The problems that rise with understanding is about that word "change". Some do not see that the old man is dead because of the old way of thinking. And you are correct EG. The new man in Christ is exactly that. One who previously didn't exist.

We cant change the natural man to the spiritual man. We must be born anew. Then in sanctification, it's worked out as our minds are renewed to truth. We trust in the promises of God who is faithful, and will do it, even to the "day".

Partaking of Holy Spirit is to walk as He walked, is it not?
Amen

A dog returns to his vomit, because he is a dog.

A dog which was changed to a new creation will not return to his own vomit, because he is no longer a dog.

I went back to the OP. While I understand the quest, I just think it's the wrong scripture used.

Deluded people are permanently blind, permanently deaf, & permanently hardened against the truth.

They will believe a lie & be damned.
How were you brought to a knowledge of the Truth, then?

Or anyone, for that matter. Perhaps it eludes you still :(

I am amazed at how many people can not let things go. but have to keep pushing, and then blame you, The blame shifting that people who call themselves children of God just amazes me, is it lack of maturity?

if I disagree with some one, I have the right, as does EVERYONE to ask why they believe that way, or did I understand them right, call into question their interpretation of a passage for discussion (this is a bible discussion forum) or give a different view in hopes of discussing, and to help others who may be reading so they know all sides. and can hopefully make an informed decision, and maybe (yes it has happened a few times) change my view because they convince me I misunderstood some doctrine.

Who is being the child for the last few pages?

I will pray for your pastor, elders, and fellow teachers, wife, kids, friends, co-workers. I will pray for their emotional, physical, and spiritual strength.

It is obvious, it must be very emotionally, physically, and spiritually exhausting to keep you maintained to the level and image of perfection you need people to believe you have.

I love this part especially: repentance is a faith issue.

We can turn away from sin without turning toward God because the Pharisees did this, but we can’t turn toward to God without turning away from sin.

Theres a reason why His goodness and kindness leads to repentance. It’s in seeing Him as for us and not against us that we begin to eagerly change the way we think toward Him and His Kingdom ways.
Amen He does all the work of salvation or he does none.. To repent is to turn to comfort oneself, ease oneself of a affliction..It is the work of the Holy Spirit our comforter .

Strongs lexicon...05162 nacham {naw-kham'}

AV - comfort 57, repent 41, comforter 9, ease 1; 108
1) to be sorry, console oneself, repent, regret, comfort, be comforted 1a) (Niphal) 1a1) to be sorry, be moved to pity, have compassion 1a2) to be sorry, rue, suffer grief, repent 1a3) to comfort oneself, be comforted 1a4) to comfort oneself, ease oneself 1b) (Piel) to comfort, console 1c) (Pual) to be comforted, be consoled 1d) (Hithpael) 1d1) to be sorry, have compassion 1d2) to rue, repent of 1d3) to comfort oneself, be comforted 1d4) to ease oneself

Even God repents to comfort himself by having mercy. We can see that in Genesis 6 when the sons of God as those led by the Spirit of God (believers) refused to honor the seed Christ refusing to walk by the faith that comes from hearing God like the foolish Galatians and married the unconverted as daughters of men being un-evenly yoked it had come to a end .

He would reserve the seed Christ through Noah and then through Shem as a work of repenting.Comforting easing His self .

There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.Gen 6:7

2Pe 2:20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
2Pe 2:21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
2Pe 2:22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

Like the sow that was clean that went back to the mud, some people that have been saved went back to enjoying sin.

They escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

They knew the way of righteousness, but turned from the holy commandment delivered unto them.

Only a person that has been saved can escape the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of Jesus, and can know the way of righteousness, but they turned from it,and that is because they wanted to enjoy sin again, and hold unto it,making their repentance of no effect, and if they sin wilfully after they have received the knowledge of the truth then there is no more sacrifice for sin,for the blood of Jesus will not take away a sin they hold on to.

Rom 11:20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
Rom 11:21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
Rom 11:22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

Like in the Old Testament if they did not abide by the truth they were cut off,and in the New Testament is they do not abide in the truth by continuing in the goodness of God they shall be cut off.

A person that confesses Christ should understand the truth that God wants them to abstain from sin,for that is what repentance is about, and if a person hates sin,and does not want sin,by the Spirit they can abstain from sin,so there is no excuse.

People that hold unto sin and think they are right with God is not right with God,and they usually err in the love of money and material things for their wants, and also fleshy pleasures.

2Ti 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

This is the seal that seals the saints that they depart from iniquity.

1Co 15:33 Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.
1Co 15:34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

1Th 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.

Heb 3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
Heb 3:13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

Some people depart from God for they go back to enjoying sin,and sin separates us from God,and some did not even start out right in their relationship with Jesus for they repented of their past sins, but held unto sins of the future thinking they were alright with God,and they were covered, which is usually because their denomination does not uphold holiness standards.

So how does we cannot abstain from sin,and sin does not affect our relationship with God apply.

It is people going back to enjoying sin that causes a person to be like a dog going back to their own vomit, and the Bible says that the last generation among many people that they will be pure in their own eyes but not washed away from their filthiness.

Which there are many people that claim Christ that hold unto sin and think they are right with God.

its ok sis, I can not see what he posts anymore.. It is obvious yet once again, he does not know me at all.

Me believe I have to be perfect?

lol. thats one of the funniest things I have ever heard. Anyone who knows me know this is far from the truth.

Whats funny is I am usually told I am wrong because I let people know how sinful (imperfect) I am.. not how perfect..lol

thanks for the laugh though.

