You don't need a shirt for a job either. I don't believe here in australia you can even buy a non-smartphone. Plus whats the point throwing my phone in the bin? Noone is going to buy it. Its just stupid to sell it for $1 or throw in the bin.

You do need some sort of phone to phone employers. I brought a $200 one ages ago. Plus you can't even do internet banking without a smart phone. You literally can't go to the bank here unless you wanna 1 hour to go to one that isn't open 24/7.
Then go into a job without a shirt and see what happens. Jobs have dress codes and usually the 1st one is to have clothes on.

Who said anything about throwing your phone away or selling it?

You can't even afford a coffee, how much online banking do you need to do?

Why is your employer not paying for your phone if it's necessary?

I prayed to God for a coffee today. I had no money. I went to the mall and I had a voucher on my phone for a free coffee. I went to the place and they said their systems are down but I can use eftpos. I tried to scan my voucher in but it didn't work. She said do you still want the coffee and i said no and was too embarrassed to say I had no money.

My family thinks it wrong to ask for money. They call me selfish for asking. But the bible says the opposite. It says to give to the one that asks for a loan. give to the one that begs. I've seen people including them get into trouble (cursed) the same day after i asked for help. then they are asking to stay at my house lol.

I've also been cursed when i didn't give. When I give everything goes well.
If someone asks for money and they actually need it then it is only natural to want to help them out however there are also those who have plenty and ask for more sinister reasons. Now about curses I don't think God just slaps a curse on people like that the only real curse I have seen was one where a person I knew thought it would be fun to mess with a demon she had invited into her house not believing in the supernatural she was plagued by finiancial mental and physical problems that only got worse and worse.

You cannot fathom how severe curses can really be and you cannot just throw a word around like that as if you understand what a curse really is because a curse is demonic in nature it is powerful and not easy to break free of and curses can pass onto generations of children if not taken care of.
A little bad luck here and there is not a curse it is life and quite frankly it is disrespectful to say God cursed someone when people don't seem to know or understand the severity of such things that is like blaming God for your own mistakes and dealing with consequences you brought on yourself

If coffee is a need you can pray for coffee for God will answer prayers for our needs, food, clothing, and shelter, and spiritual needs.

It depends on what your situation is. If you are a strong, healthy, able-bodied person (which it seems that you are) you could probably get a job today (in whatever capacity). If you have specialized training or a trade, you should have no problem either. A job means income, and that would eliminate the need to ask anyone for any cash.

'Some sort of phone' doesn't have to be a smart phone. Aussies must still have land lines surely.

I don't like those touch screen things so the last thing I want to do is waste a load of money on one.
I just want my phone to be a phone. I'm not in the race to constantly upgrade & have "apps" for everything.
I have had a land line, a smartphone, and now no phone at all. My having or not having a phone has had absolutely no effect of learning to be close to God, except that with no phone at all I have more time to devote to listening to Him. That is my choice and phones has nothing to do with it.

You are being too tough on WannabeWinner. After all he does want to be a winner. So he thinks he should start with a jolt of caffeine. And if its a freebie then all the better.

Plenty of flip phones still on the market where I am. Avoids a LOT of nonsense that comes along with smart phones.

Do you not have debit cards where you are? I thought those were standard...there's not a whole bunch of reason to have to go to a bank when you can use an ATM.

If you need a balance inquiry you can use ATMs here and anything else you can just call the bank. Not that difficult and it might even be a tad bit more secure than an app. Far too many security holes on android/Iphones for most users...I won't get into it, but NOT using them for anything sensitive is reasonable.

You can buy flip phones on Ebay and take them to your carrier and get them to work. The 3g models will work for a while (until they turn it off next year) and the 4g models will stay on until 2025 at least.

Also minimizes wasted time and "instant gratification" in many areas.

I think the Lord would answer a coffee prayer or even a smoke prayer (depending on the person) but it'd be super low priority I imagine.

Idk what kind of person you are (troll or otherwise) but if you are in a mall or some place where you could reasonably be expected to "hang out" just saying out loud "dancing for coffee" and proceeding to dance would easily get you a coffee if you are the type of person that can pull it off ;)

I know free places I can get coffee as social events and some businesses but that's mostly just a perk when I go there as the gas money far exceeds the price of a coffee lol.

