... whatever Charlie_2024. I think the one who's boasting is the one who claims he doesn't "believe there's anything new for [him] to know" and when someone shares some insight they have gleaned the one boasting claims "to suggest that there's so much more to know is to admit you still don't know what the gospel has reavealed" ...
so I think we can just let that rest and leave it to God to sort out ...
you know those verses in 1 Cor 1 where God talks about how He has chosen the foolish things ... the weak things ... the base things?
well ... the words "foolish things" are translated from the Greek word mōros, from which we get our English word "moron".
the words "weak things" are translated from the Greek word asthenēs, which means incapable.
the words "base things" are translated from the Greek word agenēs, which means insignificant.
"despised" is the Greek word exoutheneō, which means those treated with contempt or scorn.
1 Corinthians 1:
26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
27 But God hath chosen the foolish things [Greek mōros] of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things [Greek asthenēs] of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
28 And base things [Greek agenēs] of the world, and things which are despised [Greek exoutheneō], hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
And before you accuse me of some sort of "boasting" or whatever, I was taught the Greek words by my pastor and I looked up the words just as God tells us to do.
I just think it's funny that we puff ourselves up thinking we're all that and a bag of chips ... only to have the rug ripped beneath our feet by the Creator of the universe telling us He chose the morons, the incapable, the insignificant, the contemptible. Yeah, I'm all those things and God loves me!!!
