Psalm 69

This Psalm is of David and admits to the fragility that is his v 5. Foolish and a sinner, but who with humility because of frailty and seeks that in this he will not disturb the faithful in their steadfastness v6
V 11 yet David has a passion in the love of God and his motives in life are pure.
Who because of purity of this motive and dedication to the Lord is reviled, it is that dedication, faithfulness and total reliance on God that he is reproached for– so that reproach is the reproach that is directed at God and also Christ. It is a reproach without cause (not because of David’s Sin or foolishness)
David has this in common with Christ and will act as the servant King of Christ
Hosea 3:5, “And afterward shall the children of Israel return and seek Jehovah (Christ) their Elohim, and David their king; and shall fear Jehovah and His goodness in the latter days”
The opening verse states ‘Save me’ That is save David as King, save him as Gods anointed, save the kingdom under the rule of God
The cry for God to deal with David’s enemies is because they seek to bring down the program of God for the world. We cannot seek this for our enemies - for we do not rule in God’s state over an earthly theocracy under Jehovah
In Ps 40 it is the burden of the sins of men that Christ has made his own that are innumerable Ps 40 v 12 – that makes the Lord's courage fail ‘my heart fails me’ on Calvary and he relies as we do on promises of the Father Ps 40 8 -11
In Ps 69 it is His enemies that are innumerable that causes courage to fail v 4 more than the hairs on my
These enemies are mighty v4, Overwhelming numerically v4, They mock his love of the Tabernacle v 8-9.They mock his humility v11
They in an allegorical sense crucify him v 21 – for David they filled his days with the result of their unyielding bitterness, making every day as difficult for him as possible (which is what enemies’ do) David describes his torment as being.
In a mire where there is no standing v 2 like a quick sand v 14 & 15, Over flowing of water which cannot be stopped v 2 and which will drown him v 15
In this verse 21 we realise this is a Psalm about Calvary
That which will be their trap v 23 is going to be the maintenance of David being Justifies and glorified in the kingdom Rom 4 v 6 -8 and 8 v 28- 30 which looks back to Abraham and David, they will be defeated by the blessings that fall from Gods hand through David to Israel – God will justify David before the people
Mental agony he is weary of crying v 3 & 21
Among his adversaries there are none to comfort – they do not break rank v 20
He is not totally alone in a sense he and those who support him v 25 are treated the same and the humble, the poor are ignored, and those I assume who have been imprisoned because they support him, within the ten tribes v20 are ignored –this is a characteristic of improper actions that are able to be carried out because of majority support - His ennemies more than the hars of his head
Thier defeat speaks of eternal judgement v 27 – 28 for God will save Zion and the cities of Judah. It seems this Ps is fromthe 7 plus years he reigned in Hebron and the other tribes fought against him 2 Sam 5 v 4 – under constant attack – before he reigned over all Israel for he seeks the cities of Judah to be restored - so that indicates the period of the 11 tribes led by followers of Saul's line (Benjamin)- David and Judah, though annointed king dramatically outnumbered
But as it is a Ps of Calvary it speaks of the impossible place of rejection, animosity, and suffering with no visible escape route. t Calvary was the same with the priesthood, the sanhedrian and the people, all against Him (Ps 40 he s the sin bearer) Here the rejected one
And the glory of the gospel as God justifies and glorifies his Son. And how the gospel has trapped the nation in blindness, not accepting their messiah – and that which was for their good is now the basis of condemnation and eternal judgement for its citizens who do not believein The Lord Jesus Christ and blindness is on the nation.

- David is the anointed King over Israel - he is a type of Christ – but more than that:- a resurrected David will as a servant of Christ be his vice regent (as Joseph was to Pharaoh) in the future millennial reign under Christ.
Jer. 30:9, “But they shall serve Jehovah their Elohim, and David their king whom I will raise up unto them”. It states that in a future day David will be king and that Israel will serve him under Christ. Ezek. 34:24, “And I Jehovah (Christ) will be their Elohim, and My servant David a prince among the.Ezek. 37:24, “And My servant David shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd….” I assume the one shepherd is the Lord
