Keep it up, buddy. You'll be banned soon enough.
That is my honest opinion btw, but i have been called here anti Holy spirit (which means antichrist/satan), buffoon, hate filled individual- but saying someone doesn't understand becomes very insulting to you?! shows how it 'us vs them' thing, keep it up yourself, but i don't see the above as insults or hate but rather childishness and mostly misunderstanding.

You are so wrapped up in hate you cannot see anything. You want knowledge then learn the word of God and memorize it. That is a solid biblical method for keeping your heart clean and able to be used of God to minister.

You still have no idea of how to address that passage. It is not real difficult. The orthodox understanding is that Jesus is foretelling the evangelistic works that the disciple would do and the generations of born again Christians would do in winning many times the number of souls that Jesus won during His earthly ministry.

actually, if you could read without having a bias, I said the greater works was also the "Gospel message" which the church would be used to do as Christ said. Maybe you should explain that to your other friend. Other here will testify that I did, in fact, say that as many others here did too. That being said again, Jesus still heals, and Jesus is still prayed to for healing from the Father. many here remember the word of God even if you think they don't. BUT We give credit of that ability to the Holy Spirit as Jesus said HE would bring into our remembrance all that Jesus has said. YOU give yourself and your human intellect the glory of that. For many of us it's not what we know BUT WHO WE KNOW and HE who knows us.

I would agree the greater works seem to reflect salvation

Jesus provided for our salvation but it was not until He ascended that the gospel started going out into all the then 'known world' and of course today, the world

so Jesus did not actually share His own gospel in the manner we do today and He actually only taught in a small area

I would also agree with this verse of scripture

5having a form of godliness but denying its power. Turn away from such as these! II Timothy 3

now the context of that verse says more than may apply to those in this thread that deny the gifts or just about anything they cannot touch, feel, see, smell or observe in some way that connects with their human reasoning

however, I think we are seeing a form of godliness with no power for certain in those who deny the Holy Spirit's 'intrusion' into their carefully plotted 'Christian' path

IMO, they prefer men and their teachings

What others call you is between you and them. I don’t make personal comments about you; I comment only on your ideas or your attitude. It has nothing to do with feeling insulted, because I don’t. I just think your approach is ridiculous. If you have to sink to making personal comments, it indicates that your position can’t stand on its own. Address the ideas, not the person.

You may think your attitude is so welcoming and think you are in a higher moral ground and in a position to identify those whose attitude you think is off but i'll let you know, it's not the case. You may want to clear the forest in your eyes so that you can see the speck in another person's eyes.

Your arrogance has exceeded your intelligence. ....

You're disagreeing with Scripture. .....

What version are you using? Mine doesn't mention gibberish at all. It just discusses languages foreign to the hearer(s).
I see these as your honest opinion about me which i have no problem with, but what is the difference between these and my opinions about you never understanding?
To me, the difference is that one has added pride when they advocate for the other to be banned for their opinion.

you can have an honest opinion and still be unbiblical as you are in the context of this topic. You approach your understanding of "greater works " from what Jesus said to mean something HE never said. You use humanistic dogma which is not Biblically true. have all the opinion you want but do not call it Biblical truth.

Greater works simply means greater works even in Greek. Twisting and turning so that greater doesn't mean greater and works doesn't works is futility. And in any case, whatever your definition of greater works is, you have been given an opportunity to tell what your greater works than Jesus are but all you have done is try to explain what greater means in Greek.

Again,

Q. As a believer, can you or do you do greater works than Jesus as per the promise in John 14? (it doesn't matter what your definition of greater works is/ Greek or not)

If yes, what are these greater works?

LOl yes but the greater does not mean better than our Lord as you alluded to. You continue to not be truthful and very dishonest. I think we should stop now. I am done with the thread :) . and leave to you all. thank you for everyone's post and time. even yours Noose.

The fact that there's nothing you can point at and say 'yes, i'm doing this thing more than Jesus did or i'm doing it in a greater manner than Jesus' points to cessation. But of course the Apostles did greater works by doing many miracles as attested in Acts of the apostles.