Jesus died for the sins of the World, He died, "while we were yet sinners"

Rom. 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

But Jesus didn't "SAVE" us at our worse. Not everyone will be saved as Jesus said.

Luke 13:3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

So man's preaching that we "Come as we are" or that Jesus "Saves us at our worse" is in opposition to what He teaches, which is, if there is no repentance, no change, there is no salvation, there is no "Saved".
yes on of the purposes Jesus came to accheive was to send out His call for repentance beginning at Jerusalem and then sent to the whole world in the great commission matt. 28:18-20.

Jesus saves us because we believe Him, because if we believe Him His words guide us to a place of repentance. the purpose is because the same who gave his suffering, his life, his blood to save us from death, is the one saying the things he says. the call to repentance works because He first Loved us even when we were at our worst. he doesnt save us to continue in our worst, he saves us from our worst. salvation works by faith because if you have faith in Jesus you wil believe His doctrine, and that will sanctify and lead Home, we dont just take His life and death, we take His spirit, His word His doctrine because of Hid sacrifice for us.

christians believe that because false doctrines teach it to them. if ur pastor is daily teaching that sin is no longer an issue with God your already saved regardless if you repent or sin. people will begin to believe it. modern christian doctrine is extremely far from what is written

Whoever you are accountable to I suggest you show them your posts and see what they think about your conduct. Do you attend a church? Do you have anyone you’re accountable to in the flesh? You said you spend time with God in the mornings that’s incredible. Does He talk to you like the tone you use with people here? If not maybe there’s something you should consider in your alone time with Him.
I am flattered to be singled out to be the sole recipient of your grace filled wise counsel. Those that have an interest in this will understand my reply.

well there is that and then we also have the folks who say they can be as nasty as they want to be because Jesus made a whip and drove out the money changers from the temple...completely ignoring what James says

26 Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. 1:26

it's always someone else

have you heard the belief that we no longer have to forgive or need to forgive? seen that one here and in certain blogs ...just go straight to God because he understands you and it's all good

nowhere do we find that in scripture and yet people are actually believing and living that every day

spurious and downright biblical things are taught...extra biblical revelations ...which amount to no more than doctrines of demons as per scripture...are accepted and folks get downright angry when you point out the error

I don't wonder how so many will fall away.

I mean we have a thread over 2400 pages long and still going. It's Battlefield Bible Forum at it's best and I don't understand why the simple words of Christ and the rest of the New Testament are so hard to understand

well I do, but those who do not understand would not accept the answer anyway

catch 22

I mean even suggesting such things brings out the snipers, bombers, guided missiles and IEDs

If we must clean ourselves up stop sin, and do all these great works, is not salvation earned by works, and thus not by Grace?

Its ok, I am not out to persuade you, I am trying to discuss what I believe and what I see, if you disagree, thats fine.

I will say though, You have not persuaded me either.
"If we must clean ourselves up stop sin,"

can you imagine this argument being made in the bible? if i have to repent and stop serving satans will ( sin) that means grace isnt really grace because ive " earned my salvation" meanwhile from the beginning of time God has been saying " sin is death" believe and obey my word and you will live......."

2 timothy 2:19 "Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

titus 3:8 " This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men

there is no salvation where we get to serve sin guiltlessly and still end up in the Lords eternity. theres only a mirage that rejects the bible and says " well if thats true then grace isnt grace" so many take the word Grace, define it from websters dictionary and then majke the argument that the Bible has it wrong if you believe it, because grace isnt grace if you have to do what the Bible says you have to do ........

either we acceot Jesus repent and turn our lives toward Home or we wallow in the mire and eat slop like the prodigal. we dont get to hang with the pigs and our wild living and still arrive at Hime. like the prodigal sin should make us sorry enough to stop doing it, if for no other reason, than our sin is what lead Jesus Christ to His suffering. sin has to become utterly sinful to us or we will never stop, we cant believe sins not an issue anymore because well never change if thats the belief. if a sinner begins to believe they are being called to repentance By the Lord who gave His life for them, repentance will come because that is what Jesus is all about, yes we must do the things Jesus taught us for salvation, repent and learn and obey His word. it doesnt matter How jp defines grace, or what webster says grace means, you cant then take that definition and omit all of Gods word that makes it clear that line of thinking is deadly flawed.

the Bible defines the Bible, the Bible explains and interprets the bible not how man defined the word grace......if you guys really knew grace you would be zealous for good works and deeds, you would learn to repent and live godly lives here and Now. is that an offensive " prideful, self reliant statement? or, is it just biblical truth?

titus 2:For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12
Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 13Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

doesnt it bother the gog crowd that thier doctrine is different entirely from the Word of God? if Jesus says you gotta repent, its a done deal, so then what ? re define repentance to mean " changing the mind" rather than what its always meant in scripture to repent of sin stop sinning......its an endless circle this subject

anyway, I should know better than to even post on threads with the gang being active on it

probably due to the fact I have only averaged about 4 hours sleep the last 2 nights...due to the adorable puppy my husband and I gifted each other with for Christmas

I cover my dogs with prayer...my household...and everything in it...my marriage and all that pertains to my life

I do believe we are living in very critical spiritual times (they were always but because of the internet and all that pertains to it, tv...well mass media in general everything is duplicating and increasing at rates I do not believe many even take notice of)

if we could stop sin BEFORE we were saved

1. The cross us useless. Christ died in vein
2. The law would save people. Sacrifice would only be needed up til the time the person stopped sinning and we have met Gods standard.
