Paul saw the ten commandments as part of the "ministry of death."

Evil is the power of sin. If you make "do not murder: the problem then you are not in the right spirit.

Because of Lawlessness, love grows cold:

Mat 24:12, "And because iniquity will abound, the love of the many will grow cold."

"iniquity" is: #0458 anomia {an-om-ee'-ah} from G0459
Greek Word Study (Transliteration-Pronunciation Etymology & Grammar)
1) the condition of without law 1a) because ignorant of it1b) because of violating it, 2) contempt and violation of law, iniquity, wickedness

thats why He changes the heart, so the heart does not hate His Law:

Jeremiah 31:33, “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israyl: After those days, says YHWH: I will put My Law (Torah/Instructions) in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts, and I will be their Strength, and they will be My people.”

Hebrews 10:16, "“This is the covenant that I shall make with them after those days, says יהוה, giving My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I shall write them.”

Exodus 20:6, “But showing love to thousands who love Me by keeping My Laws.”

John 14:15, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.”

1 John 5:2-3, " 2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.

Matthew 22:37-40, " 37 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”
I've been set free from the law; no intention of putting myself back under it. Enjoy your slavery.

As evidence of this, see 2 Corinthians 3:7-8, "But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away, how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious?"

So how do we know he was talking about the ten commandments? Some people have speculated that more than just the ten commandments was written on the stone tablets. I'm not concerned with that here; but there is evidence that what Paul was talking about in the above passage was the ten commandments. Paul is referring to an Old Testament passage, Exodus 34:27-30, "And the LORD said to Moses, 'Write these words, for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.' So he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights. He neither ate bread nor drank water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments. When Moses came down from Mount Sinai, with the two tablets of the testimony in his hand as he came down from the mountain, Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone because he had been talking with God. Aaron and all the people of Israel saw Moses, and behold, the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to come near him."

It's easy to see that Paul was making reference to this passage in Exodus which clearly states that the ten commandments were part of it. Paul refers to this as "the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones."
amen

“For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭7:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬
Yes take a look at this also as another witness remember the setting when they received the Ten Commandments ?

“For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest, and the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; ( this is referencing when God spoke the Ten Commandments saying you have not come to this Mount and those words )

which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more: (for they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart: and so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake:)
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12:18-21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

thats another reference to the giving of the Ten Commandments that happened here it’s saying we Christian’s haven’t come to this place and this word

“And thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, that ye go not up into the mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to death: there shall not an hand touch it, but he shall surely be stoned, or shot through; whether it be beast or man, it shall not live: ( there’s certain death present for sinners Godnis warning them about it )

when the trumpet soundeth long, they shall come up to the mount. And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled. And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount. And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.

And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice. And the LORD came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the LORD called Moses up to the top of the mount; and Moses went up. And the LORD said unto Moses, Go down, charge the people, lest they break through unto the LORD to gaze, and many of them perish. And Moses said unto the LORD, The people cannot come up to mount Sinai: for thou chargedst us, saying, Set bounds about the mount, and sanctify it. And the LORD said unto him, Away, get thee down, and thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee: but let not the priests and the people break through to come up unto the LORD, lest he break forth upon them.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭19:12-13, 16-21, 23-24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

That isn’t our testament word this is

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”( no certain death is present now but instead certain life )
‭‭John‬ ‭5:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭15:1‬ ‭

but when they heard the law they said this

“Now therefore why should we die? for this great fire will consume us: if we hear the voice of the LORD our God any more, then we shall die.”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭5:25‬ ‭KJV‬‬

when they heard God they were convinced they would die if th y listened anymore to him because of how he presented himself to those who had no remission of thier sins instead he was saying of them this

“And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers; and this people will rise up, and go a whoring after the gods of the strangers of the land, whither they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them. Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us, because our God is not among us? And I will surely hide my face in that day for all the evils which they shall have wrought, in that they are turned unto other gods.”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭31:16-18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The New Testament is for the new born people the old is for the old flesh people

That is a very weak reply, completely ignoring the Scriptures I posted, but rather going into a personal attack. If you applied what I posted to my view you would not be able to honestly say that. Do not murder is not death. Do not steal is not death.. Honor you father and mother is not death. I think you are twisting just as Peter warned of in 2 Peter 3:15-17.

We are supposed to be set free from sin, not His Commands...

John 8:34-36, “יהושע answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone doing sin is a servant of sin. And the servant does not stay in the house forever – a son stays forever. If, then, the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”
What is death is relating to God according to the commandments instead of walking in the Spirit. The problem isn't the law, but the weakness of the flesh. But given that weakness, all who relate to God on the basis of the law will die.

The power of sin is the law. I've been set free from the law, why on earth would I want to put myself back under it?
yeah you don’t want to identify in this group

“knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, for whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;”
‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭1:9-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It’s hard to be born anew and forgiven under a law meant to hold guilty and condemn the world for sin

“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭3:19
-20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Knowing sin can’t save us

I do agree, but want to say... The flesh is weak to what? Giving in to sin. Sin is transgression of the Law.

Also this is what I showed with Scripture, in another post:

Jeremiah 31:33, “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israyl: After those days, says YHWH: I will put My Law (Torah/Instructions) in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts, and I will be their Strength, and they will be My people.”

Hebrews 10:16, "“This is the covenant that I shall make with them after those days, says יהוה, giving My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I shall write them.”
Yet as soon as I quote it and agree with it many people strongly disagree.

Again the problem is not "do not murder" the problem is transgression of "do not murder" and as Yahshua, Ezekiyl, Yeremyahu and Hebrews states being in the Spirit of YHWH will guide one to love and obey His Instructions.

