvation.

*In 1 Corinthians 7:14, Paul uses it to specifically refer to non-Christians who are "sanctified" or "set apart" by their believing spouse. (And by this Paul does not mean that they are saved). A non-Christian can be "set apart" from other non-Christians without experiencing salvation as Paul clearly explained. So the word "sanctified" means to be "set apart." If the word "sanctified" simply meant saved, then you would have to say that the Sabbath was saved (Genesis 2:3), the tabernacle was saved (Exodus 29:43), the Lord was saved (Leviticus 10:3), the Father saved the Son (John 10:36) and many other things that do not line up with scripture.

In verse 39, the writer of Hebrews sets up the CONTRAST that makes it clear to me that he was referring to unbelievers, not saved people: But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul. Those who draw back to perdition do not believe to the saving of the soul and those who believe to the saving of the soul do not draw back to perdition.

So after considering the CONTEXT, it seems most likely that "he was sanctified" should be understood in the sense of someone who had been "set apart" or identified as an active participant in the Hebrew Christian community of believers, but who has committed apostasy by renouncing his identification with other believers, by rejecting the "knowledge of the truth" that he had received, and trampling under foot the work and the person of Christ himself. This gives evidence that his identification with the Hebrew Christian community was only superficial and that he was not a genuine believer.

In Hebrews 10:26, To "sin willfully" in the Greek carries the idea of deliberate intention that is habitual, which stems from rejecting Christ deliberately. This is CONTINUOUS ACTION - A MATTER OF PRACTICE. Now we don't walk along our daily life and "accidentally" fall into a pit called sin. We exercise our will but, the use of the participle clearly shows a CONTINUOUS ACTION. The unrighteous practice sin (1 Corinthians 6:9-10; Galatians 5:19-21); not the righteous, who are born of God (1 Corinthians 6:11; 1 John 3:9). *Notice how I properly harmonize scripture with scripture before reaching my conclusion on doctrine.*

Hebrews 10:26 - (AMP) For if we go on willfully and deliberately sinning after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice [to atone] for our sins [that is, no further offering to anticipate].

In regards to Hebrews 6, in verse 9, we read "But, beloved, we are confident of better things concerning YOU, yes, things that accompany salvation, though we speak in this manner." I've heard three different interpretations for Hebrews 6:4-6 (hypothetical view, lost salvation view, never truly saved view) but am not convinced that it teaches a really "saved" person really "lost their salvation." NOWHERE does the Bible use the words "lost salvation."

In Hebrews 4:2-3, we read: For indeed the gospel was preached to US as well as to THEM; but the word which THEY heard did not profit THEM, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. For WE who have BELIEVED do enter that rest, as He has said: "So I swore in My wrath, 'They shall not enter My rest," although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. *Notice that verses 2-3 makes a distinction between "us" who have BELIEVED and do enter that rest and "them" who heard the word but did not mix faith with what they heard and will not enter that rest because of UNBELIEF.

Also, in Hebrews 12:15, we read, "See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God.. (NASB) The ESV reads - ..fails to obtain the grace of God. The NIV reads - ..falls short of the grace of God. No loss of salvation here. Only a failure to receive it.

Don't wonder why learned theologians can't get it right. Stop trusting them. Look at the mess they made of tithing through their spiritless, misguided, wrong teachings. If they can miss the plain words about that, they can surely miss the plain words about losing the blood of Christ for salvation through a return to the world.
No need for straw man arguments. I reached my conclusion through *properly harmonizing scripture with scripture* and not through
blindly trusting theologians. It's interesting how works-salvationists in general who attend various false religions and cults ALL unanimously agree with your biased view of losing salvation (red flag!) and look at what a mess they have made of the gospel! If they can miss the plain words about the gospel/the plan of salvation, then they can surely miss the plain words about the eternal security of the believer.

Be a Berean! Stop taking theologians at their word. Check these things out for yourself. Stop following the doctrines of men, people.
Another straw man argument. Bereans examine the scriptures to see if what is being taught is the truth, which would *include properly harmonizing scripture with scripture* in order to reach the proper conclusion on doctrine, which is exactly what I have done.

