Since, as you just posted here, God does not lead us into temptation, that request (statement?) "not to be led into temptation" must mean something else.
Likewise, since the Bible says we, as Christians, are very definitely going to experience "evil" in our lives, I certainly hope no one is expecting God to never let evil knock us around some before "being delivered" from it.

God does not lead us into temptation. The tempter does that, but God will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we can handle. And He will provide a way for us to kick the slats out of the tempter.
So why would we ask Him not to tempt us or lead us into it?
