I apolgize The couple of days God and I have been very close and things have been happening that I keep secret because it is strange even to me yet amazing the mystery of God is fascinating and yet because like he says his ways are not our ways well it won't make sense looking at it logically or with doctrine or your understanding of scripture trust me that doesn't matter if there is one thing he taught me is that the word of God says what he says not what we say. He told me how so many of us call the bible the holy scripture yet treat it with distain by using it for our own purposes taking his holy word and treating it like they can do as they please with it.

He was not pleased. He then told me to instead of reading the word of God listen to the word of God but listen with the spirit.

There is a frequency we have to tune in to really listen and hear and connect to the holy spirit exactly like an old radio where you have turn the nobs to tune into the channel the static is always a problem until finally hit the channel with no static.

I mean think about it we call it the word of God, that means it is spoken which means it comes the lips of someone and what do you with a word spoken? You listen you say it is the word of God then treat it as if it is him speaking to you.
We listen with the spirit nothing else we don't lean on our own understanding that is a simple basic lesson for new believers now look at all of us it is quite frankly pathetic

If we really believe the bible is the word of God then we need to understand the gravity of that truth and what comes with that. If you think about it that is a heavy truth, with words alone he created all of existance with only one word he can bring you to your knees think about all the times his word alone did something. So honestly understanding this and how we say the bible is not like other books how the word of God is alive I wouldn't want to be messing around with something like that I cannot treat it with anything other than the greatest respect it is not mine to use as I please it is holy and sacred and is not a toy.

Again I am sorry this is just something I had to get out

The highest form of praise and worship is obedience to Him and His Word. To do this, we must know God; we cannot be ignorant of Him ( Acts 17:23 ).
Agreed that what you wrote is a form of worship and should be practiced by believers. There is also a form of worship where it is just you and HIM in vocal worship. This is what occurred in the Most Holy Place of Moses' tabernacle.

Please expound on the in spirit portion.
Sure. Spirit is not capitalized. Thus, it is our spirit that is to be engaged.
David was a man of worship. Despite his obvious faults, the depth of his worship is riddled throughout the Psalms. His desire was to magnify the Lord, and that from all that was within him. And he encouraged others to this as well...let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
God has appointed worship to be done in an ascribed way. But no true worship is absent lips filled with praise that is overflowing from a grateful heart.

Good analogy Blain. A tuning fork used to tune musical instrument may be another analogy. The pitch or tone or frequency comes from Heaven and it's the Holy Spirit that brings us into harmony with the Father.

I really like that too tuning a musical instrument.. I have alwats found hearing his voice easy to hear msinly because I know his voice like he said his sheep do but what I didn't know is that when I was studying the word of God I assumed I was already tined in but that I think is where our mistakes begin we assume we are already tuned into the spirit.

But there is a reason we meditate on his word meditation is seen as a spiritual mental inner focus.

Ok - this is fresh understanding for me.

In true spiritual worship (not praise) the Holy Spirit first tunes our heart. Then flows worship through our spirit to the Father. May be in our native language maybe not. Either way the worship is given by GOD to be given back to GOD the Father - He is our source for everything.

Do you understand a difference?
Yes, praise is prayer for God's great qualities and actions, while worship is a whole life involving praise, thanks, confession, prayer for other people, lamenting, and prayer for oneself. In the context of special group gatherings, praise is contemporary, biblical songs, and worship involves singing to lift God up to the position he already has, giving to him generously, and applying his proclaimed Word to our lives.

Jesus while with the woman at the well said the Father "seeks those who will worship in spirit and in truth". Please note that He didn't say " praise".
Well since the Psalms (given by the Holy Spirit) are primarily songs of praise, that would have been a given. Indeed the meaning of "psalm" is a song or hymn of praise.

Not exactly what I'm saying.
Praise is a part of worship whether audible or not. We are to walk in the Spirit at all times so in one sense what is produced in us is the life of Christ at work in us. But even as Christ lives in me, I still live. I have become something new and God is working in me willing and doing of His good pleasure. But the worship is coming from me. What I am becoming is given greater expression in all of life. I'm more patient, I'm more loving, I'm more thankful. This is what God is producing in me but it is me actually expressing these things or not.
I'd explain further but I think it would only be more confusing. I do believe God is doing way more for us than many give credit for, we are worshipping from the depth of our being even as God is inhabiting the praises of His people. I truly desire a thousand tongues to sing my great Redeemers praise, but I am finite and sinful and God is holy and infinite, and I need His divine enablement if my worship is to be accepted.

I cannot express how happy this post made me. Your mistake was mentioning David because I can never not gush about him when he is mentioned. I have always felt such a kindred spirit with him like you spoke of the way he worshipped God was like a new song being sung to him he put his heart in it and would always boast of God even when he was down and out being near the brionk of defeat or death even in his retubution from mistakes he would be open with God giving his greivences but always made sure to speak of his goodness and faithfulness

He had something special with God something different than his predecessors his spirit of worship if I could just once be able to just be there watching and listening to him worship sing and praise God I bet it was something to behold.

I appreciate that this is a civil discussion rather than a contentious debate.

I do struggle with
"But the worship is coming from me. What I am becoming is given greater expression in all of life. I'm more patient, I'm more loving, I'm more thankful. This is what God is producing in me but it is me actually expressing these things or not. "

from me? Instead of through me?

If you have time please expound further and don't be concerned about confusing me. I often need to read things repeatedly to even begin to get and understanding of what is being said. Along with prayerful meditation. So please say on.

According to Romans 8:29 we are being conformed to the image of Christ. According to Philippians 2:13 God is at work in us willing and doing of His good pleasure. According to John 15:5 we can do nothing apart from Christ. So what is actually going on? How are being remade in Christ's image? What exactly is God doing? And how does Christ fit in?
2 Corinthians 3:18 says we are changed from glory to glory as we behold Him. It is in God's presence that we are changed or made into the image of Christ. Given this, it should be our desire to truly get into God's presence as much as possible.
This is where spiritual disciplines play a role. The spiritual disciplines are are some value in and of themselves. But their greatest value is that these are the places God has prescribed to meet with His people. For example, we pray. Why? Because our Father who is in secret will meet us there. We also meet for corporate worship and fellowship. Why? Because where to or more are gathered in Jesus' name, He will be in their midst. The same is true for all the disciplines.
This will begin to affect who and what we are. We are not changed outwardly because of our efforts at self control. These are true heart changes that empower us to live as Christ. This will affect every aspect of our lives, not merely worship.
We have gone well beyond the scope of this thread and I want to be respectful towards other posters. If you want to discuss further, perhaps another thread would be helpful or you are welcome to message me.

Man if you don't stop touching my heart....
What have said here is the very heart of worship itself just in expressing all of this you brought praise to him you say it would be confusing if you explained more but I knew and understood and agreed in spirit with everything you said. That part where you said you wished you had a thousand tongues I knew exactly how you feel if the amount of praise and worship were possible that we want to give him it would require all of heaven to

Your growing in him in a way few others do, like you said he is up to more than most realize the kingdom of God the unity between the hearts of the believer and God himself praise and worship opens the floodgates it is the key.
Can you imagine how much it must tickle his heart to know his childdren love to praise and be in worship with him?

Crowder is leading people away from truth. Personally I'd stay away from him. People can do their own research.