Acts 15:12
The whole assembly fell silent as they listened to Barnabas and Paul describing the signs and wonders God had done among the Gentiles through them.

Acts 8:13
Even Simon himself believed and was baptized. He followed Philip closely and was astounded by the great signs and miracles he observed.

Acts 19:
11God did extraordinary miracles through the hands of Paul,12so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and the diseases and evil spirits left them.

If cessationists existed in Bible times all we would have is the books of Moses (Torah)

It says the same thing in deuteronomy as it does in Revelation, meaning: DONT ADD or SUBTRACT from this book:

Deu 4:2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

So by the time Isaiah and them came along and said "The Lord told me" they should of said "NO HE DIDNT, Chapter and verse on that, BUDDY?" -"well the Lord told me to..." -"NO HE DIDNT, the canon is closed, it says dont add to His word, God's done talking boy"

I again ask this from my cessationist friends: HOW can you be led by God TODAY? the BIBLE cannot tell you: Where to live, where to move, what job to take, if you should get married, who you should get married with, what ministry (IF ANY) you are called to, etc. etc.

The Bible is there as a STANDARD, profitable for doctrine reproof correction etc. But the Bible is NOT THERE to tell you where to live TODAY; you know why? Because the Bible doesn't contain that information, and this is because the answers to these questions are DIFFERENT for every person, so its IMPOSSIBLE for that information to be in the Bible, since the Bible is a REVELATION of God to EVERYONE.

To some, they might be called to mop the floors, to some, they might be called to be an evangelist. <- This is DIFFERENT for each people.

YOU need to hear from God TODAY. PERSONALLY.

This is NOT to demean the Bible, its COMPLETELY biblical to hear from God. Just to put things in their proper context, for most of church history, no regular joe had the Scriptures and couldnt even read. People were still saved because the Holy Spirit was working, God sent the Holy Spirit!

My words, quoted in your post:
Your arrogance has exceeded your intelligence. ....
You're disagreeing with Scripture. .....
What version are you using? Mine doesn't mention gibberish at all. It just discusses languages foreign to the hearer(s).

What you don’t seem to notice is the tone and content of the posts to which mine reply. The first comment you quoted addresses your attitude as demonstrated in the post of yours that I quoted, not you personally. The second and third address your ideas and your choice of words respectively, not you personally. I said nothing about you or what you know or understand. Learn the distinction. You have no idea what I know or think except for what is posted here.

I didn’t advocate that you be banned; it was a warning. If you persist in making insulting personal comments, you will be reported to the moderators. If you want to engage in a flame war, you're in the wrong forum anyway. If you want a mature, rational discussion, keep the personal comments out of it. Stick to the ideas, rather than attempting to stick it to those who hold them.

you don't have a clue what Jesus meant

not a clue

yet you keep dogging on greater works and then state it does not matter what your definition is

I know I have done greater works...in the biblical definition of the word

I for one am not addressing this greater works nonsense any longer

so that means noosie will prob like this post cause he thinks he won a lollipop or something

actually, this appears to be one of those endless arguments the Bible tells us to avoid

he has been answered mulitple times, by different people in at least 2 different threads

it's like a student who has failed math or something and insists on getting an A anyway. the teachers explains, the student got all the answers wrong, but student still wants an A because he gave answers and whether they were right or wrong it does not matter.

so, I give student noose a -D and place him at the back of the class where he can continue to collect bubble gum from under the desk and wave it around to see if anyone else sees how big his collection is getting

exactly. here's an old one maybe you have heard:

like the person who wanted guidance and said to God 'I am going to open my Bible and the verse my eyes light upon are your instructions to me!'

so he opened up his Bible and read 'Judas went out and hung himself'

aghast, he said there is a mistake. so he tried again.

his eyes lit upon 'go thou and do likewise.'

Like i said, clear the forest in your eyes first, something is not an insult when it is only applied to you but you applying to others it becomes addressing issues. Saying that my arrogance has exceeded my intelligence is an insult, calling people heretics in whichever tones, without explaining why they are is not addressing issues, it is insulting.
I don't have issues with your insults, i have issues with your pride, calling yourself mature and others immature, saying you have been insulted while you stick to issues.