Invest in some instant coffee...it's gross until you're out of coffee. It keeps a LONG time and it's cheap. I wouldn't buy anything less than $3 though because it's beyond weak. I bought some for $1 one time and it took 1/4 the jar (which made it super strong) but seemed to have almost no caffeine.

some peoples attitudes on here are real...not christian

judgy and self-righteous! Doesnt it make you want to vomit a little in your mouth?

if someone has no home of course they wont have a landline. But they still need to be contact in some way.

Plus not EVERYONE will have a home. Refugees do not have a home. They often dont have a choice where they live.

I dont know about a 'smoke prayer'
But the prayers to God are like incense. As is said in the Bible.

I personally dont think modern cigarettes are like incense...but for some people it serves to soothe them when they need a break.

The initial posting was sad. Apparently, no one here has been down to their last nickle--it wasn't about the coffee, it was about not having enough money, not having a job, and having no one to help.

And also incredibly odd to go on about his cell phone. I don't know anyone that doesn't have one--even the poorest have one as it is actually cheaper than a landline, which many have done away with.

This could have been an opportunity to witness, since the person isn't a believer, instead much of it was shaming and judging him.

"13 If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails. Aaaand you didn't witness to him? The message & the plan of salvation is free, and you didn't give it to him? Perhaps you are broke. Spiritually broke.

Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
You may need to repent of sin & ask Christ to be Savior & Lord of your life.
One can cry their eyes out in repentance, but if they don't change & live a repentant life for Jesus, it not true repentance.
Matt 13 NLT
18“Now listen to the explanation of the parable about the farmer planting seeds: 19The seed that fell on the footpath represents those who hear the message about the Kingdom and don’t understand it. Then the evil one comes and snatches away the seed that was planted in their hearts. 20The seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy. 21But since they don’t have deep roots, they don’t last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God’s word. 22The seed that fell among the thorns represents those who hear God’s word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life and the lure of wealth, so no fruit is produced.

You are in these verses somewhere. It's up to you to discover which one you are & repent. It's my hope that you do.
Aaaaaan....Sometimes the message God sends out is a simple one....He will have you do an act of kindness for someone and leave them with the simple statement God loves you.

God has moved on me this way many times while out in the community. He will have me buy food or other items for someone and tell me to tell them that He loves them and wants to help them.

That is what he moves on me to say...so that is what I say nothing more and nothing less.

If we are not careful many times we can hinder what God wants us to do and his message by either not doing anything at all or going over and beyond what he says to do or say.

If we go over and beyond what he says then we can potentially do more damage than good.

God knows the hearts and where everyone is at and what each person needs to hear.

As I said, he usually sends me with a simple act of kindness and just the simple message God loves you, cares about you, and wants to help you.

I don't know why he moves on me this way, but God does. Maybe it is because I'm not a preacher or maybe the person just isn't ready for the full message at the time. Maybe God sends someone to first witness to the person with an act of kindness and just a simple message of God loves you to soften their heart before sending a preacher or someone else to witness the full gospel to them when they are ready to receive it. I don't know only God does. He knows the hearts of man and he knows exactly what each person needs. Maybe he sends some out to help soften and break up the fallow ground before going any deeper. Scripture tells us that God sends some to plant seeds and then others to water those seeds, but God is the one to ultimately make them grow.

All I know is if we speak only the words that he sends us to speak nothing more and nothing less then His will can be done. If we don't do what he says to do or go over and beyond His instructions then we become hindrance.

Isaiah 55
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

10For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:

11So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

the Lords prayer included praying for our daily bread. Dont tell me that nobody ever needed to pray to have food to eat!

as for a cup of coffee, sometimes it is the ONLY hot food available, and one of the cheapest that keep people going. its not healthy to live on coffee, but compare one cup with the price of a full meal in a cafe. You might be paying $20 for a meal, but a cup of takeaway coffee is at most $5 and is quick and easier to buy.

do people here live in cloud cuckoo land or something - honestly.

There was no indication that WannabeWinner was homeless. So that is a non-issue. Now there may be many who choose to be homeless (or panhandlers, or collectors of cans and bottles, etc) even though they are able-bodied and in good health. So what's the best way to help them? Urge them to get off the streets and go find a job. There is a critical shortage of workers all over.

On the other hand there are veterans who have sacrificed their lives for their countries or their freedoms, and they are treated like dirt by all governments. When they find themselves homeless, then they definitely need help (since they may be disabled).
