I've been snooping around that Rapture Forums site and it seems they have many of the same problems there as there are here, even though it's heavily moderated. The reason it shut down was because of people not following the rules and creating disturbances. From the list of rules I looked at it would be difficult to not break one of them.

I'm sure there are good people there but I don't think it's the utopia a lot of people are describing. If it's your home base and you like it I'm sure it would be a shock to suddenly have the rug yanked from under you. Hopefully the new policies they have in place will prevent further disruption.

I feel fortunate here that there isn't a long list of rules and heavy moderation. I don't always like what people say but I always have the option to just ignore them or call them out. I've been on forums that were heavily moderated and those that aren't; the once that aren't are decidedly better in my opinion.
AS mad as i get , before i cool off, at some of the threads allowed i agree (y)

I wasn't angry at all. I have no idea why you took it that way. I was asking a legitimate question.
I came to this forums when the one I have always used was temporarily shut down. After seeing all the apostasy and the un-biblical thoughts and ideas here, it saddens me. My normal forums is back up now, and it is sound in
Biblical Truths and is scripturally sound, unlike here. I am returning home. I have no heart to argue with people who have their own take on the Bible instead of being taught by the Holy Spirit. I will pray for everybody on this site.
Oh please don't put it on me. You came in swinging and you just got here. So glad your 'normal' forums up and running. I don't know how we'll get on without you.

I pray for protection against well intended but unbiblical praying.

Actually they are not all that well intended come to think of it which is why I just reject them and pray for protection

Anyway...

some who knew Gene Scott back in the day say he was always off
For sure he had a HATE thing going with the AG!!! It'd be interesting to know why - I'll ask later. But he's got nothing to do with the discussion, and the AG never tied "the baptism in the Holy Spirit" to salvation, and still doesn't.

You're perpetuating a myth. Unfortunately, you don't have enough discernment to know when you're being conned. Your not alone though; you have lots of company.
Chuckle!!! ONE OF US is, THAT'S for sure.

BUT HEY!!! Why don't you go ahead and do the 1 Cor 13:10 thing, or the the "Death of the last apostle" thing, or the "Invention of the printing press" thing, so we'll know which popular cessatioist fantasy you ascribe to.

God is Triune, but God did not command to be baptized that way by Water, ever? He did not command to be Baptized at all by Water!
Paul was inspired by God (who is Jesus) who wrote about full immersion baptism in water.

Jesus commanded the disciples to baptise. That is obviously baptism in water because that is what John the Baptist was doing. It is also not Holy Spirit baptism.. because it is an action done by the disciples themselves..

I dunno what you are on about, fella :)

Yeah.. I've been in tightly moderated forums and even though I might type something biblically sound, because of their bias.. I can get teamed up on and then threatened. One site I was in was full of calvinism.. and they would team up on people who weren't calvinist and inundate them with questions.

I see you cherry pick one post out of series making one thought. Typical Calvinistic move, remove something in a series of thoughts/Verses, and remove it to make it mean something on its own. You know, the Doctrine of Adaptability!

I'm not a Calvinist fella!

I'm neither Calvinist nor Arminian.

But aside from that... John baptised in water..

That is the baptism Jesus talks about and is the same kind He commands the disciples to do.

What baptism do you call this?

If it is a kind of salvation baptism...then it isn't something the disciples do.

So what do you mean by baptism?

Please do this....
I'll get the popcorn....
Mark 16:2
And very early on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen.

John 20:1
Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came early to the tomb, while it was still dark, and saw the stone already removed from the tomb.

So when did Mary arrive at the tomb?

Perfect scripture?

That's two different people telling their remembrance of the events of that day.
I imagine that's exactly what was written by each of them.. That does not make the NT imperfect.
One of them said she saw a young man sitting in the tomb..
The other one said there were two angels there....
Mary apparently got there just before sunrise.... she then ran back to town to tell the others.... when "they" all came, the sun had risen, apparently.

Or, it could simply mean they did the best they could, and they are 100% accurate. The way I understand it, Hebrew does not translate exactly into Greek, the same way Greek does not translate exactly into English.
Either translation requires the inspiration and oversight of the Spirit.
I don't believe that God carved the Word in stone, and any change in a written word is anathema... I completely believe in the accuracy of the Bible, even if some words are different. The meaning is still there, and 100% accurate.
There are some deeper issues within the letters in the New Testament. Some of the letters are very early letters, some were written years later. Then there are one or two very late letters in the New Testament.

Some letters are addressed directly to Jewish folk. Some letters are addressed to Gentile churches.

For example, Luke's gospel is a collection of memories from eye witnesses, that Luke recorded. In Luke's gospel Mary does not meet Jesus at the tomb, she just reports to the disciples what the angel said. But in the other three gospels, Mary meets Jesus at the tomb.
Slightly different accounts though in all four gospels.

Obviously, the gospels are not perfect accounts of the life and death of Jesus, sufficient for faith, yes.

And that is where we must rely on the divine guidance of the Spirit on the translators.
Using your logic, we have no accurate scripture...
Some Bibles have extra Old Testament letters. Does that matter?

Depends on what you believe.

You are in conflict with the written text.

It is impossible to say when Mary arrived at the tomb, because we have two gospel accounts in conflict.

The different timing of Mary's arrival is one of many issues in the New Testament.

These letters were written by men, some were not apostles, Luke for example. Did God direct Luke to write the gospel?

We do not know. We do know that Paul's letters were definitely inspired because Peter tells us that.

Why is John's third letter even in the New Testament? There is nothing in that letter.
