Guys... why are you debating the source of the term Hebrew? It is not Egyptian, it is a descendantory term! It means sons of Eber.
Gen 10:21 To Shem also, the father of all the children of Eber,
Eber is the
The Egyptians picked up on what the Israelites called themselves, and translated it as Habiru. The Egyptians came to use the term for all Canaanites.
Why are you continuing to suggest that "Hebrew" is an Egyptian word, when it is obvious that the Egyptians got the word from the Israelites.
Eber (Hebrew) the father of Peleg, the father of Reu, the father of Serug, the father of Nahor, the father of Terah, the father of Abram.

This has nothing to do with the author of the Book of Hebrews.

I dont think you understand what the word means :/ I really wish people would take the time to study a bit. You tube is not going to be able to help anyone about this.
That was from the Smith dictionary that they believe that the word Hebrew derived from Heber. Trust me that their is no recorded records of the Hebrew nation beside the scriptures. This is what detour people from God because of the lack of evidence which the devil hides in front of our faces. I know that people need a guide to guide them, and want things to stay the same which makes a person a stiff-neck person. You got to look around in order to seek, not look straight forward. You'll be passing by a lot of knowledge.

They are the Israelites. that went over the Euphrates river. Smiths gave you a good meaning of the word.

The Hebrews are all the children of Abraham, of all the tribes of both the houses of Israel and the house of Judah. Before they were scattered , of both houses; the house of Israel by the Assyrians, and the house of Judah by the Babylonians, the people called themselves Israelites.

But after they were scattered they were know as Hebrews.

The word "Hebrew" means "from the other side of the river". Through the years the Euphrates river had become the border and dividing line between God's people , the Israelites and Babylon.

Paul is using the word Hebrews here to direct this book to all the dispersed of all the tribes of both houses wherever they may be.

This is why the book of Hebrews goes to a greater depth then most other books in the New Testament. Paul is a true scholar of God's Word in understanding the full meaning of God's entire Word, and Peter wrote of this in -

- II Peter 3:15; "And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also, according to the wisdom given unto him, hath written unto you:" A large part of Paul's wisdom and understand is given us in the Book of Hebrews. If your familiar with the historical records out there, and the scriptures about this, in the scattering, they eventually migrated over the Caucasus mountains ( which is where they were placed near , by the Assyrians ) and settled Europe and later migrate to the Americas; so they fulfilled the prophecy by God, that they would become as numourse as the sands of the sea and the stars of heaven. And many nations.

If you follow it closely, they changed names , and were known by other names later, by Jacob, the sons of Isac, and later other names.

Where the Israelites disappeared, the Meads pick up where they were last recorded, and appear in history, and are tracked moving from where the Assyrians left them, on their boarders, on the outskirts of Europe , where they are tracked through history migrating into and settling.

Its not really hard, because the historical archeological and written records are all public.
I scratch my head wondering why people are so oblivious to the facts.

I think people are just too lazy to go study this themselves. And Satan is working overtime keeping people ignorant going with the crowd .

Paul knew who they are; and who he was addressing Hebrews to. Naturally that Letter is for all Christians today, as they would become the major Christian nations of today, and Christ is who the letter is about.

Wouldn't it had been best to called the tribe of Eber, the Shemites since they has branched from Shem? You can see that the scholars just made that up from out of their heads. They just assumed that the word Hebrew has branched from the word Eber, because they didn't have any evidence of this tribes' existence to compare it with. The word was mispronounce and misunderstood.

You can see that the changing of the name had meant that it was a nickname of some sort, and if they wanted a name for themselves they would have call themselves the Abramites or something that referred to their leader. But God didn't made them a nation until Joshua which means Jesus in Greek. They were name the Israelites because of the promise of God telling Rebecca that she has two nations in her womb which one was the Israelites and the other was the Christians, and which the Israelites will serve the Christians.

God said He not only would scatter them,, but that they would forget who they were as a people. It was part of the punishment.

Deuteronomy 32:26-28

King James Version (KJV)

26 I said, I would scatter them into corners, I would make the remembrance of them to cease from among men:

Daniel 9:7

"O Lord, righteousness belongeth unto thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries whether Thou hast driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against Thee."