I've listened to enough Roman Catholic theologians in the past who hold to your biased view about losing salvation and prior to my conversion, while still attending the Roman Catholic church, I was one that roller coaster ride of fear and bondage to IN-security, but after my conversion, I no longer live in fear and bondage to IN-security about my salvation. I trust whole heartedly in my faithful Shepherd and Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to not only save me from the PENALTY of sin (justification) but also save me from the PRESENCE of sin (glorification). My eternal security rests in Jesus Christ. Praise God! :)

Admitting that our freewill is not taken away after being saved is admitting that we are still free to make our own choices, and sometimes humans make bad choices- like leaving God. You can deny bible meaning all you want, it will never make false what's true. Christ's blood saves, if someone had Christ's blood but it was taken away from them- that means that they were saved but are saved no longer. No matter how you twist and turn it, that is the meaning of "no longer."
Hebrews 10:26 (AMP) For if we go on willfully and deliberately sinning after receiving the knowledge of the truth (descriptive of the unrighteous - 1 Corinthians 6:9-10; Galatians 5:19-21 who practice sin and not the righteous who are born of God - 1 Corinthians 6:11; 1 John 3:9), there no longer remains a sacrifice [to atone] for their sins [that is, no further offering to anticipate]. The writer of Hebrews did not say "no longer saved." That is your preconceived belief. Once these Hebrews reject the knowledge of the truth by drawing back to perdition instead of believing to the saving of the soul (vs. 39) there no longer remains a sacrifice to atone for their sins/no further offering to anticipate. The offer is off the table.

There is not one single person on this forum, when confronted with sin, who did not willfully choose to sin even, in their converted state.

Point? Apply their misinterpretation and misapplication of Hebrews 10:26 to them as well; they are just as guilty as those whom they attempt to condemn.

Scriptures teaches us.......sacrifice for forgiveness is not available when sin is present.....
So you are trusting in water baptism and your best efforts to live a righteous life (perhaps even sinless perfection) until the end in order to receive eternal salvation? For your information that is salvation by works.

If you are speaking of our spiritual status while on earth.....He won't lose you but, you can lose Him as your Savior....if you do not..."maintain (righteous) until the end" (death).
Philippians 3:9 - and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith.

From beginning "have been saved through faith" (Ephesians 2:8,9) to end "receiving the end of your faith--the salvation of your souls" (1 Peter 1:9) salvation is by grace through faith and is not by works.

Being Submissive/ Faithful/Obedient To Him= Accurate

Just Believe/Accept Him as Saviour= Bad Translation in English

(Tranlations are mine from the Greek.
*All 41 occurrences of the Greek phrase
πιστεύων εἰς αὐτὸν
are listed below in context)

Part I

Mat 18:6 “Whoever should cause one of these little ones who are continually submissive and faithful to me to sin, it is better for him that a millstone of a donkey be tied around his neck and he be submerged in the depth of the open sea.” (repeated in Mk 9:42)

Jn 3:14-16 “And in the same way that Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, it is necessary for the Son of Humanity likewise to be lifted up, in order that everyone who is continually faithful and submissive to him should not be destroyed, but instead, possess age-abiding Life. Because God in this manner was lovingly-devoted to the cosmos: to the point that he gave his one-of-a-kind son, in order that every person who is constantly submissive and obedient to him might not be destroyed, but instead possess age-abiding Life.”

Joh 3:36 The person who is submissively being obedient to the son possesses age-abiding Life; but the person who is being disobedient to the son will not see Life. Instead, the wrath of God is remaining on top of him.

Joh 6:35 Yahshua told them, “I am Life's Bread. The person constantly approaching me will never be hungry, and the person being consistantly submissive and faithful to me will not ever be thirsty.”

Joh 6:40 “This is the intention of the one who sent me: in order that everyone who is constantly looking to the son, and being always submissive and faithful to him, may have age-abiding Life. And I will resurrect him in the Last Day.”

(Part II next)
I truly agree with you God will never take you freedom of choice away from you. you will always have that choice to serve Him or serve the world. He is a God of freedom of choice. I believe if in your heart you want to serve Him but are struggling with a issue He will bring you out. Once saved always save A Big Made Up lie. Yes he is able to keep us. But we will always have that choice to walk away from Him