I don't think it's the commandments themselves that are the "ministry of death"; rather, it is the OC, and the ministry of the OC- as it says "in accordance with these words, I have made a covenant with you". The stones, which resided in the Ark of the Covenant were representative of the OC. And as Selahsays mentioned; this section of Hebrews is comparing/contrasting the Old and New Covenants.

John/Yahanan 14:15, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.”

I've been set free from the law; no intention of putting myself back under it. Enjoy your slavery.
1 Peter 2:16, “as free, yet not using your freedom as a cloak for evil, but as servants of the Mighty One.”

John 8:31-32, “So יהושע said to those Yehuḏim who believed Him, “If you stay in My Word, you are truly My disciples, and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

John 8:34-36, “יהושע answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone doing sin is a servant of sin. And the servant does not stay in the house forever – a son stays forever. If, then, the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”

Free from sin, not His Commands.

John/Yahanan 14:15, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.”

1 John 5:2-3, "By this we know that we love the children of Yah, when we love Yah and guard His commands. For this is the love for Yah, that we guard His commands, and His commands are not heavy."

Matthew 12:49-50, “For whoever does the desire of My Father who is in the heavens is My brother and sister and mother.”

Matthew 24:45-51, “Who then is a trustworthy and wise servant, whom his master set over his household, to give them food in season? Blessed is that servant whom his master, having come, shall find so doing. Truly, I say to you that he shall set him over all his possessions. But if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming, and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, the master of that servant shall come on a day when he does not expect it, and at an hour he does not know, and shall cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites – there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

John 12:25-26, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone. But if it dies, it bears much fruit. He who loves his life shall lose it, and he who hates his life in this world shall preserve it for everlasting life." Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.”

All I can say is For this is the love for Yah, that we guard His commands, and His commands are not heavy.

I agree with this, I think these are a few passages showing it's about the ministry of the priesthood, a priesthood that can not be corrupted...

Psalm 110:4, “יהוה has sworn and does not relent, “You are a priest forever According to the order of Malkitseḏeq.”

Hebrews 7:13, “For He of whom this is said belongs to another tribe, from which no one had attended at the Altar. For it is perfectly clear that our Master arose from Yehuḏah, a tribe about which Mosheh never spoke of concerning priesthood.”

Hebrews 7:11-12, “Now if perfection had been attainable through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people received the law), what further need would there have been for another priest to arise after the order of Melchizedek, rather than one named after the order of Aaron? For the priesthood being changed (#G3346), there is made of necessity a change (#G3331) also of the law.”

changed (#G3346), change (#G3331)

In english, both change..., in the Greek they are similar but different words with different meanings.

It doesn't matter what anyone considers the law to be, the law works against the Spirit.

If I do nothing, no one spits on me. If I wear a sign that says...do not spit on me, that causes some to consider spitting on me. Why? Because the introduction of a law causes the flesh to want to break the law. This was Paul's argument about coveting. Before he knew about coveting, he never coveted. But when he learned he was not to covet, the motions of sin in him caused him to covet...Romans 7...the motions of sin. And sin inevitably brings death.

Murder is murder. But without a law that says you will not murder. and a law that says if you do, you will die. A person who murders cannot be charged for murder from which their is no law.

That is what the law does. and why it was placed in the ark. It was to show the guilt by which the children of Israel had. They did not keep the ten commandments, thus they were guilty. They did not obey God and picked Manna on the sabbath, so the manna proved Israel was guilty. And arron's rod that budded. Again, proof of the guilt of Israel

Remember also the purpose of the blood. The blood was poured on the ark. so the cherub could not see what was inside that proved the people guilty. hence their sin was covered. ie, the thing which PROVED their guilt could not be seen.

Sin brings death indeed. However YHWH changes the spirit on man to not continually seek evil and thus do evil.

Ezekiel 36:26-28, "A new heart, will I also give you, and a new spirit will I put within you; and I will take away the heart of stone out of your flesh, and will give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments, and do them. And you will dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and you will be My people, and I will be your Father."

Hebrews 10:16, "“This is the covenant that I shall make with them after those days, says יהוה, giving My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I shall write them.”

So the problem is not His Commands, but rather evil desires of the flesh.

Yes, the ten commandments were part of the "ministry of death." See 2 Corinthians 3:7, "But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones," What was written on stone? We know for sure the ten commandments were.

Nice explanation. It reminds me of this,

Mattithyah 24:12, "And because iniquity will abound, the love of the many will grow cold."

“iniquity” is word #G458 Strong's Concordance - anomia, lawlessness, Short Definition: lawlessness, iniquity, Definition: lawlessness, iniquity, disobedience, sin

Psalm 51:10, “Create in me a clean heart, O Yah, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.”

Hebrews 10:16, "“This is the covenant that I shall make with them after those days, says יהוה, giving My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I shall write them.”

So the problem is not His Commands, but rather evil desires of the flesh.
The flesh is still corrupt and wars against the Spirit...Romans 7.

Isaiah 5:20, “Woe to those who call evil righteous, and righteousness evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!."

The flesh is still corrupt and wars against the Spirit...Romans 7.
So we can choose to follow the flesh or the Spirit.

1 John 1:8-10, "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His Word is not in us."

1 John 3:24, “And the one guarding His commands stays in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He stays in us, by the Spirit which He gave us.”

He can empower us to change

Hebrews 10:16, "“This is the covenant that I shall make with them after those days, says יהוה, giving My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I shall write them.”

Jeremiah 24:7, “And I shall give them a heart to know Me, that I am יהוה. And they shall be My people and I shall be their Strength, for they shall turn back to Me with all their heart.”
